Pietro's Italian - South
My brothers and cousins in New York know the recipe. Diners at Patsy's, Nick's and Angelo's have enjoyed their pizzas, pastas and salads for years. Here in Philadelphia and New Jersey, you can feast on my Uncle Angelo's secret recipe dishes at our three Pietro's locations: 1714 Walnut Street, 121 South Street in Philadelphia and 140 W. Route 70 in New Jersey.
I hope that you enjoy our classic style pizzas and pasta specialties "alla familia" for many years to come. Buon appetito
Pietro’s is wonderful for families & has delicious food & excellent service.
Food was fantastic, hostess, manager, and waitress were all friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back when we’re in town.
Excellent greeting, food, and service! Could not have asked for a better experience especially as a last minute Easter meal!
Food and service was excellent. Made our reservations right online and as soon as we got there we were seated.
Great service and food, food came really quickly. Highly recommend.
We had a reservation for 13 people (6 adults 7 pre-teen boys). The restaurant was pretty empty. Shorty after we sat down, the manager came over and told us we needed to keep the noise level down, as other customers were complaining. First of all, there was plenty of seating in the restaurant away from us if people didn’t want to be seated near a large party. Second of all, don’t take a reservation for 13 people if you don’t want it to be noisy. A table of 13 people is going to generate some level of noise. I was really appalled at the way the manager treated us. I frequent the St. David’s location where the noise level is always high and the staff is always professional and friendly. I will not return to the South Street location.
We ordered a customized pizza, and some mozzarella cheese sticks. The marinara sauce was delicious, just a hint of sweetness with rich tomato and garlic flavor. The pizza was coal fired and was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. The service was excellent and timely. Could not have asked for a better experience.
We had a wonderful meal and service was great
Need friendlier faces working there. The Food was ok.
Great atmosphere and the noise level was exceptionally low whereby we could talk and hear each other at a table for eight. Food was very good, pizza was awesome, and service was excellent!
although I live nearby this was my first visit. now i'm wondering what took me so long. food was excellent and service was supreme. looking forward to my next visit
Had family in town and had a wonderful lunch here.
They seated our group promptly, which was much appreciated. However, it took a long time to get our drinks, and it was almost 45 minutes before our pizzas arrived. We had salads and pizza so it’s hard to comment on any other aspect of the menu, but both items were good.
Our server Sergio was the absolute best server in the game. Go Sergio!
Food was delicious; our waiter was outstanding! Only suggestion would be better lighting in the alcove near the door.
Excellent food. We had 10 people and were looking for a casual Italian/pizza place. This exceeded our expectations. Cauliflower pizza was excellent!!!
We had a family sitting next to us that had their 3 children playing tag, running around the tables, sliding on the floor which was very annoying. The parents didn't even tell them to stop! The food was just ok, but my Kale & apple salad was excellent. I told hostess that we were celebrating my daughter's birthday and would like to sing to her. She said she would tell our server ... I guess there was a miscommunication. No one sang to her, no candle. This restaurant was a recommendation from a friend and it definitely was not what I was expecting! One positive is I was able to use those kids as an example for my 4 children of how not to act in a restaurant.
Dinner was delicious. Wait staff was very attentive. Can't wait to go back!
Extremely consistent. Our server kayda is always warm and fast. Best service ever!!! A neighborhood family gem for us. Love the cauliflower pizza, risotto balls, salmon, rigatoni alla vodka and sautéed chicken. The list goes in. Sauce in their pizza is very flavorful!
My fiancé and I dined at Pietro's after seeing the 6PM fireworks on Penns Landing. The kitchen backed up resulting in our order being delayed significantly beyond the amount of time it should have taken. The food was worth the wait; the Sicilian salad had a nice briny flavor and the pizza had phenomenal flavor (especially the crust). Despite the overwhelmed kitchen, the service compelled me to write this review.
Our waiter, Sergio, was extremely considerate and professional as he kept us informed about the state of the order as well as having a manager come over to provide us complimentary drinks. Throughout the evening, Sergio was very engaging and personable; he was easily one of the most impressive waiters my fiancé and I have encountered. The fact that this review is overwhelmingly positive despite waiting an exorbitant amount of time for a dish that takes less than three minutes to prepare and cook is a testament to Sergio's commitment to keeping customers satisfied and leaving the establishment with positive recollections.
We were disappointed with this restaurant this time. We go for their caesar salad and pizza a few times a year but this time the food and service weren't that good. They must have changed their caesar dressing as it was bland and not enough on the salad. Also, the waitress was not too good. She never asked us if we wanted a refill on our drinks and brought the salad at the same time as the pizza. The pizza was good but other than that, I'm not sure if I will go out of my way to go there again.
I booked the reservation through Open Table, but when our party of 7 showed up they had no record of our reservation. I even showed the confirmation. They were able to accommodate us thank goodness. The bartender that evening was very nice and attentive while we waited for our table. The restaurant itself could use updating. old tables, chairs, bathrooms. The ledges next to the tables were dusty. Not at all like the Pietro's on Walnut. Our server was very nice, but forgot drink items that we ordered. He seemed very distracted/busy. We would probably not make a return trip.
The staff is warm and welcoming. The waiter was superb! The service is fast, and very attentive. Party of 4 foodies. We order salads, which are fresh and huge, and 2 different medium pizzas, all delicious. The only suggestion I could make is to find a way to get a crispy crust on the pizza. I was dreaming of a slice of thin crust that will snap, this one is not the crispy type, but the taste was trully delicious. Tip, watch the parking meter, we forgot to post it on the dashboard, got a ticket, BUT the meal and the service was so enjoyable, we didn’t care :)
Army vs Navy victory dinner!
best personal service that made you feel right at home and the food was great!
Not what it used to be.
The Pizza was excellent! The service was great, a wonderful find on Marathon night!!
I've been here three times now over the course of a few years and every time I have not enjoyed my entree. Each time I went it was because someone else wanted to go there and I was in from out of town and forgot how unimpressed I was with their entrees. Most things are not god awful. I would say edible, but nothing special. The appetizers are pretty good and the bread is good, but do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for your entree. I feel bad saying this because I've never had an unpleasant experience. They are always nice and pleasant, but the entrees could be better. If a friend wanted to go there I would go and just get a small appetizer, but eat an actual meal from somewhere else.
Large caesar salad good
Pizza good but not what we're used to. Very heavy.
absolutely fantastic, the food, the atmosphere, the service, everything is fantastic, one of my favorites restaurants in Philadelphia
Loved the calamari appetizer and the Mediterranean salad. The stuffed meatballs were good too but not my favorite. Pizza was a little soggy but tasted great otherwise. My husband enjoyed his cielo Del Mar pasta. Server was very friendly and attentive.
Amazing dinner and service! Lauren was the best! Thank you again !
Great Pizzas, pasta and salads, buzzing restaurant worth going out of your way for.
Love this place but they must have been short staffed this night cause the service time was sooooo bad!!
This joint may be the best Italian in Philly, everything they make is awesome, and reasonably priced.
This was our first time at Pietro's and loved everything! Beautiful decor and our waiter was wonderful. The food was outstanding! We also had our kids with us and would highly recommend for families. We will definitely be back!
Went for post graduation meal with a party of 11. Family friendly, excellent service, very good meal--something for everyone.
Pietro's food was good comfort food...could use more wine choices. Service was very nice!
It was for a birthday and they were kind enough to come out with the cake lit and singing.
