Piazza D'Angelo Ratings and Reviews
I met old friends there for a reunion. Made a reservation for the upper part of the dining room as It is quieter. We were delighted with the lunch special menu where we could have a great 2-course meal for $14.95. The food was very good and our waiter didn’t rush us as we had so much to talk about.
We wanted dinner before going to a movie and it was great for that. We both had a salad and the smaller portion of a pasta dish. Our waitress was very efficient and friendly. The olive oil dipping sauce that comes with bread is fabulous! I would go back for that alone! We also each had a glass of the zinfandel and were in and out in plenty of time to make our show.
Everything at d'Angelos is good, better and best; the restaurant has evolved and even gotten better over the years. This event was your Truffle dinner.... crowded, busy, etc... why not.... this was special. We sat out in the glass enclosed front dining area and it wasn't noisy at all!!
Very nice evening! Thank you.
The food was outstanding. A "hopping" place. It was moderately loud, but that was from all the conversation and liveliness that was around. There were many kids in the restaurant and with all the chatter, the kids could also talk, color and enjoy a great meal.
Piazza D'Angelo provided the perfect spot for a reunion of old friends and family. The food was GREAT, our server was FANTASTIC, and yes, do not hesitate to book this very easy-going, amiable-yet-elegant spot for a fine dining experience with you and your loved ones!
Service wS very good. It we were there pretty early for dinner. Bread and oil/tapenade was wonderful. Very nice menu but all 3 of us were disappointed with our main courses. They were. Wet well presented but we're just plain bland. Not much flavor at all. Risotto was rather tasteless. The pastas were tasteless as well. Very disappointing.
This restaurant is apparently now under new management. Had been there before with a small group, and we were not impressed. But friend and I decided to give it another try for dinner.
The food was reasonably good, as were the drinks. But the service was slow and the place was so noisy we had to continually shout at each other.
We were not asked, but were taken out to a covered patio, I made a reservation to sit in the main dining room. I didn't say anything but next time I go there , I will refuse to sit outside the covered patio.. It got cold, they turned one heater on which was not working and I complained that i smelled gas and was given the "look.. I will check with the manager and I will get back to you" treatment.. it turned out the heater was not working and they shut it off. My meal was tasteless and awful, four almost raw stuffed raviolis that I ate because we were going to the Movies and the kitchen was so busy I didn't want to send them back. My first for the restaurant.
Other than, I will go back for the bread and the dip.
It is so wonderful that they offer an entire gluten-free menu on their menu! The best seating is outside seating. The inside seating can lack ambiance, as the interior design looks quite dated. If you were going to sit inside, request a window seat for sure. The service was excellent. They were attentive and accommodating. The soup of the day was a leak soup that was fantastic. The risotto was good but could use a little extra seasoning. But all in all it was a very positive experience. They just need to update the interior decor!
We were hoping to find a restaurant with air conditioning, as temps in Marin had been soaring over 100 degrees for several days in a row. We had invited friends to our house for dinner, but decided to go out since we did not have air conditioning in our home. We should have called in advance, as it turned out, there was no air conditioning. :( It was too hot. My bad.
Food and service always good, always dependable. Great location in downtown Mill Valley makes it convenient for after the movies or prior to enjoying the entertainment at the Sweetwater. The salad was very fresh, as were all the other food items. One or both of the owners are always on the premises and have been great contributors to the community for many years.
We really expect more from an upscale Marin restuarant...food was mediocre...lettuce was not the "little gem" that was on the menu, but rather, large and somewhat bitter romaine...and my husband's dish was served cold. My vongole was good and I ate the small portion. However, bar service was very slow...and we took exception to the extra charges affixed to an "up" martini. I know you can do better...and hope to return when you do!
Best Italian in Mill Valley ( Marin)
Cousin has similar in S F Tratoria di Vitterio
Excellent southern Italian influence on the American Taste
Portions Just right. Warm and Friendly wine list and cocktails
Desserts . Start with them . Have dinner if still hungry
Our guests were late for lunch, with heavy traffic coming over the bridge. The hostess was very accommodating though the restaurant was practically empty. The brunch menu was still available at 2 PM which gave us many more options. Service was pretty good The waiter had to be reminded to bring us something we asked for, but he did apologize.
The best part about the service was that we were not rushed at all, which was nice since we met friends we haven't seen in a while and had a lot of catching up to do. It was a good meeting point, for us coming from the North bay and for friends coming from the south ( except for the bridge traffic).
Server was superb friendly, smiling, efficient, and professional. The food was delicious with great menu choices for all family members. The dining experience was relaxing and romantic. I would love to return as there are more menu items I would like to share. portions are large and you could share with your spouse or dining partner. It is mid range in price and such a great meal.
This is one of my favorite places to eat but the kitchen was really slow this night. We had to ask for our check when our entry was brought to our table and one of us ordered a pizza and it came about 7 minutes after our Risoto. She got to eat one pizza before we had to leave.
Ordered 2 appetizers both had artichokes, they were so tough, rendered them inedible. Food otherwise tasty. Good bread, could have been warmed a bit.
As we dined on a evening weekday, noise level was ok. Friday and weekends are quite noisy, and need reservation. A mill valley institution for many years. Have eaten there many times over he years.
We had a mini reunion of sorts with family from Oregon and Hawaii. Piazza D'Angelo gave us our own dining room (we had 11 people) and it was perfect!! Granted it was a Thursday night, but they did not rush us at all and we had ample time to catch up and reminece with each other before we had to go. Everyone had a lovely time and enjoyed the food and company immensely. Definitely a gem in Mill Valley.
I have been here several times and always enjoy the food and casual atmosphere. We had an early dinner reservation for six people and the entrée that three of us ordered was already sold out; and we didn't find out until after we had ordered. That was unfortunate since the waiter didn't know in advance to select something else.
But otherwise, the food was very good. We especially loved the burrata appetizer with tomatoes.
