Giving light to the fact that we dined during the COVID-19 pandemic... my date and I were seated immediately, it took 14 minutes for someone to recognize that we didn’t have any water in our cups. Someone finally came and filled our glasses but quickly walked away. We were seated for an addition 10 minutes before a nearby waiter asked if “she” had come by our table yet and when we said no, the waiter grunted and walked away. An additional 5-7 minutes pass before the same waiter returned to ask what we wanted to drink besides water. We order both our drinks and food. We’re told the drinks and appetizer would be out shortly.
It took approximately 20 minutes for our drinks and fried green tomatoes to be served. The green tomato wasn’t ripe and was somewhat bitter in taste and hard in texture. The drinks were great.
We watched two other tables come in when we received our drinks and appetizer and the were serviced immediately. Their food arrived while our main dishes were MIA! The waiter comes by and states that our food should arrive soon. In total, it took 30 more minutes before our main dishes were served. Both orders were incorrect and we mention that to the waiter and she gets noticeably upset and directed her anger towards my date and I.
I immediately ask if she could send a manager to the table and she claims that she wasn’t even the original waiter for our table. I stated that the service time was terrible and she walked away. Another 5-7 minutes pass and the “manager” comes and begins explaining the service is slow and that he’d pay for a carafe.
We explain the risk we took to continue to support small business in the midst of COVID-19. He tried to use COVID-19 as an excuse for the slow business until we asked how our table wasn’t serviced as timely as some of the surrounding tables. He shrugged his shoulders and said our order may have been overlooked.
The entire staff was AMAZING!!!!! Our servers gave me recommendations for things to keep my daughter occupied during school closures!!! The chef even whipped us up a fresh batch of their phenomenal fresh lavender whipped creme!!!
Blythe Beck is an amazing chef, and we truly love her presence in the restaurant. She brings a great atmosphere to her delicious food.
We are excited for her next adventure!
What a wonderful evening. We celebrated our 25th anniversary and were greeted with champagne and roses. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced...and the service was exceptional! We’ve been seeing Pink all week!
Delightful brunch. Met the head chef and the pastry chef. Both were approachable and friendly.
Good drinks but the service was terrible. Be prepared to wait a long time to be greeted by server and get your food and drink order in.
The bar tender was also the hostess, which meant drink service was slow. I ordered two Blackberry on Rye, and the first was delicious but the second one tasted like a completely different drink. The crab dip was delicious.
I hated to be let down but my lamb chops were burnt they had little to none of the chutney on it. My husbands steak was pink he even said it looked like a pork chop instead of a steak. The shrimp and grits were dry and had barley any sauce on the dish looked nothing like the picks on the internet and the drinks were watered down. We asked for a shot of Don Julio resposado and the brought the anejo watered down and we didn’t ask for ice. I guess the chef was tired. I reservation was at 10. One good thing soon as we walked in they called me by name.
Our 1st time here...wanted to try something different for Valentines Day...preciously read article about the chef so we decided to check it out...Excellent choice...everyone gave outstanding service & the food double outstanding...Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger—We’ll be back!
Overall, the place wasn't bad, the best thing on the menu we had was the shrimp and grits.
Disclaimer: We had the lamp chop lollipops, shrimp and grits, and the bacon cheddar meatloaf, an the strawberry shortcake (made with a biscuit).
The lamp chops we ordinary, meeting to special, they were ordered medium rare but only 1 was medium, the other 3 were medium well.
Again, the shrimp and grits were fine, as expected. Poor presentation but good flavor.
The meat loaf was really salty and drenched in BBQ sauce. The amount sauce was a bit overwhelming and detracted from the meatloaf flavor. It was moist and fairly good, wrapped in bacon, which I'm sure added to salt content.
The strawberry shortcake, made with a biscuit, was a little tough cut through. I feel as if they could've soaked the biscuit first to soften it. It was a little overcooked and we could tell it wasn't really fresh.
I give it a 3 star overall, average, it had it's good and bad parts.
