The food was good and no issue with service, but WAY over priced for what you get. Yes many higher end places you don’t get a lot of food but $37 for a 3 1/2 - 4 oz of grilled fish with NO side or anything else....yeah that is pushing it! Just one example. $110 later excluding alcohol and dessert and to leave not full, yeah we won’t be back

We had the tasting menu as we would not have known what to order. There was a lot of food, and it was very unusual, and delicious. If you are feeling adventurous, this is the place to go.

If I'm just reviewing the food quality and service, it would be 5 stars. Every dish that we ordered was unique in taste and delicious. The service was awesome, helpful and very friendly. They really made us feel welcomed. What made it bad was the restaurant's location. It's located in a very undesirable neighborhood. Parking was also difficult. Is it worth the drive? I would say "yes" to that because of their food and service. Give it a try.

Food was not bad but the portion was so small and the price was expensive for that portion. They had many Japanese sake (quite impressive!) and some other drinks!

It was quite busy restaurant. Service was okay to me, nothing extraordinary.

We loved this place. The cocktails are fresh and well crafted and the menu is thoughtful. We had the oyster shots, yum. The chicken wings are a must. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the service personal and relaxed, just the way we like it.

We had the chef’s tasting menu. I thought it was excellent value - the portions were good and there was so much variety. The standout was the cultivated mushroom dish, but we enjoyed everything. We would definitely eat here again.

One of the best meals I've had this year, and I've had a lot to eat since January. Creative, delicious food that is not fussy. Ambitious, but with a clear vision. I would eat here till they got sick of me if I were a local.

I have been here before and I must say this is my new favourite place. I went back on Saturday for a date and as expected the food was sensational, the service exceptional and the atmosphere is just perfect, not to loud so you are able to have a conversation with the people you are there with. This was a great experience and I recommend everyone to go. Love it!

Will never go there again, waitress is arrogant, when we asked about hot water, she said water is from hot tap do they use hot tap water to make tea? Since you are Asian dining, you should know Asian does not drink cold tap water. The worst is charged 25.00 fee while they said they only charge 1.00 on Sunday on their website. Bad experience. Food was ok.

We were looking for a new neighbourhood hang-out. Our old standby Bambudda has been gone for awhile now. Pidgin is great for local Gastown patrons! The burrata and peaches appetizer was delicious. The sablefish was the best I’ve ever had in Vancouver.

Very innovative fusion food that was tasty and thoughtful. Small did not seem that small to me. There were 2 of us sharing 2 'small', 1 'large' and 2 desserts, and we were full after. Price was very reasonable.

Pidgin is easily one of my top restaurant choices in Vancouver. A fantastic menu full of deliciously creative dishes and outstanding cocktails. The staff is a prime example of top notch customer service - attentive, courteous, knowledgeable. Highly recommend Pidgin to anyone living in or visiting Vancouver.

We made a reservation on open table for 9:30. We were planning on having the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Once we got to order, the waitress told us the tasting menu was not available anymore and we then got rushed to order plates from the à la carte menu as the kitchen was closing. It was a frustrating experience since we had booked in advance and expected the experience to be consistent with earlier bookings. If you cannot provide a decent experience past a certain time, do not take reservations after those hours. The bare minimum would be to inform the customers when they make the reservation.

We were rushed to eat in an hour while the staff was cleaning the place. The food was good, but not exceptional.

That being said, the manager did his best to try to make up for the bad experience which was very appreciated. Without his intervention, we would have left. He provided an excellent service and compensated us for the inconvenience. Still, it was a very disappointing experience.

We purchased a Travel Zoo coupon for the 7-course dinner at Pidgin. The food, drinks, service, and ambiance were great, however, I was quite surprised when the bill came and there was a mandatory 23% gratuity added to our bill. I understand that when there are coupons, the misconception is you can tip based on the discounted amount. I was fully prepared to tip based on the full amount, but 23% is rather high, especially for a party of 2. I'm not trying to be cheap, and having worked in the food industry, I am more than happy to leave a large tip when service is exceptional, but I really did not like that it was imposed and just added to the bill. That really made me reconsider ever returning to Pidgin.

We had a reservation for 9:15. We ordered our drinks and appies (wings and mushrooms). Our server brought our drinks. The One Eyed Samurai, the cocktail I was looking forward to came with watermelon shaved ice on top and instructions from our server to "just dump it in the drink". Well, I am no scientist but I think when a glass is already full and you add to it, it overflows. So I "dumped it" in and it overflowed. I mopped up the mess and now my $14 cocktail had about $9 worth left and a sticky table. We decided we wanted a couple more small plates and were promptly told by our server "the kitchen is totally slammed right now, they have tickets lined up and it is easier if you just decide what you want and order it all at once". Seriously. So we made our selections and placed our order. I ordered the Perch and my husband the Pork belly rice bowl along with the beef carpacio. She then returned to our table to tell me they were out of Perch so I asked for a menu. I couldn't decide so I asked for a recommendation she said "well I dont know what you like". I would think a more appropriate response would be "my favorite is..or our most popular dish is.." I said I dont eat lamb or pork so her response was "then eat the beef". I wish I could type this with the attitude it was said with. Our 1st dishes came out then. The wings were good (if you screw up deep fried food you have a real problem). The mushrooms we not good - flavorless sauce and an awful texture. She then came by our table and said "this is last call the kitchen is closing now" and then walked away. Again, I would think something like "our kitchen is closing and we are having last call, would you like to order anything else" might be more appropriate. Anyways, long story short - food was OK at best, the service was awful and we will never go back. Save your money and go to 1 of the 100s of other restaurants in the city where you don't feel like a burden on your server.

Probably the best customer service I've ever received! The waiters were kind, original, genuine and attentive. Felt like being with friends rather than being waited upon, loved it!

The food really caught my attention and was highly original. I think it's a bit pricey for what it is--but one cannot deny the level of creativity. The seasoning was odd though, and the actual harmony in flavors was off more often than not. Over-salted in some cases, or served with a sauce that really doesn't compliment the dish... Seemed like a bunch of creative ideas but together without regard to the actual coherence of flavors. I did notice an effort of mixing umami, salty, bitter, acidic and sweet, but most of the dishes were off-balanced. The sauce used in the steak course, for example, really made no sense with the other flavors in the plate, and the kale was way over-salted.

Great experience nonetheless, would recommend.
