About Piazza Pellegrini
Serving up delicious Italian fare, Piazza Pellegrini has something for just about everyone. The pasta arrabbiata is a particular favorite with diners, but many also love the authentic Italian pizzas served. There are plenty of options for dessert Piazza Pellegrini as well, including the ever-popular crostata di mele topped with vanilla gelato.
Guests are welcome to dine in the dining room, but there is also an outdoor patio area with heat lamps to make dining comfortable for most of the year. Make sure to sample a glass or two from Piazza Pellegrini's extensive wine list, which includes authentic Italian vintages.

Piazza Pellegrini Ratings and Reviews
There is nothing more pleasing and satisfying then have a dining experience where both the food and the service are top notch. This restaurant makes you feel welcomed from the second you hit the door, throughout dinner and even on the way out. There are hundreds of places on can chose to dine but when you hit a home run like Piazza Pellegrini it makes for a fun and memorable evening.
Our family truly enjoyed our first experience here. The service was superb, the food was delicious! Very Authentic Italian. We asked for some substitutes on the menu and our waiter was happy to oblige our needs.
Bread was fresh, great olive oil, loved my award winning pasta with meatballs and pancetta! My husband had the Petrale Sole, also a hit! We shared a sausage/mushroom pizza and a caprese salad which were very good as well.
We definitely plan to return. Don't miss out!
We went here for lunch with friends who were visiting San Francisco. This was a great North Beach find where the food was delicious and the ambiance was just right for enjoying a nice midday meal. The menu offered many nice Italian selections and the service was attentive and friendly. Prices were reasonable for San Francisco and we were delighted to find out there was restaurant parking. If you want a pleasant, relaxing meal and you like good Italian cooking then I recommend you try Piazza Pellegrini.
This was the worst service experience I have ever had at a restaurant. There are so many issues from the fact they were out of bread to the waiter throwing away my friends' dish that she had asked to be boxed up then agressively rubbing her arms and telling her to "just relax" when she tried to figure out where her food was that to say this was a disappointing experience would be an understatement
Have had dinner at Pizaaz twice now and both times we have enjoyed it. We arrived early for our reservation and grabbed a table by the window. It's nice to people watch . The place can get very warm and if you hit the unusual warm day in SF you might find it too warm, which was the case for us. But the food was very tasty. Had to ask for parmesan cheese (which was a little annoying because the place was empty). But all in all a good dinner. Bill for 3 was $116 which included one margharita pizza, chicken dish special, and Fettuccine Alfredo con Pollo. Five glasses of wine.
We ate early on the 4th of July - we were visiting San Francisco and found the restaurant on Open Table. It was an easy walk but more of a "neighborhood" spot and away from the crowds. Service was excellent. food was delicious and everyone in our family loved it. The Tiramisu was a huge hit! The staff was so friendly and made us feel very welcome.
This was a random find on Opentable and I was very happy with everything. The food was extremely delicious and everyone who served us was so welcoming. We didn't feel bombarded from the staff and they never let us be without water or food for very long. Amazing little place in North Beach to relax and have some great food! I will definitely be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening out at piazza pelligrini before a show at bimbos. One couple in our group was a little late but we were never rushed or felt pushed to start ordering. The food was great and we plan to return and bring more friends with us.
The food was very good, the service and ambiance fantastic. The family that runs this is exceptionally nice and accommodating. We loved our experience in "little Italy" and after going to several restaurants over our 3 day weekend in the city, this became our favorite find.
We have eaten here on Christmas Day 4 out of the last 5 years in San Francisco. We always make a reservation to be sure of having a table. This year we sat outside under the heaters, and though the table was small, it was still a fun dining experience. The food is consistently good, and the wait staff is courteous even though they are crazy busy and working on a holiday! Plus, the people watching is great when you are seated outdoors.
We love Pellegrini's. The staff is so friendly, helpful, offer great service. The restaurant is warm and welcoming, and the food is ALWAYS excellent! I would recommend Pellegrini's for any event (we even had our wedding reception there!).
Enjoy!!! ... you can count on it!
It wasn't a traditional Thanksgiving meal, but it was an excellent one. We started with a Caesar salad, which was flavorful without too much dressing (which we prefer). The penne pasta alla Puttanesca was a hit for my wife, who already wants to go back and have it again. I enjoyed the chicken picatta. Service was solid. Great location and a great meal. Our kids loved it, too...
This authentic Italian restaurant has excellent food, a manageable menu, and a solid wine list. I found it a little strange that the calzone, which is listed as a sausage calzone, also randomly has mushrooms in it, but the staff was effusively attentive and offered a re-fire.
We were only in San Francisco for 3 days and we had dinner there twice. It was a favorite new find. Roasted chicken was great as was the pasta. Food and service were outstanding. We did not eat outside it was always full. Would recommend to anyone visiting.
Two of us ordered the spaghetti with clams which was VERY disappointing; very few clams, very watery, insipid sauce. The
spaghetti with meatballs was equally ordinary. We all remembered the food to be better. Perhaps they have a new chef.
Will not likely be back.
We had a guest in town with dietary restrictions. We provided her with several options for an Italian dinner and she chose Piazza Pellegrini. She picked the Cappellini con Pomodorini and was very pleased with her meal. Success! My husband had the special Fettucine with salmon and argula. I had the Dungeness Crab homemade ravioli. Both our dinners lacked seasoning and were quite bland. I had expected lump crab in the ravioli but it appeared to be chopped, mixed with a binder and was dry. The deserts: Gelati e Sorbetti, Tiramisu and the Torta Caprese (flourless chocolate cake) were all standouts. The Pellegrini may be good a good bet if you need to accommodate a wide range of tastes, but not if you prefer a more flavorful meal.
The food was great. The service good as well. Great location. My wife and I had scouted a place for a romantic dinner and made a reservation on Open Table. We then went by the place around 2pm and asked if we could have a table by the window for the evening. We were told they would hold it for us. We arrived 15 minutes early an watched then give our table to two others. I asked and was told "that couple took your table". I replied no, you gave that couple our table. No other tables for two were available so we waited at the bar. After 45 minutes they offered a large table for 8 in the middle of the place but said we would have to share with other couples. The food was good, the service good, but they did not honor our reservation.
I was looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in North Beach and found it! The wait staff was friendly and helpful in getting food out quickly for my kids! My husband and I shared a delicious farfale with smoked salmon pasta. Both of my kids enjoyed a smaller portion of pasta with arrabiata sauce! All was so good. I felt like I was in Italy!!! I would definitely eat their again!
We selected this restaurant for a special occasion/romantic dinner, based on the reviews, and nothing was special about this restaurant.
The bottle of wine we selected was two years older than the vintage listed on the menu; the bread was hard, the olive oil tasted off; and the dinners were overpriced for the quality and quantity of food you should receive at a North Beach Italian restaurant.
It was pretty disappointing and we would not recommend this restaurant.
