Pinewood Kitchen & Mercantile
More than farm-to-table, Pinewood Kitchen is a table on the farm that serves up Southern comfort food made from ingredients free of GMOs, pesticides, and other harmful additives and preservatives. The majority of the
food served in the restaurant has been grown and raised on the land w/ wellness in mind; each dish is prepared to order to accommodate all guests with food allergies and dietary restrictions, as well as vegan, paleo, and keto lifestyles.
You will dine on produce that were picked from the farm the day before. Owner and Chef Mee McCormick describes what flavors to look for and what order to eat the food so it’s good for your gut.

Fantastic food, service and ambiance!
Pinewood Kitchen never disappoints! This restaurant truly cares about the clientele and serving the best and healthiest food! I would give it 10 stars!!
Really healthy, tasty, interesting food in a country setting, but with a modern kitchen. Nice people too.
We have been here MANY times. Yes, it is a bit of a drive outside of Nashville but combine it with a drive in the country and it is a delightful experience. The food is SO FRESH and tasty. Always is. When you combine Farm-To-Table with Mee's focus on food that is good for you, it is a combination that is hard to beat. Definitely recommended!!!!
I always love my Pinewood experience. Brought a friend who just moved to the area. She said she will definitely be coming back. Food was delicious. I am never disappointed.
I love Pinewood- my food sensitivities and intolerances make it hard to go out. They are awesome about working with allergies and have EVERYTHING available gluten free!
This was our second time at Pinewood and we came with friends. It was an outstanding. All our selections were super fresh, well seasoned and delicious. Mee, the owner is fabulous and makes everyone feel right at home. Oh! and the pumpkin cake was on another planet! No doubt, we will be back!!
Pinewood Kitchen & Mercantile is absolutely the best! Mee and the team raise Farm to Table to a whole different level!
It was so wonderful! I wanted to eat everything on the menu! We drove 2 hrs to eat here (1 hr each way) because for health reasons I cannot eat gluten or dairy. I was so excited to be able to get an appetizer, dinner and dessert (and some to take home) that I could eat! It was so wonderful! We are already planning our next trip to try more of the menu!
Outstanding service and all the staff was extremely friendly
I was in heaven! I could eat anything on the menu!
It was a very good lunch and shopping experience. I will return to try out other menu options.
My favorite new to me place to eat! This was our 3rd time to eat here. As always it was great and as someone with a gluten and dairy restricted diet it is nice to go somewhere and not HAVE to order a salad. I got the fish platter and it was yummy and I was so glad to be able to eat fried fish and hushpuppies without getting sick!
our family had a very good waitress very attentive to our needs
It’s worth the trip. Must see and enjoy.
Great as always! If you’re gluten free or have food allergies this is your place! Never disappoints.
We enjoyed ourselves
Outstanding. Will definitely done there again when passing thru the area.
Loved the drive out there from Nashville especially after we got off I 40. This is a clone of Puckett‘s grocery, however it is so much better because everything is healthful, even down to the homemade ketchup which I wanted a gallon to bring home. I had the cat fish and it was super. There was plenty of everything to bring home for another meal. My friend ordered three vegetables and because she doesn’t get good vegetables where she lives she was in ecstasy. The crispy okra was particularly interesting. Every single white person and cook head on a mask. I didn’t expect this because this is a rural county. I appreciated that. They had great gas heaters for the porch and outside but we opted to eat inside at widely separated tables. Good experience and will go back.
I heard about PINEWOOD months ago and was eager to try it. I love road trips and having a worthy destination to hit on the trip. The restaurant and the shop sit right on the main road. We arrived early and went to the shop which has weird women’s clothes and is not a true mercantile shop. Their meats and canned goods took up very little space in the shop and weren’t displayed in an interesting way. The website and the Sunday Tennessean article made the food sound so good. The food was bland overall and not good. The roast had a lot of fat and served on bad mashed potatoes. The fried chicken wasn’t anything like real fried chicken. The squash and green beans had no flavor and were sitting in oil. Another friend got the farm bowl. She took the majority of it home so she could add spices and make it into something better. The strawberry cake was grainy but ok. The fried pie was not good. I was so excited to try Pinewood Kitchen, and maybe because of that, I was doubly disappointed. The service staff was nice but not particularly knowledgeable or great at clearing the table and providing service. There is a lot of room for improvement.
