Great food- we went for 1/2 price tapas and the cost value could not be beaten! We particularly enjoyed the house focaccia bread, mushroom manchego sandwich, and potato pancakes. The cocktails were boozy and delicious. We'll definitely be back!
Cozy & great vibe. Always enjoyable.
Went for scotch tasting night. Simon was great. Very knowledgeable. We got the "let us feed you" tapas and chicken pot pie. Everything was delicious, staff very friendly. Will go back and highly recommend.
A spectacular presentation of food, spirits, and entertainment...by the far the BEST in Orillia
Recommend some coat hooks on posts throughout room
My girlfriends and I needed a good night out and we were trying to find a nice restaurant in downtown Orillia. We came across Picnic. SO happy to have chosen this spot. The ambience with the Latin music playing, the amazing service and the unique dishes served made the whole experience memorable. Thank you to the owner, our server and the chef!! Bravo!
Absolutely amazing food with a great flavour palette! Super friendly staff, quick service and great drinks!
Amazing service, awesome food, great wine selection, good value!
We went to this 6 table plus bar restaurant for our anniversary. The staff was amazing and seated us at a picnic table. The food was fast but not too fast. We had the fresh bread (OMG!), foie gras, confit duck, and pork belly, followed by cheesecake. Everything was cooked to perfection and the waitstaff explained the dishes to us. They had a fantastic wine and local beer. Everything was perfect. No dress code. Checked vaccines. Staff seemed to enjoy working there.
Highly recommended for a night out.
Our server was knowledgeable. Had great suggestions. Friendly.
Food and drinks is were great!!!!
Will definitely be back.
The service was very good - respectful and knowledgeable as well as good humoured. We s at at the picnic table. Good view of the street and the bar and other customers. Not too loud. We could still hear each other. More than I can say for many other restaurants and coffee shops in Orillia.
The food was good and portions fine. I will go back.
It was an awesome experience, everything was 100%.
Awesome!! It was great
This was our first time at Picnic and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The services was great and the food was also great.
This review is my opinion only. Our server greeted us with enthusiasm and a great smile and made us feel very welcome.
I asked server about Flavours of lake country menu. She was not aware that this was happening currently. She asked staff and had to call her manager to inquire about it. We got that cleared up quickly. We asked if all items menu were include and she indicated they were. When we went to order she then said on no charcuterie is not included. Would have been good to be clear on all of this before ordering.
I ordered the trout tartare but they were out so substituted tune. I ordered this and when I received it I was disappointed. It looked and tasted like canned tuna on toast. The pork belly and the Octopus as well as the oysters were delicious.
Our server was very good and very accommodating.
Again my opinion only but picnic tables as seating are not that comfortable. Serving wine in water glasses is also not my choice . Wine does taste differently when its served in different glasses. Seeing as you are featuring your own label perhaps proper wine glasses would help bring out the flavour of your wine and encourage its consumption. Sparkling wine is not meant to be served in water glasses either.
As I said this is my opinion only. I would recommend this restaurant and if you're comfortable sitting at a picnic table and drinking wine out of water glasses then go for it. I understand the theme of a picnic based on the name but not all things picnic related are always meant to be re created in this manner. Again this is my opinion only.Overall the food was very good!
Although our friend was unable to join us we had an excellent lunch. We’d recommend Picnic to anyone seeking a relaxing, enjoyable Sunday Brunch.
Great food...the description of the meals on the menu does not do justice to the fabulous food that will arrive at your table. Highly recommend the duck.
My friend from Sweden came to visit, and the Tapas style offered a wonderful opportunity to chat and enjoy a lunch leisurely. Each plate was delicious, and the delightful server asked for a rating which I provided… just one thought.. for the two of us the tapas plates were presented a little two quickly, as we thought that 1.5 hours would be ok. I am interested in your thoughts about timing on a Sunday afternoon…
It was our first time at picnic and our experience surpassed our expectations! The food was incredible, so flavourful and well thought out. We had four dishes, the jamon was by far our favourite and the beef croquettes were a close second. The cocktails were delicious and the service was great.
We will definitely be back!
We loved everything except maybe music was a bit too loud for conversation
Loved the food, the service, the love music and the daily events program. Will most certainly return
Not completely my scene, but I could easily see 5star rating for some. Staff was excellent - genuine, friendly and knowledgeable. Food wasn't as creative or authentic as I was expecting, but it was good. Only tried tapas - but it was more like appetizers, didn't resemble Spain, or city tapas bars. The place would be amazing with a patio, but inside was quaint, astheticly nice but a bit cramped with uncomfortable tables and chairs. Very hard to hear, loud ambiance if there's a crowd. Though, for millenials it's pretty cool, little more upscale environment than others, which makes it a nice change. Not the best for a serious conversation or private engagement, but definitely has its place in adding a higher level ambiance to Orillia downtown.
A very enjoyable dining experience. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and ensured that service was high caliber. The food was tasty, well presented and good portion size. The wine list and cocktail offers would readily please most individuals. I will definitely return to this establishment.
Excellent food and excellent service. I loved the innovative, delicious food and the cozy decor. The foie gras was by far my favourite. It was outstanding! We also got some great wine to bring home.
The live music on Wednesday nights really livened up our party. The service was very helpful and friendly-always graciously looking up if there was gluten in any of the various dishes! We loved the food and the whole vibe!
Delicious food and good service. The environment is great
4 or 5th visit. Always wonderful. Delightful staff and delicious food.
Picnic is amazing. Great staff and delicious food. Highly recommend.
The welcome was lovely, as my sister did not have her Covid ID with her we were immediately accommodated outside, table and chairs thoroughly dried and cleaned, very nice! The Mix &Match drink was fantastic, the oysters OK and the Brisket croquettes very good. Thanks!
Nice change for Orillia and great food and service
I am always excited to try out new places and support the local economy. I was very much looking forward to this dining experience. I was also very hungry when I got there so we ordered a few dishes at once. However, I was so disappointed. The food was expensive, not good and the portions very small. The broth for the clams was very bitter. The Kale was gritty and inedible. The potatoes were under seasoned. The other two dishes were edible. I ordered wine and within the first few sips of it a fruit fly fell in it and I had to get a fresh one. The decor was very confusing. There was no dessert choices and the waitress said it was because they wanted to stay within the traditional tapas theme, however the food selections, decor and music did not reflect this. There was live music scheduled to start at 8pm, this did not occur. So we left as we did not want to waste any more money on bad food.
