Great food and ambiance - I thought the menu was really Interesting and had something for everyone. The only critique would be about the service. They rushed us to order and then forgot about us for 30 minutes as we waited for the check
Very good food in a unique and charming (though tight) space; can get noisy with a large group just sitting a foot away. And I am talking about the "garden room", not the dining room and bar (perfectly fine, but nondescript) when you enter the restaurant. Friendly and efficient service.
But don't book this restaurant if a. you are not absolutely sure you can made it; they threaten a $25 cancellation fee per person, if you cancel less than 24 hours ahead or b. you have people with walking disabilities in your party; as you have to negotiate several steps. Definitely not wheelchair accessible; though you probably make it on crutches.
Poor service, portions small for value of dish, food average
Niño - It's a perfect dinner date to take your significant other to celebrate special occasions. Food was Delicious and the room was decorated with flowers. The place is small and tight but nothing matters when the person you love is enjoying the view and she's sitting in front of you.
The food was bland and strange. We love atheists food but this was not good.
Beautiful 'old home' setting on quiet West Village street. Food was good but a bit pricey, limited in variety, and service was below par for this type of restaurant. I would recommend to a friend for ambience and decent Thai food but not rave about it
The food was pretty good! One of the better thai fusion food around town. The service was a little weird, I would say they’re not friendly, rarely smile, and just ruins the whole dining experience. The restaurant is very beautiful though
Nice staff, good food, way too cold to be seated in the garden.
I actually came to Pinto Garden for dinner which so delicious! When I saw they offered afternoon tea, I was ecstatic and invited my friends.
When we got there, they gave us brunch menus but we requested to get the afternoon tea menu. Our waiter seemed very confused and gave us the drinks menu instead. When I showed him the menu on the website, he went back and gave us the correct menu's. That wasn't the main issue, but it got us wondering if this was even a thing here.
We asked how many platters (said it comes with sandwiches, homemade scones, clotted cream, jam, homemade pastries) were enough for five people and our waiter wasn't sure at all. He had to read the menu and then said maybe two. Keep in mind that two of these are 60 dollars. He also told us that they only had two teas out of the six listed. At this point it felt as if no one had ever asked for afternoon tea here.
After around 40 mins of waiting, we saw a woman drop off our food to the kitchen and we were like what is going on. Then they came out with the two very small three-tired platters. At this point we were impressed that something was even put together. They didn't have the scones and the sandwiches were tiny. Imagine small squares of white bread with the crust cut off, mayo and then cucumbers or a sliver of smoked salmon. The clotted cream was straight up butter. The pastries were good but it was finger food, not a meal. It just was not enough food for five people. We asked for another platter and that took another 30 mins where the woman had to come back and deliver the food.
At this point we were just hungry, disappointed and confused. I'll give it to the waiter for trying, but I just wish that they had told us that they didn't do afternoon tea. I mean if they did, something needs to change. The worst part was that two of those platters was $60. Not worth it at all.
My conclusion: Pinto Garden for dinner is great! Great atmosphere, great service. But DO NOT do the afternoon tea.
Staff was very rude pressing they had to close only one hour from sitting at table as per our reservation time. Dinner and drinks were not even finished while desert was out of question. Although food was good, the service was absolutely poor and staff rude. Don’t even try!
Overpriced
Pretty but pricey.
I generally love the food here but my son got the crab meat entree and the sauce was so hot and spicy that it was inedible... I’m a lover of spicy food but this was too much...they were very gracious about it and provided a complimentary desert..
Great food, back covered patio is the place to sit, good service!
My friends and I had never been before and were surprised to find ourselves seated in the beautiful backyard greenhouse. All of the food was delicious and reasonably priced for the ambiance and level of service! Would highly recommend Pinot Garden!
Food was fresh and seasonal with some good flavor , but I would have enjoyed a bit more spice(heat). Spring rolls were well prepared, beautifully presented . We love to eat family style which is what they recommend. We also ordered the short ribs which had a delicious broth, but needed more heat. The spicy vegetables were good but not at all spicy.
The garden room was fine . Nothing too special.
