Pierre Loti Union Square
Very very very loud.
Convenient location, good selection of wine.
A groups of us went there. We made a reservation and were told they could not honor it despite it being available on Open Table. They then sat us outside in a split group. It was not warm in the space, the food was okay, the service was inconsistent, and the price was much too high for the experience.
Wine list looked good on paper. We ended up going the Whiskey route though, and although the classic 12 yr's and blends were there, they didn't have many good options outside of that. We didn't try the cheese, but the food we got was medicore at best. Do not try the pizza lol.
This was our first time at this restaurant, which by 5 PM was really hopping with young adults. It specializes in world wine selections. And has many options in various price ranges by glass or bottle. The food is a mix of Mediterranean and Turkish flavors. While food menu is somewhat limited it has a couple of dishes that would satisfy most interests. You can get pizza or an entree or everything in between. My friend ordered a very tasty beet salad as well as a veal meatball entree with potatoes, which included another salad. I ordered a trio of bruschetta that would have bee a meal for lunch. The fig, walnut, honey, and cheese one was particularly wonderful. The ravioli was very light and flavorful. Turkish flavors were particularly noticeable in the meat and the mushroom bruschetta. The waiter seemed a little overwhelmed by the crowd.
I didn't have food...not sure why I'd rate what I didn't have...
I have been to Pierre Loti before and have like it. Met a friend here for a drink the other night - we ended up moving outside (even though it was a billion degrees out) because the noise level was quite high inside. We only had a glass of wine each, so no food, but I remember it being more than decent the last time I was in. The service was pretty good - we didn't feel rushed to leave or pressured to order more than one drink or food. I would return.
Expectd more in the way of food and ambiance, based on reviews. Very disappointed
Good first date spot
Very slow service. Food came before drinks. Wine took 25 mins to pour
Was rather disappointed, in the food mostly. We had a charcuterie plate and it was average. The cheeses were just okay, but nothing special at all. Felt like I could've gone to Whole Foods and found much better quality for less money. The two meats were also only okay. Again, nothing special at all. They served this platter with a pile of raisin (and maybe nuts) bread. They should've either served a plain bread or a variety. When I asked for a different bread, we got pita. At least it was plain but not the right bread for charcuterie. The platter also included a small bowl of cornichons but that was half empty. And they threw a few pieces of dried apricots around the platter. Just boring. The waiter was fine but not very attentive for an empty restaurant. Extensive wine list was a positive. The bathroom was nice and clean was another positive.
Had a catch up with former colleagues and the servers were great. The charcuterie platter is a great deal and the server even comped a final glass of wine. Merci!
Great place for wine and small plates, friendly service. It is a cosy, vbrant and comfortable place!! Perfect place to meet friends after work
My friends and I met here for a few glasses of wine. It was cozy and the service was good. The last time we came, the bartender gave good recommendations for wines by the glass, although we split a bottle this time. The happy hour deal is pretty good for a wine bar near union square.
Pierre Loti seems like a quintessential date spot. It got somewhat packed (as to be expected on a Friday night) and hence, slightly loud, but it is a good location and equidistant from were we were traveling.
Great job by staff - waiter and cooks. We came in late (kitchen closing), but they were willing and able to prepare and serve a great meal ... with great wine!! Fun, cozy, friendly gem.
Way too loud. Crammed tables. Mediocre food (the beef dumpling dish had FAR too much vinegar - would be good to chef tastes the seasoning first).
Thanks for being so accommodating when members of our party were late! Service was great!
Superb charcuterie and cheese. Really loud. Young cute crowd. Draught beer would improve the drinks menu.
This place didn’t impress me. The pictures they have online of the outdoor area are actually of the adjoining restaurant which seemed much nicer. We went on a weekday around 6 and they were already allegedly out of most of the menu items. The food was unimpressive for the price and the service was just ok. The outdoor area was dirty crowded and very loud. With the plethora of options available around union square I would definitely go elsewhere.
Great for groups but really not ideal for a first date. High energy and fun place but you'll be hard pressed to hear your partner
Great, but the music could've been lower.
Great wine bar with sharing plates for small groups. We had a friends get-together and shared a bunch of plates and a few bottles of wine. Also very romantic and fun. Would recommend!
My husband and I loved it here. The service, ambiance and wine selection were all great! Our server put together an assortment of cheeses and meats and everything was delicious! A great cozy spot and really friendly service. Can't wait to come back again!
Is one of my favorite places to have an intimate dinner with good wine in Union Square. :)
Got together with my book club. It was quiet and dark, the food was excellent, the wine was delicious, the service was attentive without being overbearing. A good place for a low-key night out.
When we arrived our table was not ready. They had to put together a table despite having made a reservation. Service was not that good, food was average at best - didn't seem very fresh. Would not go back.
Loved the ambiance (cozy and quiet), wine selection and good service. I came with a group of 6 and we had a great time. Also, a great spot for a date!
When I chose this restaurant I intended to have dinner with some friends there- however, there isn't really a dinner menu- it's a fun place for a good selection of appetizers, but we ended up going someplace else in the neighborhood for dinner.
Great ambiance and food ! Romantic and chilling dinner! I would recommend this also for price good balance quality/price
The service was bizarre at best, but the food was excellent and a good value.
Great place to enjoy wine & dinning with friends ... just little crowd between tables if you don't mind
We had a reservation, and were seated quickly. Very good selection of wines, and tasting plates. HOWEVER, the tiny "chips" served with the fois gras are microscopic; it would be much better with the bread that is used for the Tartines.
This was a Friday night, and the place was vibrant and crowded, but not unruly. We are anxious to try on other weeknights for comparison, as this place hes real potential for a great little cozy wine spot!
Cute little spot! Simple. Classy. Great date spot. I'll be back!
Went here only for drinks.
Great wine selection but it was so hot in the restaurant, we had to leave to have food elsewhere.
I love Malbec and unfortunately they only had one option but it was good. Just went for a bottle of wine as i have a Gluten/Dairy allergy and they really didn't have any options for me to choose from. The Hostess was nice and she did call me ahead of time to tell me of the limited options for GF but i wanted to check the place out anyway and decided to go just for wine.
Its great for a nice conversation, romantic encounter, intimate space and nice lighting. I would suggest perhaps they add mixed nuts/dried fruits as an options for GF guest or crudite/hummus options. Just a thought.
Bad food. Bad waitress. Bad room. Owners seem to be spending time somewhere else.
I have been to this location as well as the one in Chelsea, many times. It was a Friday night, but I didn't expect club music to be playing so loud in the main dining room. Luckily it was a nice night and we sat outside. We shared some of the small plates and 2 of our items had things missing from them...different than the menu. I was told that the chef had recently changed the menu, but it seemed odd that they would change the menu and only remove something so minor or replace a certain type of cheese with one less desirable. We didn't enjoy our meal at all.
A nice selection of wine, some are pretty pricey but luckily there is a wide range of prices. For accompaniment, there were good menu options for cheese and charcuterie platters plus some extra snacks. Our server was knowledgeable and able to recommend good choices. Went on a Saturday at 4pm (their opening time) so had a pleasant quiet vibe. Will be back.
