Pietro St. James
A bit expensive but food and service were very good. Would definitely go back.
Incredible as always. Pietro is a restaurant maestro! As good as I’ve had in Italy...if not better.
The whoke wait staff was amazing. Our waiter was funny and attentive. The staff cleaning the tables and bringing out the food was outstanding as well.
Can’t say enough good things about this place. The food is excellent and the service is fantastic.
The owner even takes the time to make sure everything is ok.
Make sure you try the fresh pasta dishes.
My wife had the salmon and I had the steak both amazing
Love the food. Love the new menu. Great service. Reasonable prices. I would highly recommend.
Understaffed and clueless. No bus staff or a dedicated bartender. Reservation system was either overloaded, broken or not understood. Took 30 minutes to even acknowledge my presence and even then the apology was extremely weak to non-existent. Those who were there working (on a busy Friday night during “Restaurant Week”), were attentive and polite, but overall I was disappointed. Food itself was fine, but there are too many competitors who have their act together and will value me more as a customer.
We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation and were told it would be 10 to 15 minutes. After 1 hour we left. Reservations mean nothing, the place was chaotic.
Can not comment on food. We won’t be returning.
The menu was great an different. Service started out good but deteriorated as it was very busy. It took a while for the drinks to arrive. The appetizers were tasty & well presented. However the fish entree was quite small. The skin on the duck was not soggy but the meat was tender. The carrot puree had no flavor. The dessert was delicious. I would give this restaurant another try on a less busy night.
This is s top-notch restaurant that gets it right in every category. Food, atmosphere, service all perfection
Our favorite local restaurant in every way... delicious, fresh, and inventive food... and wonderful people and service!
Hands down best Italian restaurant on Long Island!!! The owners/chef are very welcoming. Had some of the best meals of my life at this spot. Can't wait to take my friend and family here
Pietro is a great place for a romantic dinner with your partner any day of the week. The food is outstanding the service is awesome. Weekend reservations are a must. Enjoy!!
Can’t say enough about this restaurant. Pietro himself was a total gentleman and accommodating. The food was outstanding and I recommend the lamb shank. They have a nice wine selection and the ambience is cozy and classy at the same time. The wait staff were very professional. A true gem in St. James. Salute! 🍷
The service here was impeccable. Our server was friendly, helpful, and extremely accommodating. The owner/chef Pietro came by a few times to help us pair wines with the dishes we ordered. We were impressed with the selection. It was a delicious experience. Our favorite dishes were the eggplant appetizer, squid ink risotto, and burrata stuffed tortellini in a sage butter sauce. Our least favorite was the octopus appetizer. It was just okay compared to all of the other restaurants we have been to. Not bad, just okay. Everything else was amazing.
Pietro is a favorite! It is consistently delicious, and always such a great pleasure to dine there. Along with the outstanding food, the owner, chef, and staff are very warm and welcoming. We love it!
Salmon was served raw. Ordered steak to be cooked medium and was served rare and the meat was very tough. second glass of wine was ordered during dinner and not brought to the table until requested a second time and after our meal was finished. I will try this restaurant again but this time order pasta. Hope there is a better outcome.
Lovely , lite & bright. Had the mussels and octopus. Both very good but octopus portion quite small for the price. Bread was delicious and Pietro very charming. Would come back to check out other options on menu. Pleasant first visit. Looking forward to the patio dining planned for warmer weather.
We went to Pietro St. James on a weekday evening. The food was great and the service was excellent. The restaurant is rather small, and the tables are therefore located rather close together. When we arrived at 7:00, we were seated immediately and as the restaurant was not yet crowded, the noise level was moderate. However, by 8:00 the restaurant was filling and the noise level was higher. My wife and I both ordered specials -- I had the Branzino, which was quite tasty, and my wife had the Pork tenderloin. which was excellent - moist and well seasoned. The food is not your typical Long Island Italian -- as the waiter explained, it is food one might expect in a restaurant in Italy. The food (and prices) are upscale. We will return with friends next time.
As we get into warmer weather, they will be having outdoor seating as well.
