Welcome to Pizzaiolo Primo, home of truly authentic Neapolitan Cuisine. Pizzaiolo Primo roots trace back to Pittsburgh circa 1996, with an original credo: create Neapolitan pizza using old-world techniques and using the highest-quality ingredients available. Today, we hand-make nearly everything on the menu - from sweet fennel sausage, meatballs and pasta, to mozzarella and antipasto vegetables. If we don't hand-make it, it's imported from the best artisans, cheese makers and salumeria in the world. Our Mozzarella di bufala comes direct from Naples and we cook only the best dried pasta in the world, always to order, always al dente. We bake our pizzas at 1000 degrees in a handcrafted, wood-fired brick oven for less than 90 seconds using perfectly leavened dough, San Marzano tomatoes, and extra virgin olive oil. We get to the restaurant and find that it is closed. We were very disappointed that we now had to scramble to find a place to eat. Someone should have disabled the ability to make reservations.

We made a reservation on Open Table for 7 pm and when we got there the restaurant was closed. Open Table reminded us several times during the day about our reservation. We understand these are trying times but either Open Table or the restaurant should have made sure that the reservation was either cancelled or not allowed to be made at all as obviously the restaurant was not open. We were disappointed as we were looking forward to an evening outside at one of our favorite restaurants. We will not be using Open Table for reservations any time soon. A tip to everyone - you better make an old fashioned phone call for a dining reservation. On line booking cannot be trusted during these times. And a tip to restaurants - pay attention to your outside booking sites and manage them. Customers deserve better treatment than this.

Our server, Olga, was nothing short of perfect. We are so glad she came back to work! Thank you so much for having us and for the wonderful experience. We know that, in these times, guests cannot be the best, but I hope she enjoyed our company just as much! The food is always amazing and the drinks were even better.

This was our first time dining at the restaurant since COVID-19 standards took effect. The staff exceeded expectations in keeping the safety of all guests in mind. Of course, the food was excellent. The seasonal salads are always a favorite of ours! We look forward to returning.

I have been here for lunch and for dinner, both experiences were great. I had a salad for lunch that was so fresh. The dinner (most recent visit) was superb. My date and I had the meatballs for an appetizer (you get a lot!) and then we had a half salad as well as pasta dishes. He got the spaghetti (sauce is very good, kind of sweet) and I had the mushroom pasta, fantastic! They both heated up nicely the next day. Our server was very helpful in making decisions about what to try and all servers were wearing masks/seemed to be adhering to safety standards. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time. Was so nice to finally get out. We'll definitely be back.

Our server was horrible; I use to work at this place and I don’t know what happened that that type of service wouldn’t be tolerated. He never came back to take our order we had to flag him down after 30+ mins, he acted like he was annoyed with us, and to top it off at 10:30pm when we tried to pay our check because we all had to work the next morning he went to take a smoke break and disappeared for 15 minutes... we were a party of 8 and a 20% tip was added automatically (he didn’t deserve that at all).

Excellent anti pasta and pizza. Super wine list. Great service. If I had to say anything negative is is that they could not provide a decaf cappuccino or coffee. But that point is easy to overlook because of all of the positives of this restaurant

I tried a new red wine that was excellent. Light and wonderful marinara on the gnocchi. My husband's Chicken Parm was amazing. Tiramisu was to die for. We were surprised with an extra dessert because we had offered one of our connecting tables to another group since they were a little short on space. I'm not typically a fan of bread pudding. This tasted like a crunchy, gourmet French Toast. Spectacular food, friendly and efficient service. Loved it!

Our waiter and the other staff were very friendly, and the food was good. The prices however and atmosphere did not match. Staff was dressed casually, our waiter was wearing a well worn t-shirt , but there was mood lighting and food was very expensive. We were charged $45 for a wine bottle that had a screw top that i could buy in our local grocery store for $9.99. The restaurant was freezing cold and it was pretty loud/hard to hear and tables were extremely close together. Overall not what we were expecting.

The food here is amazing. My mom and I went looking for something to remind us of our trip to Italy, so we were in search of something close to authentic. Pizzaiolo Primo has great, authentic food, an amazing wine selection (with regional selections), and the service was fantastic. The pasta was to die for - silky and delish! The pizza is wood fired and fantastic. Also, my mom has a lot of allergies and the staff was so helpful with this! The space was a little on the small side, so make sure you make reservations - I also believe they have a private dining space. But the brick oven out in the dining area creates a really nice atmosphere. This is a great place for anything from lunch to a romantic evening, but it is on the upscale side pricing wise, however I felt it was consistent with other restaurants downtown. We will definitely go back.

Service was fast and friendly and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and drink menus. Our table had a nice view over market square. Food was expensive and overpriced in my opinion

Darrel was our server and was most attentive to anything we asked for! We arrived in plenty of time, as we were leaving for a show after dinner. The food is always wonderful and the service is always friendly. All the staff are the best. Hoping the restaurant stays there, as many new by have changed ownership or had bad luck with fires.

I was a bit disappointed with my experience at Pizzaiolo Primo. It was out first time visiting the restaurant. The service was very slow and by the time our meal arrived we had to eat very quickly as we had tickets to a performance at the Bennedum. I would have rated our experience lower, but the food was quite good.
