Pizzeria Via Stato
They have the best thin crust pizza; we love the Margherita. Also love the octopus appetizer and the arugula salad. Service, as at all LEYE restaurants, is terrific.
OpenTable reservation took a bit to transmit to restaurant.
About what you would expect. Pizza is thin, myself and the girlfriend finished both. Decent atmosphere, somewhat reasonably priced for what you get.
The grill octopus and arrugula salad are amazing. It is a great date night spot.
The service was terrible this time around and the octopus was very mushy and fishy- not good at all. It’s too bad, because we really enjoyed the food and service on our previous visit. Will be a while before we think about returning, too many other options in the area to try.
Came late. Not as good as usual. Used to be my favorite place, now not so much
The pizza there was great, the best in Chicago. I am a big fan of thin crust pizza
The restaurants smelled terribly, we almost walked out after going in, but we stuck it out anyway. The waiter wasn't really attentive and it took wayyy to long to get the awful charcuterie board that could not have taken more than 10 minutes to throw together. Oh, I guess though it may have taken someone some time standing next to a toaster waiting for the bread to toast..... yeah the charcuterie board had this crappy white toasted bread, unappealing grapes, jelly that definitely came out of Smuckers jar and some cheese and meat that looked like it came out of a single serve plastic container from Jewel. Don't even get me started on how absolutely unsatisfying this pizza was. I will not ever be back.
This is one of my favorite places. Even though my friends and I don't come here so often, we appreciate how good this place is (we actually went back there today again).
Thank you to Dario, who is always providing an A+ service!
Chicken Marsala was terrific—-but veal/risotto wasn’t Debra was outstanding waitress Always enjoy OsteriaViaStato
This is a cute old world Italian eatery with I think a proper dining room and a bistro section; we had pizza on the bistro side. The pizzas are very tasty and the service is good. It's a good quick bite and it works well if you need some flexibility, like in our case because we were on our way to theater or a concert.
The sangria was delicious. There was a party in the lobby of the adjacent hotel which had a band. VERY LOUD. Food was ok. Nothing extraordinary.
Did not have high expectations going in but still disappointed.
Pizza was soft/uncooked in the center. Veal meatballs came to me cold. Not just not hot, not even warm. Cold. And once re-served to us hot, they were mediocre at best. Roasted caprese salad is hardly roasted at all, name is totally misleading.
Restaurant does not have properly protected entrance so cold inside on a day with 12 degree wind chill.
Our server was the exception, gave him large tip!
This us a perfect example why we have not been to a Lettuce Entertain You establishment in years. Thought they deserved another look. Looked and done, they failed the test. Fortunately there are so many other amazing options in Chicago, so to those we go!
Excellent service with careful attention to food allergies. Large fresh salads. Pizza was perfectly cooked with flavor-popping sausage & vegetables. Only negative is only one bathroom although can take a walk to the connected hotel.
Great place, good wine, amazing service -- only issue was that I had intended to reserve a table at Osteria via Strato (took the link from the OSTERIA site) and instead it reserved me here. It was a happy accident and worked for this occasion, but I wish it had been more clear on their site.
My partner and I dined here for our anniversary dinner. The antipasti was delicious. The pizzas were exceptional and were served quickly! They even sent out a nice piece of their delicious Ricotta Cheesecake for dessert. That was a nice touch! We really enjoyed ourselves and plan on going back very soon!
This is a THIN crust pizzeria in Chicago rather than a Chicago Style Pizza Pizzeria, and it's a noisy, energetic, restaurant in an equally buzzing neighborhood in the heart of downtown. Their wine list seems exceptional though heavily slanted toward Italian bottles, and while the pizzas are super thin, flaky, and delicate, they generally weren't substantive (filling) or stellar as we could all taste char spots underneath our crusts. Given the rather elevated prices here, I think we'd visit another pizzeria
We were there with a group of 6 and the service was spotty - lots of confusion about sparkling/non-sparkling water, blank stares, etc. Food was okay - very strange that they warned us that the food would not come out at the same time ... (I think they should be able to coordinate between the kitchens better). next time I'll skip the Pizzeria and go straight to the Osteria.
