Pizza Antica Danville
Pizza Antica's journey began over 10 years ago with the opening of the first location in Santana Row. Our goal was to evoke the feeling of eating in a classic Roman pizzeria, while cooking with pristine local ingredients from small family farmers. We have since opened additional restaurants in Mill Valley, Lafayette, and Danville.
Five of us celebrated a birthday, starting off with drinks and the olives and fried calamari as appetizers. Both were delicious! Some of us ordered pizzas, which were a very generous size, enough to take leftovers home. So if you don't have a really big appetite, I'd suggest two people sharing one pizza. We chose to share one affogato, which was yummy, and the perfect ending to our dinner.
The food was good, but the service was bad. It took twenty minutes before someone came over to give us water.
Always such a great place...staff makes you feel comfortable and welcome. Knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and very consistent. If ever a problem they respond effectively.
There were 9 of us and our waiter made the experience so enjoyable. The happy hour included every beverage on the menu with 50% off. Unheard of! We were loving the bread (foccasia?)!!
Our waiter was fabulous-we had 2 young children in our party and he went out of his way to make sure our waiting time was minimal-it was a very good experience!
The sausage mushroom pizza we ordered was burnt and not as flavorful as previous times.
Sat outside and took in the lovely street view and soaked up the beautiful weather under neath umbrellas. Perfect salad, pizza, house made soda & craft beer, and dessert with scrumptious espresso. Our servers were delightfully attentive but not intrusive. Would love to return, (and might), but we live in Auburn, and our college daughter who drove from SCU to meet us is graduating this June! Go! You won’t be disappointed.
Great food and friendly service. Excellent cocktails!
we love antica! we’ve been going since we moved here in 2005. first, we started in lafayette + now we are happy there is one in danville. we love their food, service, etc. my son’s friends Ronan + Coco work there. great kids!!
Great service, pricey pizza...,..,,...........................................,...
Midweek dinner outing with the family. Service was excellent and friendly. Food was great as always.
Enjoyed the food and the kindness of the waitress
The food was tasty but the service was really horrible. This was our 2nd visit to the restaurant and sadly, same type of service experience. Food arrived quickly, but after that we never saw anyone. We had to actively seek out someone (anyone) for all needs: more water, left over box, bill. We weren’t even there at a busy time, late afternoon. We definitely won’t be returning nor would I recommend this place to anyone.
I really love Pizza Antica, but now is time to bring a new dessert menu please.
Great food but very noisy when restaurant is full so hard to talk across the table.
Awesome food and good service
Over priced, mediocre food and service, lousy selection
Great pizza, salad and wine. Was pretty noisy, hard to hear/talk
Pizza Antica was just excellent. The gift of Danville is one of the few intelligent cities left that allows for free parking right near this restaurant. In short, thin but not overly doughy pizza. Excellent ingredients at the right purportions. Great for kids and good wine and beer list. We will be back. And thanks to OpenTable, an easy place to book for larger parites.
Love the hospitality and the service was great but not prompt. Like the feel of the place.
Quiet evening with excellent food and good service
Today’s lunch was a huge miss. We waited a long time for everything. We had to request bread 3 times before it arrived. Our salads came out with the pizza. Our pizza was cold. It had obviously been sitting for a while. Also waited forever for our check and for our change. Very short-handed or inexperienced??
Service was sketchy. Was ignored quite a bit and other diners got their meals ahead of us. We ordered the daily special. So, it’s not like we ordered something odd and unusual.
Too loud to have a meaningful conversation.
Food was good when we finally got it.
Service was terrible! We were there on a Sunday night and was raining, so it was NOT busy at all. No excuses!!
Right when I walked-in, I gave my card to the hostess to give to our waitress. I specifically instructed to charge the card and no one else's. We'll, that did NOT happen! I talked to the manager to refund her charge and charge my card. She said the issue was between me and my friend. Very unprofessional!
2. Waitress was very unattentive. There were 8 of us and our water jug was always empty. We had to asked for refill everytime we needed, even our teas.
3. Food did not come out in order. We had appetizers, then they brought our pizzas and Gnocchi out. Our salads came last!
Not recommending this place to anyone!
Modestly impressed with the Danville location of PA. Enjoy much more the Lafayette location. Service was mediocre - at best - and they only offer one size pizza (not enough to share).
2nd time in 2 weeks for me!! Love this place, love the food and the service is brilliant. My girls are on first name terms with the girls at the Front of House!
