Picasso's Tapas - San Jose
Very nice experience, the food was good and the service aswell.
Muy bueno todo
Authentic taps foods. Do not get the chocolate cake. It is not spanish so maybe that is why it was the only disappointing item on the menu. The flan is a much better desert
The food was ok. Appetizers were better than the main dish. I would say it better than your commercialized places (Cheese Cake Factory, BJs, etc) but it definitely not Moms and Pops places and/or a unique spot to dine, that is for sure. Ambience was good if you like a city like feel. Customer service was good and the place was clean. I would not recommend this place to a friend because price to value just doesn’t make much sense. There are far many more places with similar feel and level of customer service but much better quality of food.
Excellent. Food was outstanding, especially the chorizo. Service was fast and friendly. They sat us right away even though we got there way ahead of our reservation time. Definitely made my wife and I very happy, and made the night complete. Picasso’s set the bar high for all other restaurants that we’ve tried.
Horrible service, amazing food. 4th dish didn’t come for 40 mins after the first three dishes arrived. 4th dish came and it was lukewarm, as in it had been sitting for 10-15 mins.
Fun vibe. The waiter was helpful and knew how to help our group of 8 pick a combo for everyone.
Absolutely delicious tapas. I felt like I was in Spain.
Picasso’s Paella Negra is the best most authentic Squid Ink Paella I have ever had. Last night’s dinner was especially vibrant with all our favorite dishes/tapas coming to us on a regular basis allowing us time to savor each dish. We were even treated with an impromptu dance by the owner and his wife. One of our “go to” favorite places.
Very friendly staff, inviting, and good food. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and plan to return for sure.
Great experience and the food was delicious! Would definitely return.
Went to Picasso's for the first time for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. Our overall experience was satisfying mainly because of the consistently high quality and authenticity of the food. We ordered a large number of cold and hot tapas, including two of the daily specials. Everything tasted just right and the portions were quite reasonable, particularly considering the price.
The main downside for us was the noise. This is a small dining room with hard surfaces all around. The cacophony of general dinner conversation and of the cackling, jolly women slurping glasses of sangria at the neighboring table was augmented by a wall-mounted speaker blasting bull-fighting music. Fortunately, the waitress turned this down eventually, after customer complaints, but it made for a distracting and uncomfortable dining experience.
The wait staff were friendly but seemed a bit over-stretched when the restaurant filled up.
Going to Picasso's on a week night might be the best option. It is worth a visit for sure if you're in the mood for authentic, flavorful Spanish food.
Tortilla de patata was cooked with boiled potatoes instead of fried. Albóndigas (meat balls) were bland and dry. The pinchos morunos were not the typical skewers that you’d expect and the added pickled onions are not part of the traditional Spanish tapa recipe. Awesome staff, but poor food.
Our tapas tasted great and the service was efficient. We came early so the place was quiet. Then later after other tables filled and a corner had a singer and accompanist performing the noise level got a bit too much. Thankfully we were finished with our meal by then.
Every taps plate was delicious and nicely presented.
Good for groups sharing a wide variety of tapas.
We got the shrimp and grits. It was amazing. This was my first time and I will definitely be going back. Service was great and the food that I saw being brought to nearby tables looked amazing. There is so much there I want to try.
Quaint, clean, excellent customer service, great place for a date.
Ordered tapas and they were delicious! Looking forward to trying the paella next time. Service was also great! Would definitely recommend this place.
Tuesday through Thursday are good times to visit. We went in on Saturday and the place was packed and super loud. Looking forward to going back in a slower time! It gets great reviews and looks like it would be very nice!
My new favorite tapas place. We tried 8 dishes. Everything was excellent. Tasty sangria. Definitely worth the ~$50 per person for food and drinks. I want to go back next weekend until I try everything on the menu.
Ed and his staff are wonderful people. Great food and even better sangria
The owner is great!! Fun atmosphere, yummy food and convenient location! Prelude to a Spain vacation. Would definitely come back.
GREAT food, really a find and perfect for before a Sharks game
Initial service was slow but the food arrived quickly.
Excellent food and we eat a lot of Spanish meals and cook quite a bit of Spanish food at home. Service was good on this busy night but a touch on the slow side. Noise level was very high as there are hard surfaces reflecting and the next table was festive. Ambiance is good but not fancy. We needed to tilt the candle to read the menu. Fun place, romantic with an adventurous date.
The restaurant was cute and welcoming. There was only one other party when we arrived. We thought there would be something wrong with the food, but we were pleasantly surprised. We look forward to dining there again. We had five different tapas and enjoyed all of them. We plan on getting the piatta next time.
A downtown gem. Absolutely love this place. Enjoy all the tapas and the sangria. Always friendly service.
I just came back from Spain and unfortunately I was not impressed with the food here. Portions were small and overpriced. The restaurant location is good. I was also disappointment to see I was taxed on tip (they automatically charged the tip because we were a party of 6).
Overly priced for the quality and quantity. $140 dinner for 4. Next time I'll hit Original Joe's for better food. The croquetas were the best appetizer dish.
We went to Picasso's a couple of weekends ago and had a very nice time. Again, the Paella Valenciana was favorful and the Tapas de gambas with alioli and coquettas were wonderful! House wine was good! We'll go back to this place again!
Small, under staffed, over priced for tapas & no Spanish flavors! Disappointing!
If you know Tapas and you know Spain, then you want Picasso's. The owner and the working family are fantastic. Really great people. The kind of folks you want to support. That value for Tapas is never really great, but you'll be fun and full for two for under $100. On a busy night it is loud and fun. If the place was empty, it needs some work.
Food was so salty we could finish eating them.
On the expensive side, but food is really tasty. We would go there again.
I was not impressed by this restaurant. They did not update Open Table when I arrived so was identified as a no show. The food was okay, but nothing spectacular. Their wine list was limited. There are much better tapas in the Bay Area.
Excellent food and service. The lighting was a bit harsh, but other than that, great spot for authentic Spanish cuisine.
Server was rude. Food took 45 minutes to come. Never told us Paella takes that long. Treated us as if we should have known.
Open Table permitted me to make a reservation on a day that Piccasso's was closed. The owner personally called me to apologize and let me know they were closed. Still being in the area, we made our next reservation for the first open date, the owner greeted us and again apologized even though the mix up was out of his control. We sincerely thank you for your concern and personal attention.
Now for the food, this is one of our favorite restaurants when we're in San Jose. The tapas are excellent, the paella was wonderful.
Noisy and overpriced. We waited half an hour for a table despite a reservation. Waiter lost part of our order — the MAIN part!!! That was ok— we were happy to forego it.
Owner is a wonderful, friendly, creative person, always present in his restaurant. Food is delicious. Restaurant is small and colorful.
Great array of tapas! Very quick preparation and service. Great place to enjoy a long conversation and great food!
