Pierpont is always a great experience!
Quickly seated, slow to bring menu and take drink orders due to it being prom night. But over all service was great! perfect amount of attentiveness and amiable wait staff. We had 4 course meal for 4 people. Chefs paired flavors well on each dish.
We come here about 4 times a year. Always happy. For the first time, the steaks were awful. We have never experienced this before. Both of our steaks were dry, there was almost no juice at all. My boyfriend ordered "medium rare" ribeye and I ordered "medium well" KC Strip. Not cheap. I had to drown mine in steak sauce, it was so horribly over cooked. I ended up taking 1/2 of it home (not sure what I am even going to do with it). The flavor tasted like they were regular supermarket steaks. We come here all the time and have never experienced this before. For the price they are charging for their steaks you would think they would be superior cuts of steak, juicy & flavorful. So disappointed this time.
Bar is nice and large, but not an energetic crowd @ bar. The service was great. The food was WOW - exceptional Chef. My wife is a vegetarian and the waitress informed us the Chef's wife is too. I'm not, I tasted her "squash" - and I may order THAT next time!!! Exceptional FLAVOR+, yet the chicken I got was a 9.5 on scale 1-10 (and I'm really picky).
I don't usually leave reviews but I felt this one warranted a few words. Let's start with the good stuff: We were able to get in before our reservation, the dining room was very quiet, the server was friendly. Our appetizer was good and my steak was perfect. Unfortunately, the rest was enough for me to put out a warning. The wine list is EXTENSIVE but very overpriced. If you want to order wine, only do it on Sunday nights when bottles are half price. Our salads weren't good. Not much flavor and I blame the dressings. My wife got the anti-caesar and I had the walnut pear salad. Both missed the mark for us. We waited a looong time between the salad and the main course. Like the party of six next to us were seated just before we received our salads and they ate apps, dinner and a dessert, paid and left before our entrees arrived. So it wasn't everyone's experience, but it was ours. My wife's scallops said they came with goat cheese grits. This is the reason she ordered it. There was about a single spoonful of grits - almost garnish style - smeared on the side of the plate. She prob could've lived with it except it came with only 3 scallops. That's probably the right amount if it came with a real side dish. It did not. Lastly, the flourless chocolate cake tasted fantastic - some places say they have a flourless chocolate cake and it just isn't. This was the real deal. Dense, great flavor, the melt-in-your-mouth smoothness. Really well done. My gripe with this is it was our anniversary. I mentioned it upon booking, the hostess mentioned it, our waiter mentioned it. The couple next to us got a complimentary dessert and champagne toast. We didn't get anything. No note, nothing. I feel mixed about saying something because we weren't expecting anything, but when the couple next to us got something and we didn't, it rubbed me the wrong way. Anywho - for $100 per person all told, I think we'll go somewhere else for our anniversary next year, and you probably should too.
I'd only recommending Pierpoint for its historical prominence in Kansas City. The food was tasty but the ambience fell flat.
Superb meal in a cozy setting. We had the small plates and loved all three courses. Especially outstanding was the rabbit stew with spaetzle, the wedding soup, and the filet. A one-of-a-kind setting with impeccable service and unique dishes done well. We will certainly be back!
Birthday celebration for my husband. Had a great time and Vicki, our server, was really wonderful. Very personable and charming. The food was good but overpriced. It was a special occasion so worth the experience.
The food and service are always outstanding!! What was greatly appreciated was how quickly they took care of a (minor) issue with our food and the temperature of one of the side dishes. Recently ate there with my five sisters as we were all in town for a gathering/reunion. Pierponts treated us well!! The bar area is breathtaking (and great drinks and selection!) and the steaks melt in your mouth.......Love the side dishes as well.
Our experience was very enjoyable from the wine tasting event at the beginning to the flaming bread pudding at the end!
Great waiter and wonderful food!
I really enjoyed my dinner. The 3 course dinner was very reasonably priced and delicious. The bread pudding flambé was excellent. Our server was attentive and the wine pairings were nice. Would happily go again.
excellent special night eating experience......highly recommend it
Very personal attention
Nice setting at the historic train station with a fascinating bar, service was above average but I've had better steaks and the price was too high with lots of add-ons.
Wonderful food and staff as always on our previous visits. Very accommodating kitchen with 2 kids and 1 “particular” adult eater. Almost to the point of required dining for me when I visit KC.
Birthday celebration for my wife and our family. Graciously seated with explanations by the hostess. Our server brought water and glasses promptly and greeted us, then explained the specials and asked if we would like drinks. And away we went...a wonderful meal with all of us having filet mignon for our mains. Our soups and salads were excellent too (the crab bisque is outstanding). For desert we had coffee and a peanut butter cheese cake like tort with oatmeal crust and crumbles and drizzled with blackberry sauce.
OH YEAHHHHHH!!!!! This is one of the best deserts in the greater KC area. Our server was Gabe and he was excellent. A pleasure to have both serving us and chatting now and then.
Great Food, great service and great ambiance! Highly recommend
As always, a superb dining experience. Wonderful food, excellent service made for a perfect evening.
Our service was excellent. Kyle was an awesome server and very accommodating.
This is a great up scale restaurant. The food was great, service was good, and the atmosphere was great.
Our service was so slow. Our food was less than average. Our bill was huge! $60 for a steak that was really fatty!
We had a very good experience and plan to return.
The food was good and the service was very good. However, the food was priced like it was great and it was not. The noise level was too loud as well. We were a table of four and we had trouble hearing each other at times.
Awesome food and staff. First class. Would highly recommend
It was amazing
Absolutely loved it here!!! Food was delicious! Can’t wait to go back next time we are in town!!
Love the ambiance and the food
A Kansas City favorite!! Pierpont’s never disappoints! The food was delicious and service was amazing. John was so kind and very attentive!
The folks who work at Pierpont's were all very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived all through dinner. Suzanne was fun as our server and helped us make a friend's birthday extra special. The only disappointment was the Diver Scallops option - not the scallops, but the food that was also on the plate. There wasn't much of it. The menu said grits, but where were they?
Union station is a special, unique building and to have such an amazing restaurant in Union Station id just is a perfect combination.
Where do you live in Kansas City or you’re just passing through if you have not been here for a drink at the bar or for a dinner you really should find a chance and go.
This was not my first time here but the service and food was as perfect as it always is.
Great food and service. We had the tasting menu which was a good variety.
Beautiful setting. Outstanding service. Food very good!!
Love the bar menu, spectacular ambience, delicious food. A gem.
We WiLL be back!! From start to finish Great Experience!!
Great food, great service. Loved it. I road the trains from Union Station in the middle 50s, so this was very nostalgic. Maybe something to show the history of the Union Station would be helpful.
Cameron K was superb! Food amazing! Wonderful little get together to celebrate a friends birthday.
Loved the experience Soup was excellent. The Salmon was a little dry. The sourdough bread was delicious. We will be back.
The architecture of the restaurant is beautiful, and the starters were delicious, but both main courses (filet mignon and scallops) tasted of nothing but salt, lots and lots of salt.