However, this visit was marred by the quality of our fettuccine- stuck together and a little cold.
Other than that all was well - we’ll be back very very soon!
I didn't have a bad experience here, but I also wouldn't return. There are way better places all around, and Pizza Antica fell short on our expectations. We've had dinner at many different Danville restaurants, and we have yet to find another one that we wouldn't come back to. There wasn't any one thing that was wrong, but the culmination of a number of small things that turned us off to returning. I wouldn't take anyone here or recommend this place to anyone that I like. On a positive note, the pizza was good. I'd consider ordering it to go.
Here is a quick breakdown of the oddities:
1. The menu is on brown paper with black writing. I almost took out my cell phone to light up the menu, and both the table on our right and left needed to do that so they could order. This must happen every night. Fix your menus.
2. I ordered gnocchi. Seems simple. Yet it came with a ton of arugala coated in lemon piled on top of the gnocchi. They get points for being creative, but it wasn't listed on the menu. I now had to dig through all the greens to get to my gnocchi. It was annoying.
3. The apple crisp is not crisp. It is baked apples with a layer of what appeared to be a nut meal and butter crumble. The crumble had a super powdery consistency and tasted funny. It was gross.
4. They took our leftover pizza to box it up, and brought the bill. I paid with a CC, which took a few minutes. We chatted for a few more minutes and then left. It was only on the way home that we realized they never brought us back our pizza. That was a bummer since the pizza was the one good thing we ate.
5. The staff was really nice, but they only came around every 10-15 minutes or so. I appreciate the privacy, but when my glass is empty you should stop by and ask if I need a refill. I read a few other reviews that this was an issue for others, and it was a bit odd.
All in all, it was just OK. 3 stars is about right.
The service we received was fantastic. Our server actually pored the wine out of the bottle instead of just the first glass and leave us to serve our selves. ( my pet peeve). The food is actually very good. To my surprise the restaurant is covered with kids below the age of 12 and is very noisy. If you and your date go here don’t come before 7:45 as you have kids climbing all over the furniture nearly knocking over the wine bottle on our table. The adult crowd sits in the bar or shows up past 7:45 and the music comes on to transform from Chuckee Cheese to Pizza Antica. I will be back at 7:45pm or at lunch on the patio.
We love Pizza Antica! It never disappoints.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Drew is super customer focused and friendly to all. Food is always fresh and delicious!
The service was good, as well as the food, it has a good variety of wines. They have space to sit outside and park nearby.
Loved the warm brussel sprout salad. Very tasty! Pizza is always good. It can get a bit loud, but if you don't mind that, it's a great place to go.
Very disappointed! Service poor! Could care less about you! Have to ask for extra utensils, cheese and peppers in a pizza house!!! Had a family with young children behind us had to move my chair as all that walked by hit me in my chair but no apologies. Vegan friend ordered fettuccine with mushrooms and waitress said, “I substituted with chicken because order wrong”?? She had to have it redone anyway without the chicken!! Could have comped dessert or wine or something!!
Service was terrible. Had to go and find someone to take our drinks order as we sat there for over 15 minutes being totally ignored
Great service and delicious pizzas! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys fresh, delicious food! I was celebrating my birthday with some girlfriends and they made me feel very special and we had no problem getting a reservation!
We got together with another family for a casual Friday night dinner, 4 adults, 3 kids. Hostess and wait staff friendly throughout. Plenty of menu choices for the adults as well as children, including gluten free pizza. Service was prompt and food was excellent.
Wait staff was excellent today. Always a good experience.
The restaurant is very good as the food is excellent but the noise was very loud with both the conversation and the music drowning out our conversation.
A wonderful place for family and friends to get together and enjoy an informal meal. Pizzas are particularly good. The crusts are first rate and baked perfectly. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful the people are who work here. The bartenders make excellent cocktails, they know the wine list (lots of Italian wines), they know the beers and they are quick to make suggestions and offer samples. Eating at the bar by yourself or with another person is always fun with good natured discussions with the bartenders and others. For table service, the wait staff is consistently helpful. Drew the GM is a gracious host, who after a couple of visits will know you, great you, and take the time to check in on how you and his restaurant are doing. This is a place my wife and I know we can always drop in and leave feeling that we had a great drink or dinner. It is a place we routinely take family when they are in town and everyone will enjoy the evening. On warm Danville nights, the outdoor tables are wonderful.
