About Piatti - La Jolla
A tradition to many La Jollans, this Italian bistro serves fresh authentic regional Italian cuisine. A landmark Ficus tree takes up one corner of their very popular patio, but the bright and cheerful dining room is delightful during the day or on those chilly evenings when it’s too cold to sit outside. The menu is presented in an innovative and creative fashion offering a wide variety of pastas, pizza and grilled items. In addition, you may find many vegetarian and health conscious dishes. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday and includes specialties such as Uovo Benedetto (Eggs Benefits served on grilled polenta with basil hollandaise) along with omelets and breakfast pizzas.

Piatti - La Jolla Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant has always been a favorite of mine. The food is consistently good as is the quality. The outdoor patio is amazing with a gorgeous old Ficus Tree in the middle, all lit up. It is a great place to take people out to dinner. You need to make reservations well in advance if you would like to dine before 8:00 pm
The only negative is that there is no valet parking- the restaurant is very busy as well as other places in the same area.
Restaurant food par with other Piatti restaurants we have visited.
We were there during busy dinner time and staff appeared overwhelmed as service was slow.
Something unique happened to me and my guest which we all found interesting ...
The waiter (who appeared to be in a rush all the time) kept spilling both water when refilling our glasses ... and spilling wine when refilling glasses!
We decided to refill our glasses ourselves ... to help our waiter ... and to make sure we were not wasting good wine.
I assume this is an isolated event.
Used to live in La Jolla but had never been to Piatti. I grew up eating Italian food so am discerning. But the food and service were excellent. They honored my request for a table on the patio. Everything was terrific. Will definitely return for dinner next time I'm in SD.
This was our first visit to Piatti's and we can't wait to visit again during our next visit to La Jolla. The service was professional, personable, and efficient. We had a family of 5, including two children(10 & 9) celebrating my Mom's birthday. The staff made it a very enjoyable experience for Mom and our entire family. The food is amazing! So delicious and sizable portions. Great selections on the children's menu as well. Thank you to Stephanie for the amazing service!
I really want to love this place. Been to other locations and always end up feeling lackluster. My shrimp were so dry I could barely chew them. The dish needed salt and flavor. Most dishes are low on salt. And I am not a salt lover. Please flavor your foods a little more.
