TWO OVERWHELMED AND NOT TRAINED BAR TENDERS, THEY HAD NO IDEA OF WHAT THEY WERE DOING. THE FOOD WAS BLAND AND BORING. HIGHLY OVER PRICED, AND NON-TRAINED WAIT STAFF MADE A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE. THE ONLY PEOPLE I SAW REALLY WORKING AND KNEW THEIR JOB WELL WAS THE BUS BOYS AND BAR-BACKS.
I looked at food photos on Open Table before dining. Almost everything I saw looked very healthy. I will say the Oysters, Dock Shrimp, Macaroni and cocktails were stellar, however all 3 of us were a bit disappointed in our entrees. My husband and I both got the "crispy snapper". I have had breaded fish at nice restaurants before, and they aren't your typical fried fish, and the fact that the menu said "crispy crusted" I assumed crusted and pan seared. Nope, it came out looking like a giant friend oyster. Super salty thick batter on a light white fish. (I woke up swollen in the middle of the night from the sodium). Our son got the blue crab grilled cheese. Sounded great, but it came out on a hoagie bun and by the first bite, the bread was so tough all the meat and cheese slid out. We will definitely be back to give some of the other menu items a try.
Was expecting this restaurant to be something different than it was. If you want casual, energetic, with good food, this is your place. It doesn't live up to all the press it has been getting.
We arrived 10 minutes late due to an accident on 146. We called to let them know and it went to an answering machine. Once arrived, the hostess told us we needed to wait until the people who were eating at our table were done. I asked her if they had another table and they seated us outside on the patio which was nice because of the beautiful weather. It took 10 minutes before we were helped. Our waitress was nice but spread thin because of where her table were located. It looked to us like they had staff not well trained, and under staffed for the size of the place.
Drink menu is very limited and an extremely limited wine menu. We ordered drinks and it took 10 minutes for those to arrive. Had a hard time getting a refill on water. After asking twice, I finally waived down the manager and she brought us a carafe of water.
For dinner we started with the shrimp campechana. Nice flavor but not a lot of shrimp. There were 2 large shrimp and maybe four very small shrimp. It says it is served with tortilla chips which is four very large tortilla chips which were tasty. For dinner I ordered the Crab Cakes which were delicious along with the Old Bay Tarter Sauce. My husband had the Red Fish with Chimmichurri sauce. He said it was very good. This entrees did not come with sides so we ordered the asparagus and carrots. Not worth the money.
Our waitress came with the bill before asking if we wanted dessert. Because of the bad service we decided to skip dessert.
I hope they can get it together because I thing the food is good but the service needs a lot of improvement. The description of the restaurant is casual with dress being business casual. If going, jeans and shorts are appropriate. If from Houston, not worth the drive. To many good restaurants in the city.
It was great! Wish we had made it during daylight, look forward to the lunch menu.
Absolutely wonderful in food, ambiance and service. Need to work on the dessert menu though. No chocolate.
An absolute first class experience with great relaxing view and exquisite seafood. Simple. Tasty. Great wine list. Well intentioned servers. Allow plenty of time to get here due to traffic in I 45 and construction all over the area. Well worth the drive from Katy.
The food and drinks were top notch! We went at sunset, and the view was fantastic!
Good food and drinks! Service was great.
Glad we made reservations.
Food was great! Loved the fish dip!!! I had Grouper and it was outstanding! Boyfriend had the oysters and he said they were great!
#piersixseafood is the place you will fall in love with seafood again. Amazing atmosphere, phenomenal chef, tremendous menu, every bite was better than the last. Don't miss the dessert menu!
The drinks were excellent and not weak. The Macoroni and Crab was amazing. One of My best dining experiences ever. This is in comparison to Perry’s steak house and the likes. Don’t waste your time going to Top Water Grill anymore. This is the areas true 5 star restaurant.
Enjoy the oysters. The crusty red snapper was over cooked in my opinion. My wife enjoyed the crabcakes. I think I’ll come back but it will be far more basic seafood snacks and oysters
Pier 6 is amazing!! From the decor to dessert, it's all put together harmoniously. If you've limited yourself to eating out once every so often, please do yourself a favor and make that so often Pier 6. You won't be disappointed! After our first visit, we have vowed to return enough times to try everything on the menu - including their incredible cocktails!
Best crab cakes I've had!! Charbroiled oysters were amazing, and the oyster chowder was seasoned very well.
Oysters were fresh and tasty. We tried the raw and grilled oysters. The smoked fish dip was also quite good. For our entree we shared the crusted snapper, which was excellent. Menu options and prices overall were quite reasonable. Our service was very poor. We had two ask three times and involve two different staff members to get a fork. Also had to wait way too long to get some napkins. And the drink service was pretty slow. Generally I thought the decor was nice but couldn’t quite connect with the chic vibe they are going for. Club music in a Seafood / Oyster House on the bay was a little odd.
This restaurant PIER 6 is outstanding. We have eaten here 5 times, and I think its only been open for two weeks. The atmosphere is exquisite. It is a 5 star restaurant in food quality and ambiance... where I can choose high heels or flip flops, and fit right in. The grilled Prestige Oysters are my favorite appetizer, and second fav are the Tuna Tostados. Favorite entree.... it is hard to choose. I've enjoyed the grouper, red fish, tuna, chicken and ribeye steak... all were delicious. Favorite side dish... for sure, the mac and cheese with crab... omg. And last night, for dessert, we chose Nutella Smores. My favorite drink is something Watermelon.... served over shaved ice and topped with Tajin spice... yummy!
