About Pierre Loti Chelsea

Pierre Loti's Chelsea location is outfitted much like its Irving Place sister spot, with a vaguely Turkish vibe and quaint outdoor seating in front. The long space has minimal decoration, with the exception of two star-shaped mirrors adorning the walls, and one long cushion with tables lined in front. The menu is studded with wine-friendly bites and cheeses, but there are also eclectic options like stuffed sardines and bulgur patties . There's a servicable entrée list which includes a tasty pan-seared jumbo sea scallops with sauteed asparagus. The winelist offers about 70 bottles, 20 of which are also available by the glass.

The place was too quiet for a friendly holiday get together, so we left quickly. Need to come back with a date, this is a romantic spot. But it's too romantic for a first date.

We had a reservation for 14 people on a Sunday night for a celebration. The reservation was made well in advance. Unfortunately, when we arrived it was clear that the restaurant was not prepared for us - they had to move two people to a different table to accommodate us. There was only 1 person working the ENTIRE front of the restaurant - working the bar and all of the tables in the restaurant. It took us 3 hours to have drinks and dinner (just mains, not 3 courses). The 1 person did a fine job, obviously not his fault that he was the only one staffed that night, but our overall experience was pretty bad and because of that I won't be going back.

We made dinner reservations, but they were so understaffed that we eventually left after having some drinks. The bartender was acting as the server as well, and it was impossible for her to take care of both jobs. Cute place but they need more help during dinner hour.

The waitstaff was attentive but not hovering. They ran out of a dish but made something special for free for us. Great place to chill.

Wanted a casual dinner before event and it was the perfect spot. Friendly staff & attentive. We ate a few appetizers & small plates -- hummus, Brussel sprouts with walnuts & Turkish figs, veal sausage, salad with beats -- all were really delicious and reasonably priced.

What I liked best about this restaurant was the price point. It is rare to find an entree under $20 in Manhattan. I opted for the vegetarian option, a cauliflower plate, that was, no surprisingly for the price, small but tastey. I paired the dish with a glass of white rioja that I enjoyed, and again was priced affordably. What I liked least about Pierre Loti Chelsea was the ambiance or lack thereof. The restaurant is somewhat of a hole in the wall--very dark, somewhat gloomy. Open doors did not help the mood with West 15th at 8th not a particularly bright spot. If I were to return, I would opt not for dinner but for drinks and tapas.

We reserved for 10, and had a terrific birthday party. It was long table, but it was easy to get up and move around so people could switch around to talk to everyone The owner was there, and knew lots of the clients. We were there for the first time, but he and the staff treated us like regulars. They weren't pushy, but they kept the (excellent, esp the steak frites) tapas coming when were right there to ask if we needed another bottle when one ran dry.

The room is delightful and the place feels lively. But the food is mediocre and the wine selection is poor.

A place with its own special character. An interesting menu with a good number of vegetarian options, which is what we had A special treat was that they are having a rose special with a whole page of rose wines including some good ones and reasonably priced. Waitress was extremely accommodating, which helped because we ordered a large number of small dishes - a challenge to get them on the table along with the wine cooler.

This is one of my neighborhood favorites. The food is always wonderful and the staff always pleasant. Their coffee machine was broken on Sunday so they gave us a complimentary dessert. Excellent wine selection and they have their own reserve.

Had a very limited wine by glass list which seemed surprising for a "wine bar". And the selection was not interesting. Food was not terrible but not great. For instance octopus cooked right but served on blah salad. However the staff was nice and we were able to linger and talk for awhile. The interior was typical brick walled space.

Good food from short menu plus good wine selection. We had excellent Turkish tapas. Small place used a lot by locals as a wine bar and for simple well-prepared tasty food in casual surroundings.

This is a hidden gem for happy hour or meeting friends for a drink. Adorable bar, a deep list of excellent wines and a bartender who can help find you the perfect glass. It's a good vibe/setting for a date or quiet conversation. You can also eat at the bar or order small plates to share.

While the restaurant itself is certainly charming, the food and service leaves much to be desired. First of all, they were out of many items we ordered - food and wine - and the menu isn't very big to begin with. The food that we did order was OK, but nothing special for the price. I spoke with the manager, who was very kind and ended up giving us port and removing a couple items from our bill, but I still can't say I'd recommend it.

I chose this spot because it was close to the Joyce Theater and I didn't want a big meal. I had eaten a late lunch. It was a perfect pre-theater spot. I liked the cozy atmosphere, the choice of music playing (such as Steely Dan), and appreciated the moderate volume that allowed my son and I to have a conversation. We interacted with several different waitstaff and they were all very helpful, pleasant and responsive. We each had a glass of house wine at happy hour $6 prices (we got there before 7:00) so we didn't study the wine list. We started with three cheeses, selected from a nice list. There were many tapas options, mostly with a Mediterranean/Turkish bent. We tried three tapas - bulgar wheat and lamb patties (tasty but perhaps a bit doughy), grilled octopus (cooked perfectly) and grilled shrimp (my favorite and a bit spicy). I'll remember this place for the next time I am in the neighborhood. I probably wouldn't go there for dinner, but recommend it for early or late evening. Note: if you are meeting friends there, make sure they know which location. There is another branch by Gramercy Park and wires could get crossed (I speak from experience).

cozy and fun. Great wait staff and bartender Did all tapas and all were fine. The happy hour prices for the wine (and a few apps) was a bonus. Were not rushed and a fun night. The wines on the happy hour menu were all fine too.

We had a fantastic time this past Saturday at Pierre Loti in Chelsea (15th street). I reserved a table for a 4pm happy hour before dinner and requested a table with great ambiance. PL totally delivered. We were seated at a perfect corner table near all of the wine bottles close to the bar. We had such a wonderful time; great atmosphere, amazing wine and cheese plate. The staff member who seated us also let us order off of the happy hour special menu from our table. We will DEFINITELY be back soon. Highly recommend.

Too noisy, too crowded. And I'm a bit confused about the menu. For years, they served dinner, then they switched to just tapas. Now it seems like they are sort of/maybe back to a dinner menu, though not like it was a few years ago.

This is a quality wine bar with great selections by the glass and some value bottles. We only had a few of the dishes but they were all tasty. If you go in knowing what to expect, you'll be very satisfied. The service was friendly and helpful.

Dropped by for a delicious light dinner on a Friday to Pierre Loti in Chelsea. Dark lighting with candles at the bar and tables, with music in the background that does allow for nice conversations; very romantic that way. Enjoyed the special of three cheeses (we selected from about a dozen choices) that come with hot pita bread and olives, plus a Pilsner beer from Turkey and a cocktail made to order. Staff was gracious and friendly, and our server was from Turkey and explained what some of the offerings were. We added a flavorful Pierre Salad so we had a light meal that was delicious, relaxed in a great atmosphere and at reasonable prices. Highly recommend and we will visit again!
