Located in Wilmington, NC, PinPoint Restaurant serves food deeply rooted in Southern tradition. The menu changes daily and features local seasonal offerings from Wilmington’s farmers, fishermen, oystermen, and crabbers as much as possible.
Way too noisy - hard to talk to person across table.
Fantastic meal, the flavors were will matched, the presentation beautiful. Ours is a family who enjoys dining and we were VERY impressed!
Food was excellent. Imaginative combination of ingredients and very well prepared and presented. Lovely casual setting. No fuss just pleasant atmosphere and very good service. The fresh oysters were local and fabulous. Wonderful!
Went for Mother’s Day brunch, great food, great service. Very enjoyable, can’t wait to go back!
Took a party of 6 for Saturday night dinner. The restaurant itself is in a lovely ample space full of character. The server took our order, and after 45 minutes of no food, no communication from the server, and not so much as crumb of bread, I asked another waiter how much longer for our food. He said that the pork chop, which 2 members of our party ordered, takes a minimum of 42 minutes, which our server should have explained to us. I then asked for bread for the table, which no one bothered to bring before, and he brought a small saucer of 6 small pieces of bread with 2 pats of butter for our hungry party of 6. About 15 minutes later, our food cane out, not together, but over a span of about 5 minutes, and one guest’s pork chop was raw inside and couldn’t be eaten. They removed the raw pork chop from our bill and sent out 3 complimentary desserts. They also apologized for the experienced. That said, the food that was cooked properly was ok. The venue is very loud and it was difficult to have a conversation at our table. I don’t regret trying the restaurant, but I don’t intend to return.
Fabulous farm to table, locally sourced food. Big city ambience. Attentive wait staff. Favorite Wilmington restauarant. Always delicious.
We were looking forward to an excellent meal but left feeling let down. My veggie plate was good , but missing the wow factor needed for a $24 plate of vegetables. I would have ordered the special if our waitress had only shared that information with us. Overall a disappointing experience.
A friend recommended Pinpoint to us. My wife and I both had the flounder. Meticulously prepared with a delightful variety of flavors on the plate. We learned the menu can change daily based on what fresh items are available. Our only reservation is there were only two entree items that appealed to us. With a menu that varies, we might have hit a night that wasn’t the best for us, but we will return!
We had not been to PinPoint for some time and this visit reminded us of how much we enjoy this restaurant. Start (oysters) to entrees (flounder and hangar steak) to finish (brownie) were spectacular! Service was excellent. We won’t be away for so long a time.
Only 3 salads on menu none of which appealed to us. Typical farm to table. I had a large pork chop that was very good but sides were not notable. Wife had catfish and her whole meal was average. Service was excellent and it was quiet enough we could talk.
Great service, great food, gracious staff...really enjoyed the Easter Sunday menu
Great food and prompt service!
The food was DELICIOUS and the staff was very nice and professional.
Very nice place to go, have a great meal. People are friendly and menu is different from typical places but food is good. Would go again.
overall a very nice place, we were visiting from new jersey. the food was fantastic! staff was great! definitely will be coming back!
Great, imaginative food. Great service.
Pinpoint was amazing! Brought my boyfriend there to celebrate his new job. Chris was an extremely great, responsive server who had ALL of the recommendations! He got the pork chop and I got the snapper, and we started with the calamari/shrimp wraps. SOOO GOOD! Will definitely return!
The food was excellent . Great new flavors. However, the hostess was less than welcoming. As we walked in, we commented on how freezing it was in there. She said, in an offhand manner, “It will warm up” . We were seated in the front where all the air vents are located. I put on my jacket and we sat down . About 5-10 minutes later, after we had tried a couple of tables, she moved us to the back where, indeed, it was warmer. Out server was good, very knowledgeable and prompt. I asked if they did anything for birthdays and he said “Maybe”. At the end of the meal , I asked again with the same response. We did not order dessert , just coffee. As it turns out, they don’t do anything for birthdays, but he was going to put a candle in our dessert if we had ordered. Why not say that at the beginning? Not a great feeling as we left the restaurant. It’s a pity, since the food was great. Maybe, I’ll try it on a different night but it was not a wonderful feeling that makes you want to Return.
