Pinky's Rooftop - Royal Oak
Was probably our fault going to a pop-up restaurant on the very last night it was open. our service was less than adequate but the food was very good. The manager did intervene at one point and made things much better and even comped some items for us. they hope to open a permanent location in the Royal oak area on the future and I would be willing to check it out then. Again, the food was very good.
Food and atmosphere was great. Our reservation was for New Year’s Eve, and our waitress seemed to be extremely overwhelmed. We didn’t even get someone to get us water or acknowledge our able for about a half hour. Other than that we loved the restaurant and are looking forward to hopefully returning again.
We went for New Year’s Eve and sat at the bar. There was only one bar tender and she was very frazzled. Many of us waited 20+ minutes for a drink, the bar tender was barking at every one. Not her fault that she was by herself but you have to provide service with a smile.
Our server, Sam, provided the best service I've received in a while! We did a family style meal (ordered lots of small dishes and shared) so we sampled quite a bit! The mushroom gnocchi, brussel sprouts, mozzarella appetizer, lamb pasta, and carrot cake were the best!! The ambiance was great and our entire party enjoyed the meal!
Service is good stuff are friendly,I just don’t like when they charge you for a wine tasting.
Awesome food and service!! We understand that this is a pop-up restaurant due to close 12-31-18. We hope they find a space to open.
Great food and service, just like the original in Howell.
I love the Cello restaurant in Howell, but think the version in Royal Oak is undergoing growing pains.
The wait-person was good - just too many tables and bartending responsibilities for one person.
My lemon pasta was not particularly flavorful and the veal dish was tough.
On the other hand, 2 folks of our party thought the shrimp dish was wonderful.
I will return, but not for a while, until things are hopefully a little more settled.
We enjoyed Cello last Saturday night. The food was delicious, authentic Italian food. We tried many different dishes (eggplant, veal, baked ziti, mushroom gnocchi, salmon, garlic bread) and it was all amazing. We loved our waiter Sam and trainee Donna. We know this is a temporary location for the restaurant and we are hoping they move to a smaller space and open a permanent restaurant in Royal Oak. We did think the space was very cool and modern, just felt way to big. We will definitely try it again!
The restaurant was just about empty. The bartender was also the server and things were delivered quite slowly. After ordering she came back to say they were out of fettuccine noodles. Not quite sure how an Italian restaurant runs out of a certain kind of noodle, but they did. No type of compensation was offered, either. They could have offered something off the bill or threw in a dessert, but nothing was offered to help our disappointment.
The Wild Mushroom Gnocchi was incredible! The restaurant is located above the Steak restaurant that is owned by the same person. There is a handy parking garage located directly behind the location. There is a nice outdoor seating area for the summer too!
Though it was a little chilly, Cello had amazing food from apps to after dinner drinks! Try the Apple Ginger Limoncello, seriously. I'd go back just for that.
Was very impressed with Cello Restaurant in Howell so I took some people to the Royal Oak location. Very disappointed in the quality of the food and the ambiance of the place. Obviously the talent still remains in Howell.
Food was very good. The dishes were served hot. Parking structure was right behind restaurant.
Amazing food! Sure hope Cello finds a permanent spot in royal oak. Loved the small plates option!
Great experience, only complaint was paint fumes from renovations. Food and drinks were great, so was service.
First time to Red Fox to taste the Cello menu. The food was very good, nice alcohol selection and our server was great. The Limoncello was to die for!!
We really enjoyed Cello! Food was excellent, staff was attentive, and atmosphere was urban chic. We need more places like this in Royal Oak (versus bars with bar food). They also have many gluten free options. Just scoot right up the stairs of the back door (they are renovating the downstairs restaurant which is looking good!) I also love that you can make reservations. I hope they find a permanent place in our community!
Great service. We did not like one dish and it was removed from our bill. The cocktails and food were delicious.
Didn't realize that they were under construction. Very strong smell of paint getting to the dining room and, unfortunately, during dinner. They probably should have closed to renovate as this left a negative first impression with our party. The food, however, was outstanding. Everything we had was delicious. If they can figure out the transition, they should be successful. Think about creating a good experience before, during and after the transition.
I was surprised the food was as good as it was given I think of this as a pub (it used to be pub style food) and Italian is not their specialty. However, the garlic bread was amazing, pork tenderloin very tender and flavorful, and tortelloni was great. We agreed we would be coming back.
Cello is only open for a limited time. The downstairs will become a steak restaurant. Upstairs will be tapas. We hope Cello resurfaces somewhere in Royal Oak. Try it now before it evolves.
Although our server came to the table frequently, we had to ask for everything, including our appetizer. It ended up being served after our entree and salad (which came at the same time) were already on the table. As for the food, we each order the smaller serving. My salmon portion was okay but it did not come with anything, not even a garnish! Way over priced. Companions felt the same way about their entrees. We order a large salad to share. Unfortunately, it was drenched in dressing and very soggy. Portion size wasn't that large but we didn't even finish it. Food was over priced, not that tasty, and service wasn't that good.
Everything was delicious! We had bruschetta, Caesar salad, arugala salad, garlic bread, chicken parmesan, carbonara, mushroom gnocchi and the BEST roasted brussel sprouts! In house made limoncello is a must! Will be back!