Great spot!! Loved the chicken pad Thai and the pumpkin vegetable curry. Everything was very flavorful with great presentation. I have a gluten allergy so was great that there were plentiful options.
The back room is an enclosed greenhouse and very lovely. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. Our group had a variety of dishes - including duck, shrimp, and vegetarian- and they were all tasty and fully satisfying. The service was fine - nothing special - but satisfactory. The wine list was fine - but not extensive. We will dedicated be back!
My second visit to this great restaurant, I had a delicious lamb curry and my daughter had the green curry topped with a pie crust puff. This is not your typical Thai, I love the fact it’s Thai with a twist and every dish felt lovingly made to order.
The ambiance is so cool in the back with a boho green house effect. Gorgeous!
The front of the restaurant is non traditional but so cozy!
The service was outstanding. Will be back here on my next visit to NYC for sure.
Fun atmosphere in the back room. Good food, somewhat expensive for what you get.
Great restaurant and service
Wonderful service and food. So glad we found it.
Beautifully prepared and presented food. All dishes excellent. But loved the shrimp donut appetizer. A definite hit at our table! Service very good: attentive but not hovering.
The food was quite disappointing and the service was too slow.
We we’re greeted right away but when asked to sit in the back. The waitress told us it was crowded. However, people that came in shortly after, asked to be seated in the back got a table. This happen on several occasions. The food was ok definitely not worth the almost $200 bill for 3 that didn’t include alcohol. My family and I didn’t feel welcomed at first. The waiter was nice but it almost felt like we didn’t get served the best food almost rushed. There’s nothing I would recommend it was almost like the restaurant was trying to be too different. This isn’t the place to go for authentic Thai.
The food was so good and there're also too cute for photography too. Love to seat right here in the back garden.
Amazing brunch. Definitely would come back!
Good service
Our waiter was so kind!! And the food and drinks were delicious! The back patio is soooooo beautiful
Very hot day! Poor a/c. On Wednesday from 1-2 pm we were the only guests. Place can benefit from a/c.
Such a beautiful place. At first I was skeptic that a place that looks like a flower shop/cottage could have good Thai food, but after eating there I am a fan. The mains were very good! I had pad thai (very traditional) and my bf had the short rib dish. He said the short rib dish was one of the best things he's ever had. So great for dates.
Excellent Thai food in a very pleasant gardenlike space. Service was cordial and efficient.
It was goodp
An incredible spot for a date or dinner with a friend. Delicious and fresh ingredients. Dreamy ambience.
We went for a friends birthday and the staff were exceptionally attentive. They brought the two of us complimentary flutes of champagne when we sat down, and a little banana pudding at the end.
The food was excellent, though I felt a bit pricey. I had the fried chicken and jasmine rice. The birthday girl has the braised short rib in a yellow curry. Both were delicious!
If it is nice out, request to sit in the garden! I felt like I was in Alice in Wonderland, the atmosphere was so rich and immersive.
I can't wait to try Pinto Gardens brunch next!
Great place for Thai food in the west village. All the food we ordered was very good and the garden in the back is great in the summer
Seated at the garden area and it happened to be hot, hazy and humid that day. I asked the hostess to seat us inside and I saw ample seating. She said the tables were reserved for a group party.
I had a table for 2 and arrived 15 minutes early for my 8 pm reservations. She refused to change my seating arrangement inside where it’s much cooler. By the time we left, around 9 pm, those same tables were still unoccupied.
We were seated at a table for 2 at a corner in a small garden area. There was a funky smell. And, when the tables are filled, the place can get noisy from all the chatter. Other than that, the service was good. Great food presentation!
By the way, the prices stated on the OT menu are outdated compared to the menu handed to us. The prices have dramatically increased. That’s why, I only places 3 stars on Value.
Duck noodle was very bland however the minced chicken had a lot of flavour.
I wouldn't recommend it. The service lacks clear communication, was indifferent and slow. The food was mediocre and not worth the price tag.
The food was exquisite. Service was descent. We were sat in the posterior garden which had very nice decor and initial good vibes.
However has the meal progressed the cacophony of screeches from various tables was further amplified by the materials and sound structure surrounding the garden.
Moreover the drinks were quite expensive (even for West Village) for what they were.
