Strong points: best octopus I've ever had: tender and incredible flavor! Salmon was cooked perfectly and flavorful on its own. Tiramisu was out of this world! The view with the pink clouds reflecting on the water at sunset? Are you kidding me?!!!! Incredible ambience!!! Areas for improvement: 1) treat all customers equally, we didn't put up a stink (was that a mistake?). The restaurant was near empty when we got there and maybe 70% full when we left. We requested a seat by the window (made reservations in advance), but was told we needed a party of more than 4 to sit there. When we left, there were still empty tables by the window and one party of four (older folks) sitting there! 2) Ciabatta bread/balsamic dip was mediocre, I'm confused as to why they charge for it? 3) lemon caper sauce for the salmon was significantly overly salted. 4) Server who gets a cut of a large tip should box the food, not make customers do it. I'm not trying to be a snob, just saying other tables didn't have to box their food and that is part of the experience of being serviced at a higher end restaurant. 5) It was odd that the hostess was also our server, but I sensed she was trying her best and was gaining experience. Other than that, she did an excellent job! Overall, the service was great, and we weren't about to punish the whole team with a poor tip. We're grateful for all of them! It's tough to appreciate the strong points after feeling discriminated against from the get go. While I don't know who is responsible, we were given the impression that management makes the call on where we get to sit. This is the reason we won't go back which we regret because I think on a good day the food would be 100%!

Just overall nonplussed. There on a moderately busy, not swamped, Thursday late lunch. Wine list was good, menu interesting. Bread was warm and tasty, wine served appropriately chilled. Appetizer Misto was fair, inclusion of olives and lemon a nice twist, but otherwise very average. Lemon risotto ravioli were exceedingly bland, and arrived in a puddle of unseasoned olive oil, the short rib sugo pasta was good, but not great. Service was negligent, server vanished and no one else came to check on us while we sat, having finished our meals, waiting, then waiting again for the server to return with the check. Had planned to try desserts, but couldn’t spend any more time waiting. Disappointed after the reviews I’ve read elsewhere.

Fabulous service, delicious food, beautiful setting with a water view of Mt Tam . Always a wonderful place for spur of the moment food or special well planned meals. Miss the "old" style pizzas

This used to be my favorite restaurant and so I made reservations for my birthday but was extremely disappointed. I don’t know if the management or back house has changed in the last few months or what but my entree was actually inedible. The pasta tasted like it had gone bad, it was sour and bitter. I’m not sure if the cream they used was curdled? The waiter never asked how my food was and someone took away my untouched plate quickly so I never had the opportunity to mention the issue. The drinks were also very poor quality. My aperol spritz was essentially a cup on aperol and my partners drink was extremely spicy when it had not mentioned having any spice in it. I always raved to people about the drinks so was very shocked! In the past they also had more options for those with food allergies or restrictions and it seems Piatti no longer wishes to accommodate anyone with such requirements. Me and my partner will not be coming back and will no longer recommend anyone to come here.

Had an early dinner with friends. Half of our dishes were great, but everyone thought the gnocchi was underwhelming, and wondered where the brussel sprouts that were supposed to be part of the dish were - ended up being just a few leaves as garnish!! Also, paying $5 extra for five slices of bread was unpopular. Their short rib sugo w/ pappardelle was great, and service was very good. We’ll still be back, but more careful about what we order - maybe pizza next time!!

We were served too quickly. Bearly got a martini when first course served. We prefer first to finish our drink then order wine to go with first course. We were then served main course when having just started our first course and still sipping our martini. We like to wait to enjoy our main course when we have finished the first course and have been enjoying our wine. The round high tables look good but are not practicle for having 2 dinner plates, water glasses, wine glasses and a water jug. It is too crowded then.

Zach was either not well training or not having a great day. He had trouble opening the wine, so I offered him to place it in the table. He was clearly nervous as he spilled wine on the table & my hand, but didn’t even notice. My guests did. We ordered bread for the table after receiving the wine. About 10 minutes later after we ordered our lunch dishes, he asked if we wanted something to nibble on. I told him we ordered the bread. He seemed surprised. We got an extra salad we did not order, which we immediately sent back, but it still appeared on the check. Food was good, but the uneven & lack of service made the experience less than expected.
