1 of the best Italian restaurants in SD.
Wonderful! Great food and service every Time!
It had been many years since we made it past the hostess to actually try this restaurant. We gave it a shot and were surely pleased. We were seated promptly. Our wine (we brought a special bottle earlier in the day) was already at our table. The service was perfect, the food incredible, and the price much more reasonable than we expected! We'll be back again soon!
Always a winner! Excellent chicken and cannelloni!
Love this place !! Everything about it!
Excellent food. Tight quarters which made the neighboring very loud table even louder.
Nice setting in a neighborhood. Server was triple sat, which lessened her attention to detail. Overall, a very good experience with the potential to be excellent.
Very good pasta here!
Great for special time with friends and family.
I came here for dinner with my Aunt, and we absolutely loved every part of it! First they start off by giving you bread and to dip, olive oil, balsamic and minced garlic. It is heavenly. I got a glass of wine and had the Veal. It was to die for. The service was excellence and the food was superb. I highly recommend!!
Our 2nd time and the food and atmosphere was as great as we remembered - delicious and flavorful Italian
First time diner who will certainly return soon. Awesome food. Fun bar. Haley, our bartender, was awesome.
Best Italian restaurant in San Diego! A real treat!
Goo Food. Well located in La Jolla.Had the day risotto recommwnded by the waitress which was good choice. All the other went for pasta and also good.
great location - lovely patio! service was excellent
As always amazing food. So delicious and fresh. The carpaccio is to die for.
Great authentic Italian food + great service.
The tables were so close together that the waiters could not get through without my having to scoot my chair completely forward with my stomach pressed into the table. One of my dinner companions had a seat next to the wall, and barely had enough room to get into her chair, and that was only after we pulled the table out a few inches. It really disappointed us. I understand the restaurant's desire to maximize seating and profits, but really? Show a little more respect for your patrons.
Charming atmosphere. Vibrant, fun, romantic, everything was perfect! Delicious meals and fabulous service!
We have eaten at Piatti on quite a number of occasions. Because this was a week-day evening, I was surprised at the quality of the food, more than anything. My pasta was overcook, insufficiently warm, and not very tasty. The patio was closed for renovation, so we tried to conduct a business meal indoors. I had notified the staff regarding the purpose of the meal, and I was disappointed that I was not informed that the patio was closed. The noise level precluded a truly satisfactory conversation. I will return to Piatti, with expectations that the food quality will return to my previous experience.
Always friendly service and food is consistently great. Best bread dipping oil around.
Great menu choices
We enjoyed our waiter, and our food was delicious. Our disappoint was that the pasta and lamb dish featured that evening was sold out by 8:00 pm and the noise level was definitely louder than we prefer.
Another great meal and service! We will return!
Great food. Reasonably priced. Absolutely lovely outdoor dining experience. We made a few requests upon reservation, each of which were honored. We will definitely come back.
Service was excellent as was the food. Will return
Oh YUM! Piatti's is a longstanding go-to restaurant for outstanding Italian food. Their bread is awesome - as well as everything else. It feels like you are in a small town in Italy! Bravo!
Tim - our waiter - made my daughters 20th birthday a memorable occasion. Thanks for the attention to detail and wonderful food.
Enjoyed Easter brunch here - not a fixed menu but breakfast and lunch options were offered. The food was outstanding. Our entire party loved their choice. Only downside was eating under the tree on the back patio. Lots of tiny black flies covered the table when we arrived and was kinda yucky. Not flying around our heads, smaller than that, kinda dust size. It's seasonal but was an unfortunate extra for our table. The front patio (with no tree and bugs) has a little shelter away from the sidewalk so I think that would be a good outdoor choice next time, but looked like it was only for smaller parties. Otherwise, it was a beautiful day and a delicious experience.
Great food and service every time, never an exception in 30 years. The patio is especially lovely.
This was a disappointing dinner. The food timing was way off. Entrees were not brought out together and then one of the dishes had a small rock in it. Despite the overall good reviews on multiple sites, I found the food underwhelming.
Friends from out of town
Extraordinary restaurant .. Best italian in town and extraordinary service
Asked for quiet table and ended up at a table in bar next to 6 very loud men at the bar.
At times could'nt hear each other talk. Very unpleasant!
The service was quite good. Many people came by the table; all were pleasant, helpful and arrived on time. The cauliflower cakes were really superb. The salad was good, and the pizza was just how we like it . . . thin crust and cooked through. Well done.
Been there about 5 or 6 times now and food is always consistently good. Friendly and courteous staff and always attentive. I would recommend this place and go back again and again. It was and is favorite of our cousins who have lived in La Jolla for over 40 years and have been going there forever.
Always amazing, never dissappointed. Love the service, food is delicious (we tried the meatloaf and it was awesome), the ambiance is a mix of lively, warm and romantic. Can’t wait to come back.
The service and food were amazing. The only (small) issue was that because we were outside, little bugs were falling from the tree on the patio. They were harmless and stopped after a bit, but when we told the staff, they didn’t offer to seat us inside.
We had a fantastic early dinner here with our five year old daughter. Excellent house made pasta and beef carpaccio. Extensive kids menu. We will return soon!
Saw Piatti recommended on a couple websites, not at the top on any, but not sure why--we decided to try it anyway. Nice walk from our hotel. Happily pleased, it was everything we needed: ambiance, great staff, wonderful food. Would highly recommend and will return when/if we are back in La Jolla again.
Piatti is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego for these reasons: the food is of high quality, with generous portions, the ambiance is like a cozy home, the wait staff is friendly and competent, and most importantly, it is a great value. Finding a neighborhood gem in La Jolla with prices this reasonable for food this amazing is rare. Try the mushroom rotolo or the beef rib cannelloni. Love this place!
