Piatti - Mill Valley Ratings and Reviews
We went to Piatti for dinner on New Years Eve at 7:15 PM. They sat us in a corner where cold air blew on us all night it was so cold in fact the host wore a fur coat all night I had my legs wrapped up with my shawl, I had requested a booth so we could have a more intimate experience but we must have been penalized for being a mixed race table! We did receive our appetizers on time so will give them that! But waited for quite some time before the waiter took our dinner order but in between appetizers and dinner we were entertained by the waitress dumping a beer on our friend then the busboy came over to clean it up & spilled water on my friends other arm. But good news for them they charged us for the “dumped on my friend 🍺 beer” and we paid for it rather than wait 30 more minutes to have it removed from the bill by the untrained waitress with the broken wrist that must have been related to the manager because that’s the only way she could have been working in the restaurant business!
The food was mediocre fortunately we all ordered pasta which is relatively easy to make so it was ok but my cream sauce was separating and there was too much food on everyone’s plate! Next year I will make reservations much sooner so not left without a choice of good restaurants to choose from. In other words give this place a big pass!
On New Year's Eve, what woman wants to be bundled up in a warm coat just to stay warm while eating dinner? Put on some heat! The waiter was rushing us and at the end of dinner, just said, "Will that be it?" I then asked for a dessert menu. Quick -quick is their style even though they weren't busy that evening (I can see why) The over priced chicken was tasteless. Wanted to really like this place, but won't be back.
Festive but extremely noisy, hard to hear our friends at the table. Food was absolutely uninspired....merely passable. I ordered risotto and it was probably one of the worst executions of this dish. The bar drinks were good though, so if I return, it will be for drinks and maybe a nibble. Not for dinner, ever again.
We had a window seat which was delightful and a little quieter. I ordered the salmon with Brussel sprouts. It was absolutely delicious. My friend had pasta with prawns and ordered a side of Brussel sprouts as that is her most favorite vegetable. The evening was delightful with
good food and company.
We ate here on Christmas Eve and, even with the expected holiday crowd service was excellent, meals arrived quickly as ordered and the noise level where we were seated was low enough that we were able to easily talk in a normal speaking voice.
The bar was packed but the bartenders were very pleasant and delivered the drinks we ordered quickly.
My family was looking for a restaurant that was mid-way to everyone on Christmas Eve. Piatti's immediately came to mind. Easy to find, easy parking, and excellent ambiance. The entire staff, from reception to servers to bar tenders were very attentive and friendly. Meals were well prepared and everyone was pleased with their selections. Costs were very reasonable and the menu was quite diverse. We probably will return next year. Highly recommended.
Six members of our old book club, from San Francisco, Oakland, City of Sonoma and Mill Valley, got together at Piatti's after not being together for years. We asked for a view of Mt. Tam and had perfect seating. Everyone enjoyed the food and shared wine and desert. Our server was patient, thoughtful, helpful and provided great service. One member, using a walker, was able to easily go up the ramp to the door and get to her seat without moving chairs. Everyone thanked me for making such a good choice for our meeting for lunch.
We were in Mill Valley for the weekend and wanted a good dinner. This place definitely fit the bill. Toni was an amazing server on top of everything! The food from the appetizer (the roasted brussell sprouts) to the dessert (affogato) was amazing. The wine glasses were never left unfilled. It was a great night and a memorable way to start a weekend away.
We love Piattis, but service was very poor on this last visit. It was a busy Friday nite and it appeared they were rushed and didn't have enough staff. Even though we were in quiet area, it was so noisy. We had to ask 3-4 times for lemon and ice for our water and the whole ordering process seemed to be confused by staff. Was not the usual lovely experience we are used to.
This was a gathering of 6 friends, one who has moved away but was home for a couple of days.
We had a fine bottle of wine and the calamari appetizer while we chatted and then had lunch, mostly of salads which all looked delicious. I shared the portabello mushroom sandwich and a chopped salad with another, and both were delicious. We had a very enjoyable time and will be back for sure!!!
Great casual dinner spot. The butternut squash raviolis were exceptional, the pasta was above average, the service was spot-on and fast, the view was a plus, the prices were reasonable, and the cocktail menu was well done. Only the dessert menu and tiramisu were lacking. We were pleasantly surprised. Piatti exceeded expectations and I'd definitely go back when I'm in the area and looking for something casual.
We had reserved this spot for Thanksgiving dinner. I’d dined here several times before at different times of the year. Food was very good (both the special Thanksgiving meal and the traditional Italian fare) and service was excellent, attentive. But we were seated in a corner literally two feet from the kitchen. Probably the worst table in the place. The clanging of pots and pans was often deafening and jarring — atop the increasingly high volume of noise from other tables. My companions were elderly, making it very tough on them. Overall, a disappointing and highly unpleasant evening. Not the Thanksgiving we’d hoped for. Avoid this table like the plague — especially if you’ve reserved in advance or if it’s a special occasion. :-/
Had to get up and go find our waiter three times: our food for our out of town friends and watching the food come cold to the table after to much time. had to cancel a second glass of wine because we had to wait.over a half of an hour!
You are very close to a loyal and appreciative consumer.
Piatti's location makes it a "go to" restaurant for us when we are traveling 101 between the North Bay, San Francisco and the Peninsula. Nice views over Richardson Bay towards Mt. Tam enhance the dining pleasure. Food is typically tasty, nicely presented and a decent value. There is always something on the menu to please everyone in the group.
