Great happy hour! Still had room for entrees. Everything was Delicious!
Pinefish came recommended by our hotel and was the perfect choice before seeing Hamilton. The service was excellent and our server could not have been more attentive and friendly. We shared an appetizer of oysters and the large plate Seafood Bucatini and both were wonderful. Of course, dinner would not have been complete without desert and the Key Lime Pie was to die for. Pinefish proved an excellent choice for a wonderful night out!
We were there for Brunch. It was excellent. We actually looked at the dinner menu and we will be back there next time we are in Phili.
Had a good brunch here but dinner was different. Went for dinner tonight. The portion sizes are small even for a seafood place. The waitress was nice but the food didn't come out all at once so it was awkward for us. The Fish said "vegetable medley" as a side and it was a handful of tomatoes and capers. The lobster fixed price was ok but you maybe got 3 ounces.
The cost was expensive for what it was.
Underwhelming and overpriced. Lobster bisque tasted like butternut squash soup with lobster in it.
The reastaurant was a few blocks from the Forrest Theatre where Hamilton is playing, so it was convenient to that. The decor is decidedly "bohemian" , comfortable, but was well worn and casual in a pleasant way. If you are looking for an upscale dining experience this is not for you. The Happy Hour is a great value. Lots of great dishes with nice quantities. The regular menu featured mostly well prepared and creative seafood dishes. Everything was reasonably priced. Our waitress was pleasant and properly attentive. I'm visiting from Austin, but if I lived in downtown Philly, it would be a great "go-to" restaurant and I would be a frequent diner there.
Great little restaurant! We had theater tickets and were held up in traffic. The waitress was very helpful and our food arrived quickly. It's a quirky and bohemian atmosphere. Their prices were good for center city Philadelphia, i.e. oysters on the half shell for $1 each and drinks for $5! We'll definitely go back.
we arrived for our 6:30 reservations and the server never came to take any order so when we asked the manager who our server was she looked at the young lady that was in our section and she would not serve us. so the manager became our server. VERY DISRESPECTFUL.
When I say this place is a hole in the wall I mean a s**t hole!! Service is crap it was so loud you couldn’t hear a word. Food was sub par. Not explained clearly at all neither menu or when ordering. Took them an hr just to get some water.. never again!!!!!!!!! Plus the waitress sat there arguing with me with an attitude bc the kid dropped his burger and they didnt want to replace it. They wanted to charge me and when I asked her to put it to go bc I was tired she started saying well it takes time to cook .. I said ok and she kept arguing like why???? Its not meant for every crowd more of a new age hipster type. Decor looks like everything was picked out of curbside trash.. tables were crap chairs were crap. I have never left such a harsh review but this place was that bad.
Love the vibe of this place. Only two negatives:
1- Even though we were there at Happy Hour, our waitress did not inform us when we asked for a glass of pino grigio, that the wine was NOT part of the $5 happy hour specials, even though we were looking at that menu when we ordered. We never would have ordered two glasses each had we known the cost!
2-food is made to order and great, but every member of our group got this small plate at a different time-there must have been at least 15 minutes since the first plate was served and the last!
Everything about this little gem is outstanding. Our waitress, Sophia, was so sweet & extremely attentive. She definitely made us feel welcome. I loved the tasteful & cozy decor & the overall ambience. The food was so well seasoned and tasty. I would highly recommend Pinefish & will be back.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I went during Restaurant Week. The food was amazing. The owners were very nice. I will definitely be going back. The staff was a little rude in the beginning.
We dined at Pinefish during restaurant week. The restaurant is decorated in unmatched pieces and unique chandeliers and lights. The food was really good. We are planning on going back to try out their entrees on their every day menu. The drinks were delicious too
Our “girls’ night out” at Pinefish was divine. We loved the ambiance, eclectic, comfortable and classy. Restaurant week menu left nothing to be desired. Surf and turf was delicious and cooked perfectly to order. Crab cakes with shrimp and scallop mousse was amazing. Even the drinks were the perfect compliments. We all agreed, we would visit again!
Tried this place for center City restaurant week and it was delicious!