Should up and we’re seated within 5 minutes and everything was great......then 5 minutes after being seated we were finally greeted by our waitress who proceeded to take our drink order. 20 minutes later our drinks came out and my wife’s was not what she ordered and the guy who delivered it said well maybe should just try it because you might just like it.......we then stood up and walked out. The food looked good as we watched it go by while we waited on our drinks but for now we won’t be back anytime soon!
Only the 3rd week. Still working out the rough edges. 2 plates and 1 wine glass came out “filthy” and were sent back before using. Food was quite good, although broccoli on 2 orders was so overcooked as to be inedible. Snapper Crudo superb. Grouper excellent but had to ask for extra sauce as there was barely any on the plate. Crusted snapper a little overdone, but quite tasty. Wines reasonably priced.
Will definitely be returning but will sit at the outside patio bar for appetizers and drinks.
Do not come to Pier 6 if you are not comfortable with crowds and many people (patrons and workers) failing to comply with Texas face covering orders. I did expect to see some patrons ignoring the rules... this is Galveston County after all. I was greeted by two hostesses upon arrival. One's mask was under her chin and the other uncovered her mouth to speak. About half the patrons walked through the restaurant without face coverings. Most disconcerting was when the owner walked to a table in the corner of the restaurant with no face covering to join a group. Most people in my party were happy with their selection, but my grouper was overcooked and flavorless.
Enjoyable. Good food and drinks. Cool new restaurant in San Leon, Texas right on Galveston Bay. Nice breeze, good views.
Fresh ingredients cooked and prepared very well. Delicious.
Great food with covered outdoor dining and bar overlooking the bay.
Love the ambiance and the food of the restaurant.
Awesome place, great location overall food is ok. Good variety and oysters are good.
Food was excellent wit great presentation and service. We’ll be a regular customer here.
The oysters were phenomenal. Some of the best crab cakes I have ever had. Drinks were good. I like the atmosphere. Highly recommend! Portions are on the small side.
Campachana was spicy but good. The red snapper was very good ,but the etoufee was outstanding! I hear the raw oysters are the best ever!
I like that there’s plenty of outdoor seating. Reservations are a must.
Great atmosphere, food and service. We dined on raw and grilled oysters that we fresh and well prepared. We also had the fried platter with snapper, shrimp and oysters. The also we well prepared and delicious. Would like to see fried shrimp and oysters on the menu as they were quite good. We will be back!
Wonderful gem! Happily surprised by this new finer dining option in the area
All around excellent
A great experience while being here. Me and my wife tried a few things off the menu and each one of them was a knock out of the park. (Grilled Prestige oysters, Wood fire grilled Yellow Fin Tuna, and Tide to Fried)
Family in town
This restaurant had only been open a week and we were amazed at how smoothly everything went. The food & service were wonderful.
Food was excellent. Bar was subpar as all drinks were slow and ended canceling last order as we already had entree and had to wait on winw
Pier 6 is a great new addition to the Bay Area in San Leon. The location on Galveston Bay with a view of Redfish Island is excellent. The decor is bright, contemporary and has ample outdoor, covered dining with huge oyster bar and more seating inside. It is not recognizable as the former Bubbas Shrimp Palace. Now quite upscale and very busy.
The menu is very interesting and certainly upscale and innovative. Appetizers such as Seafood Corndogs , a variety of grilled oysters and Seafood Fondue make it fun and interesting.
The Grilled Prestige Oysters with a parmesean, lemon butter topping were served on the half shell on toasts for dipping . This dish was tasty but needed extra sauce.
The Seafood fondue was served with a warm loaf of French bread. It was creamy, cheesy and loaded with seafood.
The side dish of Lobster Potato Salad was outstanding with big chunks of lobster, potato and an herb mayonnaise sauce.
On our first visit, we ate appetizers only but will try an entree next time. Grilled fish, Riibeye Steaks, Bluecrab Cakes , Seafood Platter and Bluecrab Grlled Cheese Sandwiches with Old Bay Potato Chips all sounded delicious!
Be prepared for expensive wine and mixed drink prices but worth it for the ambience and great food.
Wait staff needs a little more training. We felt a little hurried and there was a lack of familiarity with scotch brands and a rush to remove plates. All part of new restaurant opening.
We definitely look forward to our next visit.
The food was fantastic, the ambience outstanding, and the overall experience was wonderful. We celebrated my mother’s birthday, and we could not have been more pleased with our selection. We will definitely be back!
So excited for this restaurant - the food was superb! Started either the seafood fondue, which was a larger portion than expected and very good! The blue crab oysters were the bomb! I also had the crab grilled cheese (panini style) with house made bay season chips and lobster Mac, which was the standout! The feel is modern and hip without being pretentious. Overall I look forward to going back!
We had a very nice early dinner. The food was great with a wonderful view of the water. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very nice. We will definitely go back.
Amazing food and drinks! We can't wait to go back!
