Food was good price was a little pricey We called for reservations Saturday afternoon for 2 people at 7:30 same day and were accommodated. Surprised there was no one sitting at the bar when we arrived or when we left around 9:15. Very nice atmosphere for a date night.
We’ve just returned from a 50th birthday celebration at Pierpont’s. From the moment we arrived, we had exceptional service. We were greeted with a “Happy Birthday” and it only went up from there.
I choose the 4 course tasting with wine pairings. Mushroom risotto, Walnut & Pear salad, Filet Mignon with roasted garlic whipped potatoes, asparagus, and a delicious Cognac demi-glacé, and the Strawberry Rhubarb Shortcake. Each of the wines poured with the accompanying course were delicious. There wasn’t a thing left on my plate. The serving portions were enough to feel full but not uncomfortably full. I can’t recommend this meal enough.
My boyfriend had the Bone-in Rib-eye and has happily told everyone THIS was the best steak he’s had in Kansas City.
We shared the Citrus Marinated Yellowtail ... delicious.
The service was amazing.
I couldn’t recommend Pierpont’s more. Thank you for making our birthday celebration one to remember
We had not been to Pierpont's in a year or two, but it remains a great restaurant. For starters the ambiance of Union Station and the art deco style of Pierpont's is great, especially for a special occasion (we were celebrating my wife's birthday). The staff is very friendly and helpful. We opted for a bottle of the featured wine and the fixe pris small plates, both of which were excellent choices. It is a consistently great place.
What's not to love at Pierponts? The tasting menus are a great way to sample various plates at smaller portions. Their cocktails and wine list are comprehensive and their service is always appropriate. The venue is enchanting and it's always a good dining experience.
Great food and dining experience. The setting is always wonderful. Service was exceptional. What you would expect from a higher end restaurant. Paired it with dancing at the USO dance:)
Our dinner at Pierpont’s on July 11 was for our 38th Anniversary. The food was outstanding from the crab cakes and Walnut Pear Salad to the Seafood Stew and Filet Mignon. Craig was our server, and he did a great job! He was very knowlegable about the menu, and he entertained us with his stories. Tim, the Manager, came to wish us a Happy Anniversary and stayed to chat with us. It was a wonderful and memorable anniversary dinner!
Anniversary lunch always go to Pierpont’s however, missed Jan this year. Alex was very nice and helpful. We enjoy these visits even with the drive and crazy parking situation.
We enjoyed our dinner at Pierpont’s. The waiter was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Our steak and porckchop were the requested temperature and tasted delicious.
Biggest disappointment was our table for 6.
Very cramped and uncomfortable.
Wonderful experience at Pierponts - food and service were both excellent.
Great iconic restaurant within the Union Station in Kansas City. Proprietor Tim provided exceptional wine service with a list to seek out and explore! The bar is the best in the city. Menu did not disappoint with my filet being cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend this experience, especially on Sunday when parking is not a challenge.
Service was a little slow, but the wait staff is very friendly. The food is always great! It’s one of our favorite restaurants in KC.
A great place. Took my husband there for his birthday and everything was excellent. A little pricey but worth it if you're celebrating something special or craving a great steak. Their fresh bread and wine were also great.
Good food and service
Two of us ordered salads which were just ok. I ordered the pear and walnut salad and it wasn’t what I expected after reading the description in the menu. Another person ordered the melon salad and she also said it wasn’t what she expected after reading the menu. She ate the fruit on the salad but left the greens. One person ordered the Reuben and it was good although she said she wished she had ordered the steak burger. The only person that was really happy with the meal was my boyfriend and he ordered the steak burger which was a blend of ground filet, ground sirloin and ground ribeye. He said it was delicious. Thus the reason for my 3 star rating because 3 of us thought the meal was just ok and one of us thought it was very good.
Superb in every way. It was a treat to go to dinner where the food exceeds our expectations as we cook at home every night. Fresh ingredients beautifully prepared, excellent wait staff. Fillet was cooked to perfection. Elegant setting. We haven’t found a restaurant in KC that rivals Pierpont’s.
Great food and ambiance. The blue crab soup was delicious! Excellent steak. Would highly recommend.
The whole Pierpont staff and especially our waiter Cameron provided excellent service for our birthday dinner. We really enjoyed the "small plates" menu with the opportunity to hand-pick a 3 course meal. The food was high quality and imaginative and the presentation was very thoughtful. It was a fun culinary experience for our whole group.
