   The setting is phenomenal overlooking Merida, and the service/drinks were great, but the food was unfortunately bland. The steak says aged but it didn't taste it and was chewy. The ravioli was hardly stuffed, making it underwhelming. There was too much cheese on the carpaccio and lacked depth (needed a crunch element like crispy capers or something). Overall, we really wanted to like this place as it was our honeymoon treat, but we left feeling disappointed.

   I made a special request for my granddaughters 12th birthday —to meet the chef and possibly see the kitchen. She is an aspiring chef. Not only did Executive Chef Rodolfo Barrientos visit our table, he took my granddaughter on a tour of the kitchen explaining every station and the work the cooks were doing as if he had all the time in the world. An aspiring chef’s birthday experience may not relate directly to you and what you are looking for, but it certainly does show the attention to detail in creating a personalized experience by all the staff. It should also go without saying: the food, the ambiance, everything you would want from a fine restaurant was exceptional. I look forward to my next visit.
