   Cool place. Good drink and beer menu. We did not try the raw bar stuff. Shrimp and grits were good but more like a etoufee sauce. Scallops were good. Nothing at al bad about the place and prices were fair, just not amazing food.

   The service was terrible. No silverware, when it was supplied it was not appropriate (no soup spoons, etc.). It took an hour to get our food and we did not order items that take a long time. 2 bowls of soup, 1 salad, 3 orders of grilled oysters and 1 order of steamed oysters. Food was tasty but arrived cold for most of our party. I was the only one with a partially hot meal.

   Even though our server was new (this was her first week), she gave us lots of attention and very good service. The kitchen was slow getting out the food, and the server kept checking on the status and letting us know how much longer we would wait. When the scallops arrived, they were so large that I cut them into quarters. Perfectly seared and very moist. Wonderful! The Ahi tuna was sliced thinly and fanned out on the plate; very artful presentation.

   We have enjoyed dining here in the past, but were disappointed in this most recent experience. Not sure if there has been a management change or high turnover in kitchen, but the food was over salted and below par. Service was fair. Maybe it was just an off night, but this will not make the top of our dining list for awhile.

   I been here many times before, but this time was a huge disappointment. I brought family for a special gathering. We had reservations, but they gave our table away so we had to wait while they moved those people- how awkward for all involved. Then we sat, and sat and sat. Our server was amazing and she apologized over and over, but no food! The food was really good once we finally got it. They were out of some things, though we were there early in the evening. We did receive a discount off our bill for the trouble, which was the right thing to do. We will likely come back because we love it there. But there were some serious management issues. Cold outside, yet the heaters at the door sat unlit. People waited outside FOREVER to be addressed by the hostess (we had nothing else to do but watch). Bathroom lights were out in the ladies room. When we asked about a drink on the bar menu- neither the server or the bartender knew anything about the alcohol that was in it- one of their signature whiskey mule drinks!

   We’ve been here three times and each time the service was sub-par due largely to a poorly trained wait staff. I’d love to offer my services to them as a Service consultant to help them improve! Let’s start with being pleasant to the guests, perhaps smile? Everyone working here appears to be in misery, from the hostess to the bartenders to the manager who walked by twice and didn’t pick up our empty plates. Help eac other people! The Oysters are good and the other things we’ve tried, salads, soups, etc...are, meh, ok. But my steamed oysters arrived raw & I didn’t have time to wait for a new batch. Nothing was offered to compensate for the error. I ate them and they were yummy, but it’s not my preferred presentation. The thing I think I dislike the most is that it’s colddddd in there! The front door opening & closing constantly, even being seated near the bar- it’s uncomfortably cold! Invest in a vestibule! I also almost tripped twice on the wavy, squishy floor on my way to the ladies room.. and I was sober. That floor is an accident waiting to happen. I want to love Pier, because they’re the only oyster joint in town, but the experience just doesn’t match the almost $100 price tag for 2. They could be so much better, with some skilled management, I believe!

   The food was good, and the oysters as well. The oysters could have been shucked a little better, there was an obvious piece of shell broken off in one of mine. The wait staff needs a little more training as well, all of our food was brought out at once, and once the food was out, we didn't see our water until we were finished. Overall, good food with a few kinks to iron out.

   We went to Pier Oyster Bar and Grille for my husband's birthday. I made a 6:30 dinner reservation for a party of 8. When we arrived, our table was ready and we were seated right away. We placed our drink orders first, they arrived right away and were correct. The waiter placed our bottle of wine on the table for us to open and pour ourselves???? Next, our waiter took our soup, salad and entree orders after our drinks were served. When our food was served, 3 of the entrees' came out first, followed by 2 salads, and 1 bowl of soup, with no spoon. After 15 + minutes, the other soup and 2 entrees were served. Two people in our party cancelled their salads because they waited so long for them and their entrees were served beforehand. A second soup order was finally served after all 8 entrees were served, again, with no spoon. The manager came over to our table to apologize for the poor service and to give us a discount on our bill. We ordered a second bottle of wine with him, but it never came. When it came time to pay the bill, we had the waiter split our bill by couples-big mistake, HUGE. After waiting for more than 35 minutes for the waiter to try to figure out our bill. I actually flagged down the manager to see if he could help our waiter. I finally walked to the back of the restaurant, handed our waiter 4 credit cards and told him to split the bill 4 ways. We never actually saw an itemized bill. We were ready to get the heck out of the restaurant, we finally paid our bill at 9:00. The food was really good, the one redeeming part of our fiasco night and service both by the waiter and manager.

    First time there. We Had the Big Rock oysters (excellent) and calamari (very good) for appetizers. Scallops (very good) and Mahi-mahi (average) for dinner entrees. Overall, good experience, server was friendly and prompt. The kitchen was quick in preparing everything. Will go again