What a terrific spot , great ambience and service was top notch .... a truly terrific steakhouse experience
Great steak but overpriced Oscar (light sauce). Crab cakes so-so. Bread excellent. The asparagus and potatoes not great. Add couple beers and total $100 before tip. Too high for what is was. I would be okay with $120 for my meal but wanted to love it for that price.
It was a great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food and service was outstanding!
Pierpont's @ Union Station is consistently delicious! I've dined here on more than one occasion - the food is always delicious, the staff gracious and accommodating and the atmosphere conducive for anything from a business meeting/dinner to date night.
The food quality and the service seems to have declined lately. The atmosphere is still great.
Absolutely wonderful!!! Consistantly wonderful!!! The steak was seasoned and prepared perfectly, I couldn't stop eating it. The blue crab and corn bisque is fabulous.
Everything was just ok. The guys ordered ribeyes and ended up with strips. (My husband works in the meat industry) Waitress seemed a bit scattered. I had to ask for things and remind her of drinks that we had ordered but hadn’t received. She was Not familiar with the specials or apparently what they were out of that day. For $500 I’d stick with 801.
Deanna, Follow up: From our Exec Chef: "The eye muscle of the ribeye is the same muscle we get striploin from. As you move from one end of the ribeye to the other you begin to see the muscle shape transitioning to the striploin shape. Some chefs will use the last cut from a ribeye as part of their KC Strip cuts. Perhaps we should do the same?" Thank you for your feedback and the inspiration for a positive change.
Our server was not interested in giving us good service from the get-go. It took 20 minutes to be greeted and we still didn't have menus. Another 35 minutes went by before a manager finally realized that we still hadn't ordered dinner. He took our order and the server pretended as if this was completely fine and normal. I had ordered a $20 glass of wine to drink while eating my filet and I was done with dinner before a manager came by to pour me my glass of wine. All around bad service and I was very disheartened because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
We were celebrating Fathers Day (one day early 🤗). The service was excellent. Our waiter was training a young lady. They both did an outstanding job. They were patient, answered all of our questions (my dad is picky) and pleasant to talk to. The food was amazing. Not a long wait. Every time I go to Pierpont’s I have a great experience. Can’t wait to return.
Thank you for your kind words! Just from reading your review, we can tell that you are the type of guests that inspire us to do what we do.
The bread was moldy but as soon as we told our server, he brought a manager over, apologized a lot, and gave us free delicious desserts. Great customer service! A little overpriced, but food was pretty good.
Always enjoy pair pants, it is our favorite restaurant in Kansas City! It is on the pricey side so it is a two or three times a year Place for us. Food is always great staff is always wonderful!
In KC for the weekend. As Pierpont’s was so close to where we were staying, the Westin at Crowne Center, my son and I dined there. He got the 8 oz. Filet and I got the Double Cut Pork Chop. We both got the Garlic mashed potatoes. My chop was cooked to perfection. Service staff was attentive without being too over bearing. A meal for two will be a bit pricey but the food makes up for that on special occasions.
The food was fantastic. The waitresses was great. This was our first time there, and we can’t wait to go back.
The food and service were excellent. We had to change tables because one party was so loud we couldn’t hear our own conversation
A little trouble pacing the meal and especially pre-bussing the plates between courses.
Three of us had lunch before attending a play. All of us enjoyed our entrees. Server very personable. My only complaint is that my $10 drink was almost nothing but ice.
The experience, as always was great. The food was excellent, prepared perfectly and well timed. Our waiter, Cameron was terrific, and made our wedding anniversary a memorable one.
I normally don't write negative reviews, but after spending $200 at Pierpont's, I felt it was something that I needed to do. The KC Strip was tough and almost too salty to eat. My wife ordered Salmon, medium-rare, and it was well-done and salty as well. The preparation was simply throwing something on a plate, no bread was offered and the server didn't check on us until we were almost finished with the meal. The place was almost empty at 8:30 on a Saturday night so I'm not sure why more attention couldn't be directed at getting the few dishes they served, right. I vote with my wallet and I will not be returning to Pierpont's at Union Station.
We were there for our 27th anniversary. Everyone was great and the service was excellent!
We sat in the bar and were happy to be at Pierponts for a special occasion. The steak and mussels were good but it took us over an hour to find our waiter and order. We didn't get drinks for 1/2 hour. When our dinner did come the waiter didn't check with us as is customary. When I complained, he defended himself and had a unconcerned attitude. It seems the restaurant has some employee issues since I saw other reviews with the same problem. While he did return some minutes later and say he would "WOW" us the next time, we have a bad memory that is difficult to forget.
Steak was tough and cold. Service was good. Overall experience was marginal at best