Food Excellent wait staff great. Sound transmission terrible hard to carry on conversation.
Always delicious, always courteous. We love this place!! The butter bean hummus appetizer is to die for. Staff is always willing to please. There’s a reason we keep coming back!!!
Amazing restaurant, food, service, and atmosphere was excellent. Our favorite place in town to celebrate any occasion.
Brought a new couple to Wilmington and they were impressed. Monday is a great night with the wine and oyster specials. They love oysters and were not disappointed. The main entrees were great especially the catfish.
The food so was delicious! Wished we lived closer so we could go more frequently!
Great food and great bartender!
The staff was great, our waiter was super helpful and efficient throughout the meal. The food was delicious, the menu is printed nightly so the dishes can and will be varied. If you have a picky eater this might not be the place, but for people who are foodies like myself everything was delicious!
Excellent food , ambiance and our waiter was terrific.
Always enjoy ourselves when we dine at Pinpoint.
The entire experience was excellent! Best experience of all the restaurants we tried in Wilmington
Excellent food with superb service. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, helping make our dinner very enjoyable.
This was the second time dining at Pinpoint and this meal was as good as the last. Great wine list and
there is something on the menu for everyone. My guest had local oysters and I had the tuna tartare to
start both outstanding. Waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable. Looking forward to returning
to Wilmington in May and taking my family.
After I heard that Chef Dean left PinPoint, I was concerned about the impact it would have on the quality of the experience. I am happy to say that the quality was not compromised at all. Five of us dined there on Sunday night and there wasn’t a false note in any of our entrees. We had a wonderful dinner and can’t wait to get back there.
We had a wonderful experience. we went for sunday brunch and it was delicious. We had burgers, catfish and pancakes and everyone was extremely satisfied. The specialty Cocktails - house made bloody mary and blood orange margarita were really good as well.
Very creative dishes but lacked taste . No seasoning on the soft shell crab or catfish both bland. I also ordered an Old fashioned and it wasn’t balanced, mostly bourbon and no taste of meddled orange or cherry. Lastly, bench seating against the wall was uncomfortable no back support. Perhaps a off night ... it happens .
Wonderful meal and terrific service.
Our second dinner at PinPoint and both have been great. While we had different wait staff, both were excellent. The food is always fresh (farm to table restaurant) with innovative preparation and presentation.
Hit the brunch the last two weekends. Limited selection but very good food, as is the case with their dinner menu. We’ve had every item on their menu, including the new Monte Cristo. Try their banana nut bread.
Service was good. Kitchen was on their game. They were busy, but able to accommodate walk-ins. PinPoint is a much better option than several of the other restaurants that have lines out the door.
We so enjoyed our anniversary meal at PinPoint! I had a pork chop that was so amazing I can hardly describe it. The veggies that accompanied it were fantastic as well. My husband had a soft-shell crab dinner that he wouldn't give 5 stars but definitely 4. We shared a warm brownie with ice cream that was yummy. SO -- I would give it a 5 star overall ranking.
Best part of PinPoint is that you can always count on high quality local ingredients, prepared well. We had the hangar steak & pork chop, as well as salads prepared from fresh lettuces. We also shared a fresh ginger panna cotta, which was fresh & delightful.
Pinpoint is the place to go for locally sourced gourmet Southern food. My husband usually orders steak wherever we go but the magic that goes into every aspect of the veggie plate makes it his go-to every time. Butter bean hummus is a must. If you only order dessert when it’s spectacular- then don’t miss the last course at Pinpoint. From start to finish - fantastic!
Such an outstanding experience every single time: from the food to the service (and servers--such great personalities all around) :)
