Piccolo Mondo Ratings and Reviews
Piccolo Mondo is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolitan area. The menu is very good as is the wine list. The food is consistently delicious and freshly prepared and the service is typically outstanding. You can't go wrong if you love Italian food!
I thought the food was good and the place did serve well for business related dinner. I liked the live piano player which gave a nice setting. I would have liked more attention to drink refills and to have been offered take out boxes. This environment did serve our purpose well.
Excellent menu selections and wine list. You can price point your meal as you like. From many very flavorful Italian dishes to hand cut steaks and seafood. We were there on a Thursday evening and the piano player with saxophone accompiament in the bar - were outstanding as well!
This is my go-to Italian restaurant in Arlington. It is one of the few restaurants where you can have a conversation without shouting across the table. Never had less than an excellent meal. My only disappointment is the so-called Italian bread served with dinner. Hard to find a restaurant that serves Italian bread with the right density in this area.
We had my mother's 75th birthday dinner here with our family. The ambience is excellent with a live piano player in the background. Delicate and romantic décor which would be nice for a dinner date, as well. Our waiter was right on point; not all over us, but available when appropriate. The menu has an excellent variety from traditional pasta dishes to more notable chef inspired dishes. Everything we ate was outstanding. They even served my mother a profiterole dessert with a small candle for her birthday. I can't wait to return to be able to try some of their wine from , what appeared to b, an extensive list.
Sadly, I was quite disappointed with the meal at the restaurant. There had been such great reviews about it, I was really looking forward to the meal.
The salad was nothing special, but the dressing was tasty. The bread was over warmed and overly dry. I had their eggplant Parmesan, a speciality .. I could barely find the eggplant because it had so much breading I assume.. the sauce was overly salty.
Everyone has their preference when it comes to Italian and it was busy, so maybe it's just my taste having grown on Chicago Style Italian. I won't discourage others from going, but I will not be going back.
If you are looking for great Italian food in the DFW area there is none better than Picolo Mondo. The ambiance and food quality are like what you'd find in New York. The bartender Emily is fantastic and the owner Antonio, makes you feel like you're family. Always great specials and awesome service. The live piano music makes it the perfect place to bring a date. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is impeccable. A great wine list really rounds things out. If you're traveling to the area, you'll see what a great hidden gem it is. If you live in the area and don't know about it yet, you have to try it.
It seems as though the quality of food keeps going downhill. Last year, it took them three tries to get my order right and they couldn't, so I had to order something else. On the 13th of this month, the selection of specials was not impressive and the quality of the main courses on the menu had diminished. It's too bad, because we have been loyal customers of theirs for so many years!
Pleasant atmosphere with very attentive servers. Food was very good. The salad with the "Italian Cream" dressing was outstanding. Green beans and potatoes were plain and not anything to rave about, however the veal was quite tasty. Tiramisu was just about the best we ever had and the cream puffs were delicious. Our table was a bit small. Disappointed with clientele attire. This restaurant was elegant enough to warrant a dress code requiring no cut off jean shorts and T-Shirts. Casual to dressy would have been more appropriate. It is disrespectful to the restaurant as well as people who dress nicely. Some of the clientele were dressed for a fast food restaurant. Perhaps the close proximity to an amusement park is responsible for the lack of proper attire.
We had an awesome dinner. We had an extra person join us at the last minute and they were so accommodating! The food was awesome from appetizers to the main course. So many options and everyone liked their meal. the service was so friendly, efficient and professional.
Piccolo is one of our favorite restaurants. In fact we met there over five years ago. Prior to that it was known as a lovely old world place. Great bar. The piano player always knows our favorite songs. The food is always excellent and the service is great. The bartenders know what we want on sight.
