Piccolina Toscana Ratings and Reviews
We had our holiday lunch and were excited to be there. However, the service wasn’t good since we walked in the door. It took over 15 minutes for the waitress to come to the table for drink orders and even longer to place our order and get our food. When we arrived there was one large group and two other small parties- so four tables altogether. The food was great
When we sat down we were told that on Sunday's it was a buffet and a limited menu. Not one to particularly like buffets, I was a little disappointed. We took a look at the buffet and decided it looked pretty decent. I'm so happy we went that way. Everything we had was really good - especially the beet salad and mac & cheese - I went back for seconds on both! The petite desserts and delicious coffee topped off the meal. Very happy and would definitely return.
Had an absolutely fabulous meal last Saturday night. The lobster soup , my starter was beyond delicious and so flavorful . Large pieces of lobster were swimming in a tomato broth instead of the typical white cream soup. For my entree I ordered the trout which was served over small potatoes morsels, peas and mushrooms. It was a fabulous and memorable dish. And I even had dessert which was the apple crostata. Thin sliced apples were nestled in a light and buttery pastry and topped with vanilla ice cream. Dessert was well worth the calories
Head to Toscana for your next restaurant dinner. You will be glad you did
Where do you start? The glasses were dirty and broken, the drinks were made incorrectly, the furniture was shredded and stained. The Caesar salad was wilted and brown. The raviolis were tough. The waiter disappeared half-way through the meal. We had to ask for the check multiple times. A very poor experience overall for what used to be a great restaurant.
If you're going to be an Italian restaurant then you need to serve the classics. The menu is way too limited. Food was good but should be outstanding for how limited the menu is. The service was very attentive without be annoying. Would have given a higher score if the menu was better.
Run down since our last visit. The seat coverings were peeling off and unsightly. The food was below expectations and past visits. Nothing special and overpriced. Gone are the veal specials and fresh vegetables. The server was pleasant and tried her best but the place is not what it used to be.
This was a disappointing visit for several reasons. The place was empty during the entire time we were there - two other tables plus us. The banquette we sat in was in terrible condition. The cushion was all cut up - not at all what one would expect at Toscana. We were a party of 5 and our server brought us 3 breadsticks and stated that's all they had and no more was baking. The meal itself was very good - typical Toscana fare. We asked for a dessert menu and received two different menus. When our main server came back she explained they do not offer dessert during lunch but we could stop by Toscana to Go and pick up something there. Something tells me the lunch business at Toscana has dropped significantly which is sad to see. Interestingly we ate lunch at Pizza by Elizabeth the following day and the place was full. And they had dessert!
Excellent Sunday brunch. The cold salads, platter of charcuterie, and soup were delicious and in perfect condition. The beet salad was a particular favorite along with the lobster soup. The entree of pasta with seafood was light, delicate, and cooked perfectly. The sauce was not overpowering - it allowed the pasta to shine. Desserts were delicious, and the hazelnut and chocolate mousse in a little chocolate cup was a particular highlight. Definitely highly recommend.
Service was very good. Only slight down note was towards the end of our meal when a large party arrived to set up for a baby shower during the normally scheduled brunch. All servers and staff shifted to set up activities, leaving those already dining ignored for about 15 minutes.
Great dinner as always - food is fabulous- with family. Need to offer half portions on the menu. Waiter told us after the meal . Can upgrade the menus as well. They are so dingy it makes the place seem to not care they have had the same menu forever . While I love the food just the act of a clean menu would be nice. Even dessert menu.
Once again, Toscana's turned a normal brunch date until a lovely encounter for two people to get to know each other. It was a quite , romantic table , tucked into the corner. The food was amazing and constantly distracted us from our conversation. Service and excellent and very attentive, calming my nerves while waiting in anticipation for her arrival. If there is a dinner date in our future, I know where to bring her. Cheers!
Seating could be done in a less "linear" fashion -in the evening we visited the restaurant, seating was offered only in two rows at either end of the facility, forcing patrons to crowd against each other while a large section of the facility was empty in the middle. Distributing patrons better throughout the facility would give the restaurant a more pleasant ambiance. Also, some kind of background music would make the experience more pleasant (all we could hear was kitchen noises and staff conversations).
2 of us had the di Parma pizza and 2 of us had a pasta dish. The pizza had so much Arabella on it I couldn't see anything else in the pizza. Also it was extremely salty - I'm sure it was from the prosciutto but was overwhelmingly salty.
The pasta dish was white food in a white bowl. There was supposed to be vegetables in it but couldn't see any. Bland looking, bland tasting.
Service was fine. She was very attentive.
Not sure would return.....
I absolutely love this place! The food is a little more on the expensive side but it is SO worth it. The lobster risotto is to dieeee for. The servers are great too-always checking up on you and keeping your water filled. We ended up getting the same server as the first time we went and he remembered us which was awesome. Oh and if you're looking for a good drink they do not disappoint, especially if you like your drinks a little stronger. :) will definitely be going back again soon!
I found my recent trip disappointing. I've had several meals there in the past. The food was very "meh" especially for the price. Had to send a drink back when it was prepared in a completely different way than the first round. Hope this isn't a trend and just a fluke!
Sunday brunch on Father's Day. White tablecloths, nice buffet with salads, eggs, cheese, desserts. Best was the egg casserole, pesto pasta. Not best was the ravioli or large tortellini with cream sauce and ? Servers could use training. My dirty silverware was dropped off my plate and at my place when I went to get dessert. A clean, not eggy, fork and knife would be appropriate. Could not hail server and should have nabbed clean from next table. There was something spilled under the table on the floor that was slick. It was cleaned when reported. We like weekday lunch there better with table service. It's a nice place with potentially good menu and food. We like to go there when making a wine buying visit next door at Moore Brothers.
We have dined here many times over many years. It has evolved from dressy high end to comfortable atmosphere. Food and service have always been excellent. Very good pasta and authentic Italian dishes with other quality entrees as well. Great choices of wines and beer. Menu features the best dishes that have carried them over time; plus there's always something new to tease the appetite. We live an hour away and make a point of dining here any time we're in the area.