It was a lovely experience. The ownership and staff when above and beyond, very helpful with any questions on the menu. Very efficient as well. Food was amazing!
We’ve must have hit one of those nights. Tables must have been added to the dining room - it was very tight. It was hot in there, noise level was loud, and servers were squeezing by to deliver food. Our appetizers and entree - Rice balls, paella, and lamb shank were just okay. We’ve have patronized Pietro a couple of times prior and it was much better. We don’t know what happened but it needs a fix.
Second time I've been here, and I really like this place. The food is good and the staff is nice and fun
Pietro is upscale restaurant with excellent food and ambiance other that the noise level that made conversation for older people a bit difficult. Attentive and friendly staff.
Celebrating our anniversary. Waiter was very good, answered all our questions about the dishes. We weren’t rushed through each course, which was noteworthy as it was packed that night. Food was delicious. Limoncello on the house was a nice touch and perfect way to end the evening. Highly recommend.
The pasta was very good and the staff were polite and friendly. The place was a bit small and we didn't love the desert. Given the selection of the restaurants in the area a definitely excellent choice.
Absolutely love this restaurant! The food is amazing!
Nice staff. Good was flavorful .
Beautiful ambiance and even better food. It was not a meal but a wonderful experience.
Our second experience was out of this world! The owner is very kind and made us delicious old fashioned cocktails and he also gave us a complimentary appetizer. The other appetizers and meals were amazing, as usual. This is the best restaurant on the Island, for sure. Thank you for the authentic Italian fare.
We were unable to keep our reservation due to the fact that they are not wheelchair accessible. We were sad to hear that
Excellent. Was able to make a reservation on a Saturday night about an hour before for 9PM. It was packed! Service was excellent, the food was delicious. Prices were decent. Would definitely go back!
Awesome, authentic Italian food!! You won’t be disappointed.
Food was good but way too crowded. Virtually push out by the attendant to make room for the next seating- was not asked if we wanted dessert or anything else. And not by the waiter. And we are sensitive to the timing and were not overstaying our welcome. Way too noisy. And the owner selectively stopped by some tables, not ours. Was really hoping that this could be an additional go-to place for us, but this is our last visit for sure.
Food was excellent. Place was way too crowded. Surprised that the fire dept would allow so many people in at one time. We got rushed to leave and on that note we will not be returning.
Party of 7. Everyone was chatting during drinks and apps... then our main courses arrived. We continued for a minute to chat, and the moment came ...the food was so good no one spoke to each other, for the right reasons . Was my 2nd time there, and def not my last
We got there at 6:30 pm, at that time service was excellent, however by 7:30 the place was packed and service went downhill. Food was okay, not great. Expected more from the homemade pasta bolognese but it was lacking taste very bland, same with the gnocchi. Rice balls looked good but also bland. Mixed meat/cheese platter very expensive but very little cheese. Overall food rating 3 stars
Probably our 5th time back, great food, service and atmosphere. Staff and management make you feel like an old friend back to visit.
Pietro restaurant was truly a wonderful experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting the service was delightful and the food was superb. I definitely will return with friends very soon.
Pietro’s is definitely one of our new favorite restaurants. We frequent there often, and it’s always delicious. The owner is so nice and accommodating as well as the rest of the staff!
I cannot emphasize how poor our experience was here. We have eaten here several times before and have overall been ambivalent. The food is decent, the prices are higher than average, which I generally don’t mind if the experience is worthwhile. The wine list is very limited and overpriced. Tonight, however, was an epic disaster. We had a 7 pm reservation and were not seated for over an hour! Many other people waited at least as long. The owner was completely dissociated from what was going on and also unapologetic. The service was poor including lack of attention and bringing us the wrong meals! Considering all aspects of the evening this was one of the worst restaurants we have ever been to. We will not be back. With so many outstanding alternatives in St. James, why would we?
It appears that our expectations from reading other reviews exceeded our actual experience. While the service was exceptional it boarded on being over whelming and intrusive. Somewhat limited menu selections with average results and presentation. Some of the mussels were under cooked and my pasta dish was too salty. The best part of the meal was the panna cotta that we had for dessert.
