Located in Wilmington, NC, PinPoint Restaurant serves food deeply rooted in Southern tradition. The menu changes daily and features local seasonal offerings from Wilmington’s farmers, fishermen, oystermen, and crabbers as much as possible.
We always enjoy this restaurant’s quality food and bar beverages. They set themself apart by presenting a limited entree menu and delivering exceptional style and service.
Food is fabulous, beautifully presented and well described. Service is excellent, informative and enjoyable. Noise level is high for a high end restaurant which affects ambiance and is due to hardscape interior. Hoping owner will work on this problem as we so enjoy the food but find the noise detracts from our evening.
PinPoint is one truly wonderful dining experience in North Carolina. The food, service, and ambiance are consistently great. And Pinpoint continues to experiment with proven delights. The baked oyster small plate included a new spicy sauce and the fried chicken coating and sauce had a maple tinge that heightened the enjoyment of the dish. Service was superior, attentive, and helpful. Dessert and coffee completed the evening. looking forward to an exciting Fall season in downtown Wilmington!
Our first time there, and we’ll definitely go again.
The food was tremendous...and I am Whole Food Plant Based...they totally accommodated my eating style and did it with extreme skill! It may be the best meal I have had in Wilmington NC, in the three years I have lived here...totally wowing! We had the Hummus as an appetizer, my mom got the Cobia, me the Vegetable plate that they altered (as already mentioned)...beyond impressed! For dessert, my mom got the Peanut Butter Cocoa Nib ice cream (that had a coconut base, I believe, so it was Vegan friendly) while I got the most extraordinary dessert EVER...the Beet and Basil Sorbet! It intrigued me and I am so glad I got it...holy wow!!! Words can’t describe how scrumptious! I highly recommend this restaurant...if you are looking to get in and out or for a quiet atmosphere...you should look elsewhere. It is on the louder side and it was a bit of time spent there...but, you can’t rush perfection!!
We were excited to go here based on recent write ups. Unfortunately it really wasn't a good experience for us. Bizarre seating where one side is much higher than the other. The fish tasted like it had gone bad. The waiter didn't seem surprised which scared me a bit. We ended up throwing away about 80% of one of the more expensive meals in wilmington and the waiter could have cared less. We wont be back.
I was hoping for more seafood dishes - particularly some simple grilled dishes.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Nice restaurant decor, quiet and intimate. We dined early evening though. Would definitely return and recommend. Cocktails were middle of the road.
Not a romantic spot for a date the menu only has maybe 5 entrees and it’s so loud inside that it’s hard to hear did not have a good experience for the price we paid absolutely unacceptable and will never be going back
LOVE their original use of local, seasonal veggies.
One of the best meals of my life! The Acorn squash gnocchi dish had so many flavors and was out of this world delicious. Pleasantly surprised reading the chef used to be associated with a restaurant in Asheville that I’ve enjoyed too! But honestly a meal I’ll never forget during a very special Wilmington weekend!
Some staple dishes are great but lately are lacking consistency.
My husband loved his Triggerfish dish. Soft shell crab was just one crab and a little over-fried, so a little disappointing. The butterbean hummus was awesome, as was the brownie dessert.
The food is locally sourced and organic (as able) with a daily menu depending on what’s available. Great vegetarian options as well. Food is top notch, wine selection is awesome. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly.
Overpriced but food was good and friendly staff. Enjoyed trying a new place but most likely won’t be back.
Need a few more menu selections but food was very good
Not the best meal or even top ten, but good food, some unique options and fresh food
The food was DELICIOUS!! We went all out with appetizer, soup, mains, and dessert and everything was awesome!
Excellent food and service. Will definitely recommend this
restaurant to friends.
The food was delicious, but the portions were small and the prices relatively high, for the drinks and the menu items. There was a moldy odor when entering, though I ceased to notice it after a short while.
Great food and service as usual
Took a co-worker who lives in Wilmington (I live in Raleigh) and she loved it. Both of us were in the clean plate club!
