Piatti - Mill Valley Ratings and Reviews
I love this place and it's our go-to before we attend our monthly speaker series! We have had Jarrett the last 2 times we have been there and he's been great! Makes great suggestions and is so helpful in ensuring that we make it out on time so we can make our show. Thanks, Jarrett!
Good table for eight. Initial drink service was slow, no chance of getting a second or wine with dinner. Appetizers were good (crab cake, meatballs). Salads were okay, nothing special, huge portions (could easily share). Pasta entrees were just okay. Waiter service as poor, very slow & inattentive. Took much too long to get coffee, dessert and the check.
Understaffed? Poorly trained? Whatever, we wouldn't bother with this place again.
This was a birthday celebration and we had a wonderful time catching up and eating and drinking wine. We shared the calamari appetizer which was delicious. We all had pastas for dinner. Two had the bolognese and two of us had the fettuccini with clams. We were all very pleased with our selections. Our waiter was delightful as well, and brought us a birthday brownie for dessert. We will definitely be back soon!!
We checked in a bit early and were offered a table that seemed to be in the middle of the lobby or a cold off room. Neither of these were suitable, so we chose one outside, which was cold (the heaters weren't working) but really nice. Blankets were supplied. The food was delicious. The waitress was great. The other waiter who brought the food seemed a little edgy - maybe too busy.
WE DINED THERE LAST EVENING.THE ELECTRONIC WINE SELECTION TABLET ON OR TABLE SHARTED WITH ROMBAUR$45.00 WE ASSUMED THAT IT WAS CHARDONNAY. WHEN WE GOT OUR CHECK WE WERE SHOCKED & INFORMED THAT ROMBAUER CHARDONNAY WAS $ 88.00 PER BOTTLE NOT $45.00 I ASKED TO TALK WITH THE MANAGER, SHE INFORMED US THAT WE HAD ORDERED,DRANK AND HAD TO PAY $88.00 AND DID NOT OFFER ANY CONSIDERATION OR REGARD!
This was a reunion of sorts with a friend who has moved and came for a visit. We had a nice bottle of La Crema Chardonnay and the fettuccine with clams for 2 of us and the risotto with prawns for 1. We were all very pleased with our dinners and the warm bread served with oil, balsamic & garlic. Yummy! We 2 who live here will be back soon!!
Swing and a miss this evening, but we'd give them another chance.
Although the wait staff stated early on that they were 'down a server', the service really seemed like a precipitous drop-off in both quantity and quality from what we have usually experienced. Long waits for bread and water are one thing, but the lack of a smile and the dumping of the bread at the corner of the table because you're super busy is another.
From a food point of view, the crab cake was heavy but the salad was good and the entrees were very good (ravioli and capellini). The wine list is broad enough for most tastes and reasonably marked up. Espresso drinks remain excellent.
I expect we will return based on many good prior meals but we left somewhat disappointed this time.
I used to like Piatti in MV but the food and service has declined significantly. I had a steak that was under seasoned and bland served over a pile of pepperincini, very odd. My husband’s chicken, which used to be very good, was quite dry. Service was awful, we sat with empty empty drinks for several minutes and the subsequent steps just got worse and worse. We finally had to go to the host stand to get our check.
When we went to the valet we had to wait several minutes because he valet had wedged another guests car in and couldn’t get out, almost damaged their car getting it out.
The restaurant has a great location on the water but their chain restaurant side is showing.
Food and atmosphere were great, as expected. Service was horrible. We had to ask for more bread 3 times before they brought it, waited a long time for wine glasses, and coffee after the meal must have been ordered from Columbia! The server was ready to take our order right away, but we were visiting so asked him to give us more time. Then it was as though we were the forgotten table. Completely ignored for a LONG time. I would go back, as the atmosphere is great. Hopefully that server will be off or in another section.
We arrived and were basically asked what we wanted. It was strange. I shared that we had a reservation and we were lead outside by the hostess with quite a bit of delay before we received water. When someone came to wait on us they were helpful and helped us to order out food so that we could make our show nearby. the gnocchi was perfect as well as the linguini with clams. I look forward to returning to this place again to try other menu selections. It is definitely more casual than we had thought initially and that is a plus for us. Bring your sunglasses and hat for the patio it can get bright!
WE have been to Piatti's often and have always had a pleasant experience. On this occasion it did not live up to its usual standard. Service was OK but not great. The presentation was nice. Unfortunately, the pork chop one of us ordered was basically so tough to be not edible and the vegetables were cold. Since we were celebrating out anniversary I did not want to make a fuss and spoil the evening.
The 6 of us have gone to Piatti's 3 different time now to celebrate our 40 plus years of friendship.
We love it and always have a great time with great service and the food is perfect for our food tastes, some are vegetarian. Open table is so easy and when I had to change the reservations this last time it was no problem, easy.
The food was just ok very bland we had the meatballs and crab cakes to start. The meatball sause was really hot but the meatballs were luke warm at best., I had the chicken pie which was ok but nothing to rave about we also had the roast chicken which again was just ok I have to say the service was A+
Been going there for years. Overall food was great, pasta a bit over-cooked though. Waiter serving the food forgot an order and was off on another task after I i had mentioned "we have one more of those coming." It took another reminder to get our soup. The guest who had received the soup initially was polite and wouldn't eat it until all were served. Picky but annoying.