Philly Dining evening. Solid tastes and great prices
I would recommend the food, but the service was awful! Even though it is restaurant week I know it might be a bit more busy than a regular day, it doesn’t give the server the right to not be attentive. In fact it wasn’t as busy when we first got there. Our food was missing things even tho it clearly states on their website menu that it comes with the dish when we asked the server she seemed to be very annoyed or irritated by us, we asked for bread it took her 10min to come back with it. The service just terrible, I have wanted to try this restaurant for months now and thought this would be a good opportunity, we just didn’t feel like we were welcomed!
The food was delicious but the service suck......#Period
The food was very disappointing, the crab cakes tasted like mush and the side of Brussel sprouts I ordered was extremely bitter. There was also a huge ceiling leak a few feet from our table. The restaurant just put a bucket there to catch the water but didn’t say anything to us or the other guests.
I really enjoyed my visit to Pinefish. I went during Restaurant Week for dinner. I found the menu options to be good and the food was really delicious. I would definitely try them out again.
I don’t like the fact that they didn’t have tables to accommodate a large party. We sat on a couch, pillows, and our table was a huge chest. When we asked for water we were handed the stack of glasses and they sat the pitcher of water on the table. We really wanted to leave but we didn’t want to be rude. The food was not bad. We enjoyed that. The server was very nice and helpful.
This was my 2nd time here. The first time could not have been more pleasant. This time was a disaster. It's restaurant week, so I called ahead to see if the main menu would be available as opposed to fish with corn which was basically every entree for restaurant week. I was told yes the regular menu would be available. When we arrive, the hostess asked if we are there for restaurant week, we said no. She said ok, I'll give you both menus. We sit down, I repeatedly am poked in the back by a broken chair. Our waitress shows up and helps me exchange it. (It should have been taken off the floor). We never got water, she asks what we want to drink, however we never got a drink menu. She goes to find one, and returns saying no more are available, she'll have to steal one from somewhere else. Ok, so we decide from the regular menu what we want. As we begin ordering she states that most of the menu is not available, it's just restaurant week items. Then she says let me check to see what's available. At this point we leave. Why give us the other menu, why tell me over the phone that it's available? Also, all servers should be told what's available from the menu at the beginning of the shift. That's just basics. I would hope that this was an abnormality, but this visit was horrible.
It was nice, but nothing too special. I went more for the ambiance but even that just seemed a little regular.
Went here for happy hour on a Saturday night. All the times we ordered was sooo good!! We will definitely be back!
Good restaurant. Excellent surf and turf. I’m returning customer. I experiened the Restaurant week there, which was good!
It was my first time here and i loved everything about the restaurant and the food was excellent!!
It wasn't bad but nothing special. I can cook better seafood at home.
The food was delicious and the servers were attentive and accommodating. Portions were perfect.
I fell in the bathroom when I came out and told the bartender she oh okay thank you. Nobody came over to ask if I was okay. I was fine but my pants were soaked and I could have been a different kind of person and caused a scene. I had clams on the half shell and they didn’t take them off the shell. My filet had fat running through it and the lobster was over cooked. Would have went back if the would have reacted differently to my fall. The food issues could have been because they were so busy. 😕
Food , service and ambiance were excellent only draw back was as good as the food was the portions were VERY small!
We came here for the oysters and they were phenomenal
Where do I start? I waited 20 minutes before requesting someone to wait on me. Note: the restaurant was not crowded. The waiter comes and tells me it’s either the restaurant week menu or happy hour, which was not explained when I was seated. Needless to say I left. Now let’s get to the decor. The restaurant looks thrown together. I equate it to a hole in the wall restaurant. I can’t believe the high ratings for this place.
Amazing experience. Food was cooked to perfection. No kidding. Uber friendly and efficient staff. It’s now one of our small number of go-to places for dining out in the city.
very good good went for restaurant week, portions were a little smaller than expected.
Great pick for restaurant week but we would go back on a normal day too. Cozy and laid back. Blueberry pie was excellent!!
This was my first time at this restaurant. I went with my family to celebrate my sister's birthday and it was excellent. I would definitely come back again.
Host was pretty rude, while experience was underwhelming . Won’t return
Excellent food. We did restaurant week and some happy hour appetizers. The food was fantastic and our server was very kind and down to earth. Very very fresh seafood and interesting flavor profiles. Overall 8/10