Pin Point always has a creative menu and is able to accommodate special dietary needs. One thing...there is cheese and dairy in many dishes, as someone who needs to avoid it (and gluten) this was somewhat frustrating. Didn’t except cheese in hummus. That said, we would eat here more often (not just special occasion) if we lived in the area. Delicious food! Great service.
Phenomenal experience! We had THE BEST meals, ever! The food was incredible. Every bite was filled with flavors that are hard to describe. The scallops and the pork chop are not to be missed. In addition, the staff went above and beyond to make our anniversary dinner an awesome experience. We can’t wait to return!
Great Wilmington restaurant. Fresh tasty food with vegetarian options.
If you can get past the terrible mildew smell when dining, the food is delicious!
Phenomenal meal, service, and ambience. Well done!
Outstanding food! Excellent service. Very interesting menu, changes daily. Loud, so don’t expect a quiet dinner.
Fried chicken breast was very juicy and tender, served with a delightful succotash. Snapper was perfectly cooked and delicious. Hanger steak was tender, flavorful, and made my extremely picky 20-year-old rave.
We really enjoyed PinPoint, and would gladly return for a special dinner when we’re back in the area.
Had s gift certificate so decided to use it before we lost it! Surprised how spacious the interior was. Good drinks, husbands Manhattan was great! Kitchen was made aware of husbands allergies to onion and garlic. There were only a few options but what he got was fantastic. I got the catfish, superb! Food is very pricey, husbands entreaties 39$$. For price we may not go back for dinner perhaps drinks and appetizers.
Liked the entees, just was not crazy about the corn chowder.
Very loud. Food presentation was lovely, but not a lot of flavor. I felt it was very overpriced. Service was wonderful. Atmosphere is fun... just super echo-ey.
We had an excellent experience! Everyone welcomes us this evening and Mike our server was outstanding! Our choices were:
Humus & octopus for apps and pork and seasonal vegetable dishes for the mains. Can’t wait to go back!
Excellent food and service. I had the oyster sampler (2 of each), the peach salad and the veggie plate followed by homemade ice-cream. All were we'll prepared and an adventure to eat. My wife had the pickled sampler plate and hanger steak. Excellent.
Not a big fan of the tables along the walls and the noise level, but that is the way the floor space is arranged. I might try to rethink the back of the room to add something to the ambience.
Creative menu - fresh ingredients locally sourced - well balanced wine list - and exceptional service!
Food and service was excellent. I had the red snapper with lobster risotto and it was the best risotto I've ever had. My husband had the hangar steak, which was also excellent. The noise level is high because it's an old building with brick walls. Try to get a window seat where the lighting and noise level is the best.
Over an hour to get food. Was told when I ordered pork chop it would take “extra time”. When I questioned why taking so long was told takes 40 minutes. Gentleman I inquired at hostess stand with was very unsympathetic and acted as though I shouldn’t even question the wait, telling me “dining with us is a two hour experience”. While the appetizer we had was delicious, the pork chop was dry and tough. After the wait interaction experience, I didn’t bother to say anything. As for price, $160 for one appetizer and four entrees before alcohol. With drinks, $225 before tip. All in all, very overpriced for what it is. In spite of the above experience, we did think our server was awesome.
This is a good restaurant for adventurous diners. However if your taste is meat and potatoes you may not be thrilled with it. It is rather cavernous and therefore loud. It is not conducive to relaxed conversation. Oyster and tuna apps were fantastic. Main meals were enjoyed but again they were adventurous. This is an expensive restaurant. Be prepared. Service was excellent.
Amazing and wonderful experience! Would recommend to anyone. Service was excellent and food was outstanding!
Outstanding in every way!! Loved the pimento cheese...and the smoked catfish was to die for...ditto corn soup...and the peach jar dessert awesome!! We'll definitely be back. Service was impeccable as well.
Requested and received a window table. This has become our favorite restaurant in Wilmington. Happened to arrive on a Monday for half priced wine and oysters. Excellent. We had the catfish again—best around. Highly recommend this restaurant. Try their appetizer specials, oysters and especially the catfish—although the hangar steak is worth its own visit.
