The food is less then average and really expensive for the quality
I’ve dined in here three times during COVID. My first 2 experiences were great! Loved the food! But my experience last week was not great, which was unfortunate because we were celebrating a birthday. Their drinks are never great here, so I can’t say they were any worse or better. It would be helpful if they had a cocktail list of what they can do well. I ordered the crab cake (which was very good) and also the Branzino. The waitress offered for the chef to filet the fish for me, as it was usually served whole. However, the chef was not skilled at filleting because there were a lot of little bones. I will say, the taste was great! My friend got the seared tuna, which she said was tough but tasty, and the clams and buccatini. Her clam dish had 3 clams and the rest was canned clams. She had to send it back because the canned clams were chewy and not tasty. The waitress was accommodating for this and brought her something new. Overall, I was disappointed. However, since I normally really like this place, I will go back.
Great food!
Such a great experience and fantastic move. Please support this awesome restaurant!!
The oysters were not fresh. Also, toward the end of my meal the restaurant turned the lights off while my friend and I were still eating it was extremely rude we basically felt kicked out. The server barely checked on our table until the lights were out and it was time to collect the money.
Quality food done right. You're paying a premium, but enough quality ingredients are included to make it an enjoyable meal. I just wish I had asked if they had female lobster to use versus male lobster.
Service and ambience were great. This is one of my go-to spots. I love the menu and the vibe! Great happy hour too.
Always great food here. Never disappoints!
The food was delicious.
Delicious food for very reasonable prices! There was a slight wait even though we had a reservation, but the staff explained that they had someone call out and they apologized several times. It was a little frustrating but as soon as we were seated, our service was very quick and the food made up for it! They are making the best of the current situation, I definitely plan to go again.
The appetizers were not the best soup and mussels. The soup was a lobster bisque while the lobster was delicious the broth was more of an Indian flare and the mussels some of them were no good. However the main course meals were lovely. I ordered the salmon with spinach and the cream sauce that was paired with was delicious. I ate the whole fish! They service was great once we ordered our food. She even asked if we had to be somewhere so there was a rush for the food order. Since we couldn’t stay for dessert, she gave us a slice of cake since it was birthday which was very thoughtful.
It was my first time there and I really enjoyed it. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was layed back and chilled just like I like.
Exceptional 🙌🏾
Dingy and dirty, food was not good and service wasn’t great. If you’re looking for a good brunch spot, this isn’t it.
Had a great time on our first visit to Pinefish. Leslie was fantastic. We look forward to going again in the future.
Great place! Had the steamed clams as an app and OMG the broth they came in was amazing! Arugula salad was good, but a little heavy on the dressing and some of the bacon was pretty fatty - simple fixes. Garlic shrimp and truffle mashed potatoes were also fantastic! Oh and the Over the Rainbow drink was freakin tasty!!
We were seated outside on a cold October night because the restaurant was not seating customers indoors. We had two heating lamps next to our table that was turned off. The waitress asked the manager several times to turn on the heating lamp in which he finally responded 20 minutes after we first asked. The restaurant was not crowded and there was open tables so I looked inside the restaurant several times and observed the manager sitting at a table talking. Finally the manager turned on the heating lamp in which it burned out 10 minutes later. Once again we requested the manager turn on the other heating lamp as it’s freezing and my 9 year old is complaining about not being able to feel his nose. The manager never responded and the lamps were never turned on. The waitress was great but the management needs work I didn’t appreciate being left in the cold while others had heating lamps. What makes it worst is we had two heating lamps by our table siting turned off. If the lamps were broken they could have told us but they chose to ignore us and let us freeze with a child. This place is horrible.
Since Covid, it's more difficult to rate a restaurant properly. Since we were sitting outside, ambience and noise level is relative. The restaurant provided heaters which made it much more comfortable on a cool night. The restaurant was very accommodating with a spin on my happy hour drink and our server was extremely nice and responsive. My only issue was that we ordered mussels that they obviously forgot about. When we finally got them 30-40 minutes after ordering them, only half had opened so we sent those back. The server asked if we wanted more to replace them and we said no as it was so late. Then our server came back with the same mussels that didn't open after putting them back on the fire to open which probably wasn't her decision to do. We refused them, they took them off of our bill and we paid and left. We of course tipped our sever on the full amount of the bill before reductions as she was great.
I have been to Pinefish a few times and have never had any issues so I just chalk this up to an off night and I would recommend it to others.
Outdoor seating was good. Manager added an outdoor heater at our request. Buck a suck oysters were tasty but beer selection was limited. Would definitely go back post COVID
We tried this place with friends from out of town, and it was a poor representation of the city. There was hair in the food, the service was slow, the silverware was dirty and when I went in to use the restroom inside, it looked cluttered and dingy. I unfortunately would not recommend.
