Pineapple Eddie Southern Bistro
This has always been a go to place for out of town guests for work, I would rave about how great the food is and the waiters would always say the motto is "The chef does not want you to leave hungry" well there seems to be a miscommunication there. The last two times the appetizers have been enough for one person to have two pieces, the meal has been a giant plate with hardly a serving, and dessert used to be a giant slice of cake, and now has been made to a child's portion. Smaller sizes are fine, however when you are spending 10 on an appetizer, 20 on an entrée and 10 on dessert, you expect to "leave the restaurant full"
We have lived in New Orleans and were very excited to give Pineapple Eddie’s a try. Wonderful food, spiced with a lighter hand to allow you to taste every note, done to perfection with excellent, knowledgeable, friendly wait staff. Need we say more? We will definitely refer friends and return often.
We have always loved Pineapple Eddies and it was actually my bday . There were several large groups there for a young girl singing that evening that apparently had ordered dinner prior to our small party . We waited 1 1/2 half hours for our dinner and watched another couple actually leave because their food never came out in a timely manner . When my chicken was served it was burnt and greasy which isn’t typical of this restaurant so I was disappointed. When I said something to our server he apologized but never sent a manager over at anytime and we didn’t receive any apologies for waiting so long for dinner . It was disappointing. Although we had this experience I do believe this is a good restaurant that : 1) is short staffed 2) needs to retrain staff on customer service 3) management needs to be involved with customers to ensure that everyone is happy and food is being served! Their food is good but they need someone to manage their floor
Wonderful dining experience! Food was excellent and service was terrific!!
We we're seated quickly, waitress very slow and uninterested. Coffee never refilled. Food ordinary for high prices. Won't return.
Overall a good meal, not great but good. The appetizers were better than the mains, the hush puppies were great as were the pineapple wings. The catfish was middle of the road and my chicken was over cooked and dry. I had a lemon coconut cake that was dried out, possibly a couple of days old.
I think overall they have too many items on the menu and my advice would be to cut the menu in half and have 2 or 3 desserts. The makings of a truly great restaurant are all here.
The restaurant itself needs freshening up, not sure why the walls are painted a dark shade. I loved some of the bright paintings on the wall and I wish they had picked up those colours to make a fresh, bright dining room.
Our server was very friendly but he never offered another drink or coffee.
Second time there and I look forward to returning!! Amazing food and service! A++
I can't say enough good things. Service was excellent, food was great. The daily specials, added to their regular menu, made decisions difficult. Nice drink menu with reasonable prices...lots of "wine by the glass" choices.
The bouillabaisse special was as good as it gets and the calamari appetizer was perfectly done.
We are from Pittsburgh and it was my birthday so we wanted to try something different. The atmosphere was nice but our waitress wasn't as attentive as I thought she should be. I asked her for more salad dressing and she only brought my husband salad dressing and I asked for butter for my waffles and butter for my husbands potatoes. She only brought a small amount to my husband, none for me. My drink was too strong and the desserts looked old and dry. My chicken tasted like it was fried in old grease.
Great food very professional servers . We will go back soon.
The specials are always the best part! The drinks and appetizers were fantastic, and the dessert case is beautiful. They accommodated us adding an extra person to our party. The staff is friendly, the food takes a little longer to prepare but it definitely worth the wait!
This restaurant is a strange mix of budget and fine dining. They put out white tablecloths but then serve your condiments in disposable plastic cups you'd find at a fast food restaurant. They serve you a nice house salad but the tomatoes on the salad are sliced as if they were meant for a burger.
We had another enjoyable meal at Pineapple Eddie’s! The service was great, drinks were tasty and the whole meal was incredible and delicious. Never disappoints!
Always an enjoyable meal
We sat downstairs and had a wonderful experience, the food was great as the service too.
Great service and excellent food
Great atmosphere, great service, wait staff very knowledgeable, the food was ok, overpriced for a stuffed pork chop that didn't have any stuffing...very dry and tough. The cocktails were also very good. Would recommend for a romantic evening but don't go off of the menu.
Wonderful food and service. Just a little chilly by the window
The food was excellent, we liked the table spacing. The service was good and the staff was professional.
Every employee I interacted with was great, from the host to the bartender to the chef. I enjoyed the griyo with rice and beans, seasonal veggies and an additional side of Mac n cheese. I also got the hush puppies which were perfect and the chocolate cake with banana frosting.
We had a great experience. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was inviting. We will definitely come back.
Our dinners were fantastic! So tasty! Great service and our food came quickly!
Really great service. Our food was excellent and there was a jazz duo playing in our room, which added to the ambiance.
Food is always great but service was really really slow. Maybe just understaffed for the night but 15 minutes to even recognize us at our table, another 15 to get our drinks once ordered. Flavors in the food were very nice and I love all the special options.
Unfortunately I am unable to review this dining experience due to the fact that Pineapple Eddie's was closed when I arrived in spite of my confirmed reservation via Opentable!
Absolutely my favorite restaurant. When it's my turn to choose it's always Shrimp and Grits at Pineapple Eddie's. One of the best things to happen to Erie.
Great food, great people.
Great restaurant, run by great people. Friendly, makes you feel "at home". We have dined there several times, each time the "evening Special" Fish dish was always outstanding
The night we were there the Musical combo, Mambo, was playing - their sound was amazing and the volume not too much. Service was great - we were in the cozy barroom - we will return.
Pineapple Eddies NEVER disappoints. I've been numerous times and will be going back again and again. The owners are on hand and very friendly, the staff is helpful and friendly, the atmosphere is cozy and the food is delicious.
It is a gem of a place and I am afraid that once the secret gets out about how good they are, I might not be able to get a table.
Never lets you down... amazing food, cannot say eough about the place :)
Great chicken and waffle sandwich. The steak po boy was also very good .
Have enjoyed dining at Pineapple Eddies many times & have not been disappointed. I made reservations on-line on our recent visit. When we arrived, they had no record of our reservation. They were accommodating even though the restaurant was very busy. Will return when in Erie, but will call!! Good food, good service & good people!!
Wife and I really enjoyed our diners . She said hers was the best thing she ever ate .
Great food always. Thanks JP
First time To pineapple eddies. We loved it. Great atmosphere. Excellent food and service.
Everything we had from soup through dessert was delicious. All staff we encountered were courteous, friendly and efficient.
Awesome dinner! empenada's were delicious! Our server "O" was fabulous!!!
You can tell he loves his job!
Amazing food, wonderful choices. Flavor! We love this place.
I know the food here is very good...my food experience on this date was simply what I ordered. My wings were flabby and not crispy...one of my sides I ordered plantains which I've never had. I always thought they weren't sweet. These were literally as sweet as bananas in a dish with a ton of grease in bottom and pieces of garlic. Yuck. The garlic mashed were good however could have benefited with a pat of butter in the middle. They were dry. Dessert was delicious and my Bloody Mary was yummy. Our server was Courtney and she's awesome.
