Piatti - Seattle Ratings and Reviews
We had a couple of small problems with a couple of dishes (too spicy, foreign object) our dishes were whisked away and replaced with no problems at all. Our server was experienced, polite and very personable. Have been here before and definitely will go back to Piatti's again
I was very disappointed by Piatti's this last time. The Caesar salad dressing was bland and their signature Chop salad was hardly chopped. The dressing was like milk and the portions of all the other things were minimal. The Putanesca was bitter. The portions were much smaller than they should have been for the price. Very surprisingly bad.
They have been so good in the past, I'll give them one more try, but if things aren't better, I'll never be back.
Great food and terrific service! It's also in a convenient location while one is shopping in University Village. I had the meatball dish (spaghetti) with pinot gris, while my partner had butternut squash ravioli with merlot. Great wine. The atmosphere was very cozy and comfortable. Our only issue was that they seated up in an area where large groups would normally be cordoned off. It's a separate room, but wide open to the main dining room. The only other party in there was a large group of 12 or more, with 4 young children. The kids were not being mischievous, but were making a noticeable commotion opening Christmas presents and running back and forth to the restroom. At one point the 3 boys had locked themselves in the toilet stalls for fun, not allowing use by anyone else. The restaurant staff were oblivious to this activity, despite us pointing it out. So we just ate and left without dessert or lingering. We didn't understand why we were seated in that area with the main dining room more than half-empty.
Piatti is always my first choice at the University Village. Food is great, service outstanding, and it's relatively quiet compared to its nearby competitors. I have my favorite dishes and they are consistently excellent.
It's rare to find a restaurant that becomes a 'go-to' favorite these days with so many options, but Piatti remains at the top of my list.
We had a great dinner there last summer but couldn't believe how mediocre it was this time. And to pay almost $10 for a pathetic little plate of chopped lettuce, cranberries and hazelnuts was ridiculous. The pasta was overcooked but tasted okay-tho also overpriced. I was really disappointed this time and won't go back.
Great neighborhood spot in the University Village where you can meet with friends for a quick bite - our waiter was wonderful, we each just had a bowl of soup and a salad (5 ladies), spending very little $$ and he was still very attentive yet not overly so. We have always enjoyed Piatti - and by the way the food is very good. You simply can't go wrong here, they know what they are doing!! Thanks for being there, Piatti.
Easy to get in. Reliable food. Not great, but better than ‘meh’. Drink/wine menu are better than they have to be, and the bucatini is nice and spicy. The focaccia set down on the table on arrival with balsamic/olive oil has been a classic for decades and is still good.
Amazing food, service and ambience. We had a late evening dinner reservation for a large party, in celebration of a good friend’s birthday. Everything exceeded expectations. Our server was wonderful, and despite the fact that we were probably the last people in the place essentially closing it down, never once did were we ever made to feel rushed, which defines a class act! Special place — recommend most strongly on every front!
A great place to meet with friends or family to enjoy great conversation and fabulous food. We tried the Octupus which our waitress recommended and it was every bit as great. I commute by ferry from West of Seatte and Piatti has been a my favorite place to meet friends for over ten years.
Our son is a freshman at UW. This is a great restaurant within walking distance of campus. I really enjoyed my grilled veggie sandwich. The arancini we're delicious...it's hard to find good ones at a restaurant.
Thanks for the birthday dessert. It, too, was delicious.
Piatti is surprisingly good for a restaurant in a mall ... actually worth going there just for dinner. I had the special risotto, which was fabulous. The on-tap wine selection is excellent and local. The friends I was with were very pleased with their selections — clams, and penne. And we all loved the dessert, although the chocolate mousse serving was way too small. It was about a tablespoon. The cheesecake was amazing.
I wouldn't say this is authentic Italian, but it is a wonderful American take on Italian food, and very well served.
We were a party of 7; 2 couples and 3 college age young women. Piatti was very busy on a Friday night. Service was quite good; especially as we spent more than 3 hours at dinner. All of the entrees and side dishes were excellent. Our party commented several times about the great tastes.
I would recommend Piatti (and will) to friends and family in the Seattle area. It was a very good experience.
I used to love Piatti - for the type of restaurant it was, I had some surprisingly good meals. Not so anymore. Their food is typical chain restaurant food. This time I had a chicken caesar, and the chicken was burned (had an acrid smell) and dry. Our server was similarly uninspired - only came to inquire about my meal when I was down to my last two leaves of lettuce. My dining companion had spilled some tomato and soft cheese on the table, but even though we had dessert, the server didn't wipe the table. Really just phoning it in. I'll go back, but only because it's convenient and easy to park. I used to actually go for the food!
Granddaughters' birthday celebration chosen to be a bit fancy. All the meals were up to standards. Even though it was Seattle Restaurant, week I chose the octopus appetizer (not one of the special menu choices) - not disappointed it was as good as it always is.
Met up with a friend and we both enjoyed the very reasonably priced lunch special. My compliments to the chef for being creative with roasted Brussel sprouts on a bed of butternut squash puree, topped with bacon and tomato jam! Amazing. The waiter was pleasant and unobtrusive. I'll be back.
Hadn't had lunch at Piatti in awhile and was disappointed to find the previously varied menu reduced to soup/salad/sandwich fare, everything a la carte (including bread, olive oil or butter, and milk for chai tea), and an enlarged bar occupying center stage. No surprise, prices had not been reduced in line with reductions in quality of the experience across the board.
The server was fine. We tipped him 20% for his pleasant manner and efficiency, not for the value of the meal.
Piatti had okay food. Wasn't something special, definitely not something I'd order again for that price. Service was pretty good, and overall, I enjoyed my experience there. I just wouldn't go back again, when there are hundreds of other Italian restaurants with a similar menu but better quality and better tasting food.
Piatti is one of our favorite places to dine. Parking is very easy in a nearby garage and it is free. The food is very good. If you dine outside and get cool, they provide soft blankets to wrap yourself with, a very nice touch. Sitting outside provides great people watching!
