We had a really great dinner at Piatti. For appetizers we tried the fried calamari (which had fried onion slivers too) and the goat cheese with flatbread and tomato jam, and both were excellent. For entrees we both had the special bucatini with lobster in a spicy tomato sauce. It was perfect -- just the right amount of spiciness in a sauce with chunks of lobster and tomato. We hope it will be on the menu next time we visit Piatti.

We went to Piatti for Valentine's day. Was an anniversary of sorts. We had been there about 20 years ago, but for whatever reason, hadn't been back. The room where we were seated was well appointed, high ceiling, with a fireplace that I wish we had been able to sit in front of for our meal. So despite the nice ambiance, we were cold. The wait staff was knowledgeable, the bread was served warm with olive oil. The lobster bisque was delicious, and felt good (did I mention the room was cold?), but was pretty filling. My Mahi Mahi was very nicely done, with crispy skin, and herbs to bring out the flavor. My wife's pork chop was cooked a little rare, as requested, and was reportedly delicious. The Brussel's sprouts that accompanied my entree were unfortunately a little hard, but definitely edible.
For dessert, we shared a grapefruit sorbet that was perfect. Light but flavorful. A plus was that for dessert, we were allowed to move to the vacated table in front of the fireplace. At THAT point, it was perfect.

Given that it was Valentine's Evening, there was a little bit of "confusion", but all in all, it was great. Our waiter made sure we were happy.

Lobster pasta came in fresh tomato based light sauce, and the tomatoes overwhelmed what seemed like a pinch of lobster. Essentially, the pasta needed meetballs, not lobster, and at a price of well over $30 it fell short of a good meal. Lobster bisque fell short as well, and two cups when unfinished. We've eaten here many times, so we chalk this off to a bad night, that is a bad Valentines Day meal

My wife and wanted to go out on Valentine's Day but didn't want to run into the usual over-crowded restaurant experience. It turned out that Piatti for Valentines Lunch was perfect. We weren't rushed, had a great meal and service and it was quiet enough to hear each other. I think this could become our new Valentine "tradition".

This restaurant used to be a favorite go-to for pasta. It had been years since I last went and was so disappointed in the quality of the food. The linguini noodles were broken and over cooked. The gnocchi was tough. Four out of five meals came out together then the last meal took far too long to come out while we politely looked at each other and watched our food get cold. The setting is gorgeous with water views all around. Unfortunately I will not be going back.

This place was an amazing find. Easy to get to, great view of the water during sunset, amazing food, knowledgable staff, quiet ambiance, and the food was impeccable. I highly recommend the pappardelle and the ravioli. Grazie mille!

The service this time was lacking although the f/s had a nice smile and once she was at our table, it was ok. It was not that busy at 5:30. The pizza at Happy Hour was not good, the linguini was ok, I had better.

Great dinner at Piatti. We tried the goat cheese with tomatoes and flatbread as an appetizer and it was great. For entrees we tried the butternut squash ravioli and the pork chop. Both were delicious.

The food was tasty but I'm disappointed in service details. After waiting at the table for close to 10 minutes without being greeted, we went in search of a waiter. While he was fairly attentive from that point forward, details were missed. Plates were cleared while a shared appetizer remained; knives were placed on a bread plate rather than being removed and replaced. Menus were never taken after ordering. White wine was placed in direct sunlight. For a late (1:00) mid-week lunch, I would expect more.

I have been coming to Piatti’s many times with family and friends since it opened in this location. The noise level in the restaurant is almost intolerable. I try to book a table on the patio whenever possible. Today I had booked an outdoor table, but my friends arrived before I did and chose to be inside. When they realized it was so noisy we asked to be seated outside. We asked if we could order and wait for the table. Both the host and server were apprised that we were waiting for the table and were assured that our food would be brought out to us as soon as the table was ready. Once we were seated we waited an hour and forty-five minutes before our food finally was served! Many people came and went while we waited. We asked the host and server several times to check on our orders. They also said they notified the manager. However , the manager never came outside to either offer an explanation or an apology. Also, the server said nothing when he finally brought out the food. We spoke to the manager upon leaving and learned there was a mix-up in the kitchen when we changed tables and they put our original order back and eventually started over.
All people in the party of four have been customers of Piatti’s for many years. The manager made no attempt to explain or offer complimentary desserts, or even comp the order, while we waited so long for their mistake. Any other manager in a restaurant of this caliber would have come out to explain the delay and offer some amenities.

I’m very disappointed in the service and management of this reservation. Several people in our party voiced their dissatisfaction and said they would not come back.

Piatti’s customers deserve better treatment and more competent service!

Love this restaurant! On the water and yummy seasonal food. Always too many options to choose from that I want to try! Good for romance or group outing. Try to sit by the window if not outside for best view!

Tried Piatti again after a few years. Food passable. Calamari appetizer was more fried onions than calamari. Crab cake had no taste. Asked for capellini instead of spaghetti, which the restaurant always had in the past, but it was not available.

Enjoyed a leisurely lunch catching up with a dear friend who lives in SoCal. Never felt rushed. I had requested a window table which was great even though it was a dreary rainy day. The restaurants meeting rooms were packed and the valet was kept quite busy but was incredibly efficient. Piatti's is a great place for a pleasant meal.

A comfortable restaurant with easy access off of US101 in Mill Valley. Very good Italian cuisine with menu items that appeal to all ages (our group was 3 to 73) and we all had very well-prepared favorites from pizza to salad to full pasta entree. The view over inner Richardson Bay with Mt. Tam as a backdrop is also very pleasant and perfect for outdoor dining on sunny days.