Hush puppies were dry, French toast was cold and my chicken was very veiny. Flies all over my table during meal. The waitresses were very attentive and lovely. I do not feel the price and taste of my meal was worth the money spent.
Amazing food. Beautiful area. Will definitely be back! The Strawberry Cake and Housemade Chips are worth the hour drive from Nashville alone!
We we’re early for our reservation and they let us go ahead and sit after a 10 minute wait. We ordered the homemade chips. We wanted tea but they were out of lemons so I changed to a Diet Coke. We were not fans of the soggy, paper straws. For our meal we got pot roast and fried chicken breast. The portions were huge and we both had enough to take home in 2 to go boxes. The pot roast was fantastic. It only had 2 carrots and no green beans. I thought it was odd that the roast was on top of some mashed potatoes and I also got mashed potatoes on the side. The fried chicken breast and fried okra were good. We did not order dessert. The house made ketchup was not good. Overall it was a good experience and good atmosphere.
Our meal was great! Totally recommend if you have celiac disease, but also is great for everyone else!
Food was good. Service was good. Portions were hearty. Dessert was heavenly. Kitchen was quiet; often when a kitchen is open to the dining area, the kitchen noise drowns out conversations. Bathroom was clean with the best note. We will be back.
Very good quality of food and quantity of food. No one will ever leave there hungry!
Was overwhelmed that I could eat everything on the menu (I am glueton free). It was such a wonderful experience and a relaxing night out on the porch.
Great fresh food and inviting atmosphere. Will be going back!
Great place to go for a day trip lunch from Nashville. Sat outside, service was good, food (farm to table) also very good. Lots of options for those with food allergies. I would go again!
Food was excellent. Gluten-free paradise. The portions were ample and the prices were more city dining and not country causal but WORTH EVERY CENT. We sat on the front porch and joined in on great conversation with the owner and farm employees. Great first stop our anniversary weekend.
Very good experience! Drove an hour to get there, and it didn't disappoint. The farm to table food was deliciously prepared, and gut healthy. We will return!!
Great farm to table food. Worth the drive to Nunnely
Had a great time out with my friends; we all ordered different things and all was excellent.
Disappointed... took the 45 minute drive and expected much more from all the press.... Picnic Tables are located in front parking lot with bad old red check oilcloths ....sat on porch....ordered the Fried Chicken and was excited that it was gluten free.....disappointed... I had just made some myself the weekend before and it was much better.....Service was slow as others have stated..... thought we had found a jewel.... but will not go back...
Very disappointed in our first visit to the restaurant. It was way overpriced!
Due to fame on TV they ran out of food but yet didn’t cancel their online reservations. We drove hour and left with a $91.00 bill and all we had was 2 bbq sandwiches, fries, chips, salad, cake, pie and one beer.
I was charged for a meal we didn’t receive. Not enough help, waited in a long line that wasn’t socially distanced to check out I’m the middle of people trying to get a table. Need some organization. The food was good!
Tammy, We are terribly sorry for this! Pinewood has never been so busy, which is a wonderful blessing, but we hate that this affected you negatively. We'd love to offer you a gift certificate to return to Pinewood! Please email us at email@example.com m, and we can send you the gift certificate. Best wishes, Pinewood Team
This place is a true gem! Excellent lunch and I look forward to using the ground beef purchased from the mercantile.
Food was good and people were friendly. It was comforting to know that they take in consideration food allergies as I have gluten sensitivity and it isn't easy to eat just any where.
Cool spot. Good people. Cody took good care of us & we’ll be back next time we ride out that way!