Delicious chicken soup, tender chicken, think crust pizza was wonderful, and a tiny slice of chocolate dessert. All for an excellent lunch special price.
We will go back.
Rustic ambiance that feels like an Italian Taverna. Real candles around the room are a very nice touch and lend to the authentic vibe.
Great selection of small plates - the Veal Meatballs are a real treat as is fresh bread w/roasted garlic and an olive assortment - salads are varied and very good, and the pizzas are excellent ranging from traditional to eclectic toppings. Very thin with crispy crust and sized to allow multiple pies and tastes even with a smaller size group.
Broad wine list and very good hand made cocktails.
Nice array of sweets to end the meal if so inclined.
Management seems on top of their game as table is always ready at reservation time and staff is friendly, helpful, and efficient. You never feel rushed and yet they don't drag things out.
A consistent top shelf destination.
The chopped Caesar is great! Only complaint is the pizza was beyond dry
We often come here with our kids to enjoy some great food and service
Really loud, hard to have a conversation. Food was very good, but it seemed that wait staff was a bit overburdened.
Staying at the Embassy Suite and having been shopping all day, just needed to enjoy a dinner and not doing out somewhere and decided to get dinner at the hotel. Fabulous pizza and drinks. Had their Butternut squash pizza that was their monthly special. Most wonderful pizza I have ever had. Too bad it was only for November and we were there on the last day of the month. Would have ordered again, maybe next year. Great service and prices were good. Servers were very attentive and made sure everything was good.
Very noisy, cramped, the waiter took the order and we never saw him again, food was brought in by other servers, had to pay for bread basket and olive oil, food quality mediocre, at least for my family that lived in Italy for 6 years. Would not recommend to friends and will not return.
One of our Chicago favorites, always very accommodating with great service. Be sure to try the chocolacello!!!
Love their thin crust pizza!!
Incredible food and really attentive staff. The pizza was so light and crispy. The chopped salad was so fresh
Great food!! Love their ciabatta with garlic and balsamic.
Their pastas are great too
Excellent service, great food. Coworkers and I had a wonderful time here.
Best grilled octopus I’ve ever had but not at all a place for anything larger than 6 people. Simply too small and we had reservations for 9. No business allowing this large of a group. Pizza was good but not top tier. Italian dishes were also good but not top tier. Service was great though surprised by the high ratings.
A very enjoyable meal in nice surroundings
Thin crust pizza phenomenal!
Bartender rock star!
Chef super cool dude!
Host at front irritating. We arrived early being considerate on a Saturday night knowing our table would probably not be ready. All good. But he had to say it...three times... “ACTUALLY you ARE EARLY so your table ISN’T ready yet.” Once ok, I get it. Twice, now he was approaching sassy. Third time was outright sarcasm.
Been to pizzeria before but it was a great experience recently. The waitress Deb was fabulous and put up with all our menu modifications and was very easy going with us. The food was delicious. Love the chicken Mario and the penne with chicken dish. I would recommend pizzeria to anyone looking for good food, casual atmosphere, and great service!!
Enjoyable dinner at Pizzeria Via Stato. The pizza was excellent - but you had better like micro thin crust - which we do, otherwise you may find it a bit on the light side. Wine list is very comprehensive and well chosen but markups are extremely high for this kind of relatively casual place. Quartino across the street offers MUCH better value on wine but of course that comes with the full 90db sound experience which we didn’t feel like that day. We would certainly return but would be cautious about wine purchase - they really should lower their margins...
Great, crispy thin crust pizza and they let us order off the Osteria menu for entrees, I’d put their steaks up against the best Chicago has to offer at much lower prices! Service was top notch.
Pas grand intérêt
It was great!
Great thin crust pizza and delicious chopped salad! Kids loved the pizzas!