My girlfriend and I's Valentine's day meal started out nicely enough. The hostess had thoughtfully lated out roses on our table and filled our water glasses and gave us our menus. Unfortunately our waitress was a little "out of it" (she had just started her shift, so probably pregame'd beforehand... understandable I guess...). We ordered coffee-liqueur based cocktails from the drink menu and were served actual hot drip coffee. After our appetizer was finished she gathered our silverware and didn't bring new silverware to replace it; I ended up stealing some from an empty table after our meals came out. The food was undeniably overpriced, but not of bad quality or anything. I wished they had put salt and pepper on the table, but none to be found.
Service was great. Menu looks great but food didn’t measure up to expectation. Bone in ribeye was thinner than other restaurants. Food was OK but not well seasoned and just kind of bland. Expected more savory food.
Celebrating friend’s upcoming wedding.
Jerrick, our waiter, was great! The food and drinks were awesome as well. I’ll definitely be returning!
This restaurant was our dinner selection prior to a special event at the Kessler Theater.
This is a hidden GEM! Our waitress knew every ingredient of every dish. She gushed about the head chef and owner who’s preferences defined this special restaurant.
Our waitress was able to talk us through our individual likes and dislikes to help each of us select our ideal drink, appetizer, entree and desert. Our waitress also shared special drink selections and recent special additions.
We will be back and we will share our experience with friends and co workers
I’ve been when it was so much better. Couldn’t even find a spoon for my shrimp and grits.
Disappointed. The decor is tired and worn. Needs a revamp with change of seating. The paper menus deserved to be in the trash. Food was ok. Fried okra was marvelous. Full pod fried crispy and retained a wonderful taste. Cocktails were yummy. Prices are too high.
Great food and an awesome atmosphere is what brought me back for a second visit. The mimosas are very tasty and come in unique flavors. Try the biscuits and butter or the deviled eggs as a shareable. The hoecakes or the rib eye are great brunch items.
Pink Magnolia has been our favorite restaurant find since we moved to Dallas 4 years ago this past December 2019. We were checking out the Bishop Arts District when we happened upon it and have been going back again and again and absolutely love Chef Blythe Beck. We frequently take friends when they come in to town to show it off as our favorite go to restaurant. The food is nothing but spectacular, southern down home cooking with sometimes added liberties and twists. We have never had a bad meal whether dining for breakfast, Sunday Brunch or dinner.
Unfortunately this was the second time that there were issues with glasses that were delivered to the table. A few months back, I was one of the first ones at the restaurant. The dishes were not clean at all. I came back with another group for another business brunch. This time there was a bug in my drink and two of my colleagues glasses were dirty. One glass had caked on food and the other appeared to have pancake batter splattered on it.
The policy about waiting to be seated until the full party arrives makes no sense. What if someone didn’t make it to the meeting? Would we had been refused service?
Also the stools on the backside of the bar are on a slant and very unsafe. Just a heads up.
Apparently we didn’t receive the message that there was a pajama party theme on New Years Day. Most of the patrons were trashed, left over from Nee Year’s Eve and someone got my car and didn’t leave a note. Bad karma for that person to start the decade. A very disappointing experience overall.
We had a great time Jammin in our Jammies on New Years Day. The food was great, drinks were great. We will definitely be back.
I love this place, and was so happy to be able to eat there on NYE. Sadly, they were out of the wine I wanted, but we chose a nice Rose' which complemented our food. Caroline was kind and supportive, and the experience felt cozy and unpretentious. The Oysters Rockefeller were outstanding, as was all the food. This is a very special place.
The food was okay but the service from the bartender Coco made it worth the drive.
This place was suggested and it did not disappoint. I’m not a big coffee drinker, but their bourbon coffee, “Oh My!” you’ve got to try it. Very accommodating and generous portions, bring your appetite when ordering the pancakes.
Thank you so much Chef Blythe for being the constant host. I love the personal touch you bring. You are amazing. I will be back soon.
Blythe the chef was so kind to me as an out of towner. I felt totally welcome. The bartender was also super genuine. Blythe's husband also kind! I had salmon over spinach & olives & it was truly scrumptious.
Always the best experience I come every sunday!!!!