Our dinner for all 4 of us was outstanding on Sunday. Pinefish was still offering the restaurant week special (3 course/$35), which we all chose. Everything was delicious, from the $1 oysters , clam chowder soups, crab cakes, salads and my rib entree.
Pinefish offers a Sunday happy hour to make the total experience that much more attractive. $6 House wines and martinis. The only small negative was the tables were somewhat small and a little unsteady but not where it distracted from the meal.
Nice job.
Amazing food and drinks. Definitely will be my go-to spot for great Philly dining. Fun vibe too!
Went here for my birthday and the food and service was AMAZING (thank you Emily!). I got one crab cake for appetizer, the whole fish branzino with truffle mash pots for dinner, and then key lime pie for dessert! I will definitely be coming back!
Will go again,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Table wasn't ready-offered inside but we were not interested. Set up a new table for us eventually. Ordered one dozen clams and one dozen oysters. Took forever to come out and whoever opened them did not know how to do it. The shells were broken and they were still attached to the shells. My husband had the Restaurant week menu and was very pleased. I ordered black cod which was sold out so i got whole bronzinlo which was overcooked and bony.
Took them 30 minutes to figure out the bill cause we used a gift card.
Not rushing to go back there!!! We used to love it.
My husband, our friends and I were looking forward to a night out and some great seafood. We were very disappointed not just in the service but the food and quality of the food as well. Our entrees came out before our appetizers and our drinks. The drinks were not as described in the menu at all and when asked they said this is how they make it now. We sat outside and asked multiple times to have the heaters turned as it was a bit chilly that evening but our multiple requests went ignored and unanswered. We specifically went there for the seafood and the $1 oysters that were advertised in the menu and on their website. We were told they are no longer $1 and are $2 each which did not deter us from ordering them. When we received the bill we noticed that the first 30 we ordered were charged $2 and the rest we ordered later were $1 not sure if they thought they were doing us a favor but it was misleading for sure. I asked what kind of soup they had and was told cold gazpacho was the only option but my friends meal came with clam chowder but it wasn’t an option to order separately? That was odd. We ordered the duck fat fries which were not just COLD but also tasteless. The Brussels sprouts were quite tasty but SUPER greasy. There was a pool of oil on the plate underneath. Also our entrees came out even before our appetizers did and the remaining half of the oyster we ordered were served after we were done our entrees. Just very weird service and disappointing food. Needless to say we will not be returning here. We understand things are different due to the pandemic but quality food and service should always be a top priority regardless of changes in menu and pricing which is totally understandable.
We were early for our reservation, but was able to be seated right away. It was a romantic private table. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We even talked briefly to the owner. I highly recommend Pinefish.
Staff is somewhat friendly, but extremely understaffed. Actually, extremely understaffed is an understatement. At multiple times throughout the experience, I wanted to jump in to help out. I would not recommend unless you have 4 hours of your time to devote to this place.
Highly recommend. Excellent service ambiance and excellent food
Excellent fish - extended restaurant week menu was great deal
Food presentation should be improved. Doesn’t look appealing.
Ordered all you can eat pancakes. When I tried to order my second round I was told that this was not an option due to covid. However I was still charged for the all you can eat price for what amounted to a side order of pancakes. The food was delicious, but the service was awful.
Portions were small and food is usually more tasty. Very nice selection.
Friday night street dining is noisy. Food was very good and interesting. Disappointed with the pour of ordinary white wine for the cost. Since there was no drink menu, I felt ambushed. My friend was happy with his martini.
So thankful for small neighborhood businesses (like Pinefish) that continue service through the current pandemic
Thank you to the business owners and front line service staff for all their efforts and dedication
The service and quality of food at Pinefish continues to be superb and although the ambiance has been compromised by the current situation this establishment has certainly done its best to accommodate their customers.
I always visit during Restautant Week and the food has been Nothing but good.
We went for Restaurant Week. It looks like all dining is outdoors currently, which was fine because the weather was nice. We probably would come back again.
The food was delicious and excellent options during Restaurant Week. However, we did also come to enjoy Oysters but they weren't offering any other menu items other then the Pre-Fix. That was a bit disappointing. Otherwise, service and food was great!
Very delicious! I had the jumbo lump crab cakes, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I also enjoyed the tequila sunrise cocktail. I will definitely return again!
Wonderful server! So glad we decided to come here for restaurant week. Although our meal was a tad cold, I got the surf and turf! I’d come again, but probably try something else!
