Piccola Cucina Osteria - Spring St.
Friendly service with a buzzy atmosphere, all in a typical Italian restaurant setting. It is matched by home cooking like you would expect to eat in Italy which is one of the keys to the success of the restaurant.
Great care is taken by the chef in choosing the freshest ingredients according to season.
Other two Piccola cucina locations are:
Piccola cucina Estiatorio ( 75 Thompson street )
Piccola Cucina Enoteca ( 184 Prince Street )
Friday/Saturday : 11.30am - 12.00am
Super food and the staff were friendly.
Thank you. A favorite place of ours to eat.
The venue is very small and the tables are very close together, this is not a restaurant for intimacy. The food is traditional Italian served in small pots and very well prepared. Since the restaurant is so small the service is excellent, there is no way for a server to ignore or forget you.
My husband and I went here on Tuesday early evening for our 36th wedding anniversary. We choose this restaurant for two reasons 1) it was close to where he worked and 2) because the menu sounded really interested and full of things we would enjoy. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in the food and in the setting. It is too crowded for all the tables that they had. It was nearly impossible to get in and out of our seats. We ordered the rolled swordfish to share as an appetizer. It was tasty and I would recommend this dish. We both ordered variations of a pasta dish with scampi/shrimp and though the flavor was good we did not like that there was only one shrimp in the shell so retrieving any meat was a joke. Our dishes were served in the pots they were cooked in, not my idea of classy or appropriate at all. We will not be back to this restaurant any time soon. :-(
We had so much fun at this restaurant. And the food was fabulous.
Porzioni giuste ottima qualità
What a fantastic place! Great food and service, fun and energetic atmosphere and did I mention great food?
Excellent restaurant and food, we will definitely be back
Incredible food, authentic Italian cuisine with a great experience
Food nowhere near as good as would have thought from reviews. Tables very cramped. Too busy for amount of waiters so waiting along time for starters had the seafood spaghetti.
Great little place, awesome authentic food, great wine, great service. Hearty portion sizes. Great bang for your buck -- very reasonably priced for the quality of the food!
Wonderful homemade pasta! Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend
Great spot in SoHo for authentic Italian in a great, cozy setting. Service was super friendly and food (for lunch) was great and a really good value.
Poor service as we waited for over 30 min while the waiter catered to the locals first. I get space in New York is at a premium but our table was on top of the other table. Food was good but very expensive.
Absolutely delicious food.. a bit cozy and small but okay if you are not a huge person
We were visiting form the UK. The restaurant was amazing, the staff very friendly and the food was absolutely superb. I am allergic to wheat and gluten and to say they were accommodating was an understatement. I was told to pick whatever I wanted and they would make it for me, it was so refreshing not to have to accept a second or third choice.
Piccola Cucina Osteria was excellent in terms of food but aside from that it was quite a stressful dining experience. The restaurant is tiny but very busy, which, for a Sunday evening, was a good sign. Unfortunately, being so small, it means you're very close to the people next to you and the staff want you done as soon as possible to free up the table. If the food hadn't been some of the best pasta I'd had outside of Italy, I wouldn't be recommending it! If you're aware that it'll be a quick affair - we were in and out in 45 mins - and that it'll be loud, cramped and dark, then it's fine, the food more than makes up for it.
My daughter and I celebrated her birthday here this past weekend. LOVED being there to enjoy wonderful food, cozy atmosphere and great service. We will be back! Thank you!
This place is wonderful for southern Italian food. I loved the calamari appetizer and sea bass main. My husband was equally fond of the meatball appetizer and pasta bolognese. It's really small and cramped, but they figure out how to make it work. I would go here every time I visit the city, if I could. Just go. You'll be happy you did.
Food was delicious. Great little spot.
Very small restaurant much smaller than I thought it was, loud, not easy to have a conversation, but the food and service is great...not sure if I would go back, may try estriatoria which is a bigger place
Small, borderline claustrophobic dining experience, turned into something unique and special. Tables are small and close to each other, but small price to pay for excellent food. A couple dining near us asked for reservations the following night which prompted my dinner guest to contemplate asking for the same. Highly recommend dining here.
Every other year my wife and I meet an old friend in NYC after Thanksgiving. Two years ago we all raved about this restaurant, including the intimate atmosphere, great staff, and amazing good pasta for a very fair price. All remains the same, except the pasta. All three of us were disappointed. Overly salty- two of us actually sent our dinners back. The dishes lacked interest and might even be described as boring. A new chef, perhaps? We all agreed that we will look elsewhere on our next visit.
Super fantastic experience
I booked this reservation in hopes of enjoying good, authentic Italian food, and I got what I hoped for! The place was small. Tables were extremely close together, but the food is amazing as well as the service. I consider it a restaurant to try, especially if you're in the mood for Italian!
Fantastic food, really cozy restaurant. Great value, with friendly and attentive staff.
Incredible food and wine. The staff is wonderful. Tiny space which was extremely dark. Could not see menu, food and people much at all.
A great little truly Italian place - make sure to make a reservation as scores of people were refused at the door. It is very tiny and popular! Be ready to compromise on your personal space as you squeeze in to the few tables with fellow Italians - you know the place is good when it attracts so many people seeking their home cuisine. The appetizers were fantastic - though the main dish is such a portion that you will regret not leaving enough space in your tummy. Good deals for lunch as well, getting discounts against the evening menu. Fully recommended!
I have been here quite a few times, and I just can't say enough about this place. The food, the people, everything about it is just wonderful. I've brought friends and family here, each one raves and raves. This time it was for my birthday. They treated me like a queen. I'm so grateful for the entire staff for making my birthday so very special.
Truly outstanding food! Great service and fantastic menu selections.
Great food and service. Some of the best pasta we have had in recent years.
This excellent Italian restaurant is a cozy intimate neighborhood like setting with exceptionally delicious food that was truly authentic. The pasta and risotto dishes were outstanding right down to the unique presentation. This is a cozy, intimate place that made you feel like you were in an Italian grandmother's kitchen with service to match. We had 14 in our party and made the reservation a month in advance -- everyone raved about thier meal and this place. This is on our list of can't miss places. We are looking forward to going again next time we are in NYC.
Very busy for Thanksgiving but the menu was top-notch as always. Tables are tight but everyone is so enthused about the outstanding dishes that it even provokes conversation between tables! The home-made pasta dishes and seafood main courses are exceptional. Very interesting wine list.
The appetizers were excellent. The pasta dishes seemed to have the same tomato sauce for all the ones that we ordered, so had to change it up a bit.
The all experience was awful. We dined at 196 Spring Street and it really is small. We had to move our chairs and table every time to let other customers get in their seats. The food was bad. My boyfriend ordered a steak and it was raw and still frozen. We both got sick after. We appreciated the fact that they offered us the dinner but we definitely won’t go back. And since I am italian I felt really bad about complaining but I had to.
Everyone was really friendly and the food was outstanding
Always a fantastic meal. Easy going with phenomenal cuisine. Wonderful atmosphere with congenial staff. Cozy and enjoyable.
