Pinon's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My expensive lamb chops were not prime and definitely not worth the price tag! However, My husband did love the veal chop! As for the service, I believe our waiter was dead from the neck up. At these prices, a little attentiveness would have been appreciated. This restaurant may be living off it's reputation and not present day reality!
While the food was delicious, I find it objectionable to be charged a split fee of $8, given that two dishes were ordered, in addition to a glass of wine, and none of these items were inexpensive. I made the mistake of using the word "split" regarding the entree and, by golly, they tacked on an extra $8 on top of the price (already $52) of the entree, without even itemizing that fee on the check. I can't imagine that the $8 is more significant to this restaurant than maintaining goodwill. Live and learn.
Not my first time at Pinions, which I always have considered one of the top 2-3 restaurants in Aspen. This latest visit affirmed my opinion. Outstanding and creative menu, delicious food and first rate service. Also, amazing wine list and knowledgeable sommelier. It boasts a very comfortable and warm ambience. The halibut and pasta special (seafood ravioli) were to die for.
The trout was exceptional. Very extensive wine selection. We split the iceberg salad and it was a perfect size and delicious. My husband loved his filet...perfectly cooked with delicious mashed potatoes. The service was fantastic once we told them after about 10 minutes we haven't seen a waiter. Service was friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
A little disappointed---despite notating that we are celebrating my wife's birthday when we booked the table on Opentable, that was not noted. Luckily, I was able to "remind them" discretely, when my wife stepped out briefly.
Food was good. Wine list good. Saved the night
Piñon' has been our favorite Aspen restaurant for decades. Truly a gem. The staff is very gracious and professional without any pretentiousness and always welcoming. The food has stayed modern and creative. We love the Freddy Salad. You will not find fresher fish anywhere unless you are on a boat! We return again and again.
Food is solid.. atmosphere is nice. Way overpriced for the non innovative cuisine. It's good but nothing you'll remember in a year. Also service is insanely rushed. We had to slow our water down, before on course was done the next was being served. Too fast .. not relaxing pace.
Restaurant was very crowded and we kept getting chairs knocked by the flood of waiters, bussers, etc. Felt rushed to order food and move on. The sole special (though tasty) was a ripoff at $68, but our fault for not asking the price of a special before ordering. Overall the food quality was good, but not worth those prices. Aspen has better quality food at slightly lower prices elsewhere. The coat check lady could not find our coats for literally 10 minutes.
We had a large party of 10. We ordered many different items, including salads, seafood and meat from both the appetizer section and the entrees. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. Desserts were delicious as well. The wine selection was extensive.
For it being a nice restaurant I wouldn't expect to be so rushed like we were. Not waiting too long is nice but you barely had a chance to touch one course before the next came. It was almost as though It was a fast food place where everything was made already and they just wait for someone to order it and they bring it out right away.
VALENTINE'S DAY DINNER WAS PERFECT. SEATED ON TIME IN A QUIET CORNER WHERE WE COULD ACTUALLY TALK TO EACH OTHER; NOTE THAT THE MAIN PART OF THE RESTAURANT WAS MUCH NOISIER. PROMPT SERVICE, VERY GOOD FOOD AND A NICE DESSERT. OVERALL, VERY ENJOYABLE. ONE GLASS OF WINE EACH, SMALL SALADS, ENTREE AND DESSERT THAT WE SPLIT COST JUST OVER $200 WITH TIP.
