Great place! Food was delicious. Service was good.
Pikk’s is a great spot. If you’re familiar with service at Giovanni’s and Vinci, you’ll love Pikk’s. My steak was excellent!
Great food and a great place to meet up with friends.
Always great food! Second time going here and it is always great food and service
The food was excellent; steaks were cooked perfectly and appetizers were delicious. Great cocktail menu. They seemed short-staffed; our server was also the bartender and he almost seemed annoyed that we were there. We didn’t feel particularly welcome, and the questions our guests asked about the menu were answered in a dismissive way. I would give it another try, but being hospitable goes a long way.
Great experience. Only wish would to enjoy a little bit more time between appetizers and entrees to finish our drinks and relax a little with friends.
Extremely disappointed, service was terrible!
Service kids meal after everyone else! 2 hours for salads!
The pasta dish I ordered with shrimp in spicy taco oil was so oily that my pasta was drowned in it. To much oil on the bottom of my dish. Could not finish eating It. Italian music was frowned out by Kitchen noise with Spanish speaker. The room was too cold at times. Parking was awful. Had to walk two blocks.
We have been to Pikks many times and this time it was a warm day outside and they sat us in the front window area. It was so warm it was uncomfortable. Three out of four of us that were dining were visibly sweating. Not a pleasant way to eat dinner.
The location and decor are great, but that were the best things of our experience at Pikk's Tavern. The service was slow and mismanaged. For the four people at our table, appetizers and main dishes came out at the same time for two of us, the others came in spurts - it was clear that either the cooks or wait staff was confused. Some of the food was good, but the gumbo tasted like tomato soup and the Pad Thai was like a soupy stir fry (even the waiter said that he didn't know why the restaurant offered it on the menu). It was difficult getting our waiters attention to address any of the issues. Won't ever go back... which is a shame.
Bread was served at every table right after seating except ours. Food is overpriced, zero presentation to it and I’d rather eat Applebee’s.
Celebrate College graduation
We've been going to Pikk's off and on since they opened and have had some very different experiences. Some very good. Some not so much. I would have to agree with many of the other reviews that the service was the biggest problem. Unorganized and uninterested. Tried again last night and enjoyed some of the better service I've had anywhere. The food quality was good. The service made us want to go back
Reservations available on time.
Loved the bread, tasty with a very crispy crust
The brunch was a great surprise, the entree’s of salmon was outstanding and the buffet was great. We would do this again.
We’ve made it a tradition to do Mother’s Day brunch at Pikk’s the last three years, and it was a lovely meal as usual. Fare was sound if unspectacular (the nature of the beast with a prix fixe partial buffet format), and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Continues to be one of our favorite haunts in NWI.
We went for Mothers Day brunch and was nice experience. Will return to try other items on the menu.
The bartender makes especially delicious mixed drinks, recommended!
Food was good, service was good.... a little on the pricy side with a very small menu. Looked more like Chicago prices. Not sure if we would go back.
Service was absolutely awful!!!! I have never been so appalled by the service we received. We were celebrating our anniversary. Waitress never brought out food we were served by someone else. Food was alright.
This is our second experience. This dining experience reinforced my conclusion...too expensive (not Chicago), too little food for the price(potato and small filet for $30?), and no one other than our party of 4 (stuck us in the corner with the smell of cleaning fluid and rags). Never again!
Went here for a family dinner thinking it was a nice quiet place to enjoy time with the family, it was not. The bar (which runs the entire length of the restaurant) was loud and disorderly including the bartenders. The waitress was sitting down at a table eating while our apps were brought out cold by a cook who apologized, drinks were not refilled unless asked, food portions were very small, and order came messed up due to a menu misprint. I wouldn’t go back. There are so many other nice restaurants in valpo, this one is more of a bar with high priced food.
Ran out of lamb at 1:15 pm, which the waitress knew nothing about. You also ran out of iced tea for refills. The waitress made no effort to offer another choice for a refill. She would have expected us to pay full price for one glass of tea. We asked for an adjustment, which the manager on duty granted.
Love Pikk’s BBQ sauce, but wasn’t crazy about my rack of ribs. Didn’t fall off the bone, and a bit too much fat. Potatoes needed a little more flavor. Fries were kind of soggy. Place has potential, I just didn’t have an outstanding experience. Other items might be awesome. Will definitely try again.
Our dinner was superb, as always. My boyfriend and I both had the special - grilled shrimp and scallops over a generous bed of sautéed asparagus. The seafood and asparagus were cooked to perfection. Our server was attentive but not intrusive.
We decided to break from tradition, and for dessert we ordered a scotch egg from the appetizer menu. We'd had it there once before. It was a scrumptious end to our meal!
My wife and I had a reservation for dinner on 3/30/19. The service was good and the meal was good as well; no complaints. I’ve read other reviews regarding high noise level. I did not experience a high noise level. We were there between 5:00-6:30.
Ambiance was a little noisy. For appetizers, Oysters Rockefeller was the worse of I have ever had and wedge salad was made with Ranch instead of blew cheese. Steaks were great but they ran out of many of them pretty early so limited in choice. Probably would go back for the steaks. Also, don’t sit downstairs. It had a funky odor.
Very noisy, but it was Saturday night. Food was good. Service, not so much. Waited quite a bit to be offered refills, then waited quite a bit for refills, asked for more bread, never got it until I saw the individual with basket at another table and asked for more. Waitress was friendly, but not great. Food was good, but pricey. I would try it again, but perhaps go earlier in the day or a weeknight.
We’ve dined here many times andchad a good experience but last weekend We arrived at 6pm and they were out of several steaks and only had 1 dessert left on a Saturday night. Limited wait staff so the wait to get served was long and the poor staff seemed stress. The steak that I ordered medium was well done.
Over the years my wife and I have eaten at Pikks many times and I must say the quality of the food and service has been all over the place sometime excellent sometimes horrible this time was on the horrible end of the spectrum. Let's start with the meal, my ny strip was rare when it was ordered a hair past medium and was tough. Baked potato was like warm. Service was mediocre at best long wait for attention from server. We will not be going back anytime soon as the bad experiences outlay the good.
Food was good but way over priced
I wanted to use a Visa gift card but the server said it was declined. Went out for a couple of drinks at a different establishment and the card worked fine there.
Excellent anniversary dinner for my wife and I. The food was excellent! We love Pikk's for special occasions or just looking for a great meal!
The food and drinks were great. Started with calamari which was good and then the Mrs has the Filet which she loved and I had the Aruba steak special that was insanely good. The only knock was there was a longer than average wait in between service.
Excellent food and service
Food overall was good ! Service was as expected ...appetizer was delicious ! Steaks were decent but were charred and the other steak was rare
I rated all categories but value with 3 stars because everything about our experience, the food the service, was average. The one aspect that wasn't was the price, for how much it cost one would expect much better.
Had a very enjoyable business dinner Monday night for 5 people. They were able to accommodate a variety of dietary restrictions, including vegan. Serving sizes were very generous. Feedback from the group was overwhelming positive on the quality of the meals. Service was attentive and friendly. Would be happy to come back for another meal.
Food was good and wasn’t horribly busy. Good restaurant for a relaxing date night
Excellent service; excellent food. It didn't take very long to get food and the atmosphere is great! Definitely an awesome place to go!
