Good food good wine great service. We had a wonderful evening and we were never rushed to order or leav
Our table for 6 was ready within 5 minutes of our arrival and we had a lovely window table.
The bread & dipping sauce were AMAZING! The papparadelle with seafood was delicious. The chicken was good, not as great as the other dishes.
Only complaints were that one of the chickens was supposed to be no au jus and it wasn’t, and more seriously, one guest does not drink alcohol and was served an alcoholic drink instead of what she ordered. She didn’t realize it until it was halfway drunk (so was she). This was upsetting and while the waitress apologized, she should’ve comp’d the drinks or dessert, or something. We didn’t ask, but the restaurant should’ve really done something more than a verbal apology. That was bad business.
I've been to piatti many times and it is always excellent. One of the jewels of San Diego.
The chicken breast entree was not as flavorful and slightly overcooked, compared to the 1/2 chicken entree we had previously which was excellent.
Food is just delicious! The Patio is my favorite part, i always sit there
Piatti's was fabulous ounce again, never disappoints no matter what the occasion.
Dinner at Piatti is always a perfect night out!
Thank you for making my mom’s birthday a special day by making the menu with her name on it.
Belated Valentine’s Day celebration
Enjoyed our food in a comfortable atmosphere. Nice pacing of meal. Would gladly return
Excellent food, atmosphere and service.
It was a nice evening, thank you!
Always the best time at Piatti!
If you are gluten free, PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU ORDER PASTA. I have been here 3 times and every time order the same thing. Each and EVERY time, they serve me regular pasta. I have to ask “this is gluten free, right?” And the food runner will always say, “oh this is supposed to be gluten free?” So, please double check ALWAYS! One clue is that the gf pasta is penne- if you get another shape, it is regular pasta. The restaurant really needs to be more careful... I worry for people who did not check, or who come here. Overall, the food is fine. It’s the better option for Italian that I have found so far in La Jolla, but it’s nothing too exciting. It’s also very expensive for the portion sizes. So, the price with the overall food taste may not be worth it.
My boyfriend and I went for an early date the night before Valentine's Day, and although the bread and drinks were fantastic, overall the food was disappointing. Piatti was expensive for us (~$20-$30 per entree, ~$15 for appetizers) and even though the food was okay, we definitely didn't think it was worth the price. I ordered a shrimp pasta and the shrimps were extremely overcooked to the point that they were tough and chewy, and my boyfriend's food was unevenly salty so he would take one completely bland bite and one salty bite. We complained to the waitress and she offered to take the food back to the kitchen to have it remade, but we didn't think it would be worth the time. We ate inside at a table and it kind of felt like eating inside a model house. I wouldn't recommend this place for the price or ambience.
Everything was great! They even made specially printed menus that matched our anniversary, which I indicated when making reservations through the app. I did not request this verbally, so we were very pleasantly surprised.
Food was amazing, and at very affordable prices. I was expecting the bill to be at least 30% higher, especially because we were dining in La Jolla.
Service was also great, very attentive but not annoying.
We were seated very promptly, so from start to finish, we had a great experience. We’ll definitely be going back soon!
My husband and I have been coming to Piatti to celebrate our anniversary for a couple of years now. We went there with our family after eloping, then returned the next two anniversaries. Our anniversary falls on Valentine’s week, so I understand restaurants are very busy. This time, our server was clearly rushing us out. She checked on us far too often, kept taking our plates away, and when she dropped off the check, kept coming by to pick it up when we weren’t even ready. I was still sipping my wine and trying to enjoy the ambiance. It honestly ruined our experience and we are going to try to find a new tradition. I’m so sad about this considering it was our tradition.
We took friends to celebrate their anniversary. Good wine, good food, we'll go back!
Very popular patio dining in the evening with romantic lighting and excellent service and food. A wedding rehearsal dinner or a weekend brunch are served unobtrusively and cheerfully!
A family favourite for many years.
Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Noise makes conversation difficult or impossible.
Overbooking means a 15 minute wait even with a reservation.
We had a very enjoyable early Sunday dinner at Piatti. The food was delicious, the patio was lovely at sunset and the service was friendly and efficient. The only slightly odd factor was that there was no fresh fish on the regular menu, only one item on the daily specials. But the pasta with shrimp (I substituted grilled chicken) was to die for, as was the caulifower cake appetizer. I ordered to reasonably priced glasses of Pinot grigio that were served perfectly chilled. All in all, a lovely dining experience and with an appetizer and two drinks each, out the door for just under $100. Not bad.
The menu offered lots of yummy sounding food but once the food arrived at our table we were very disappointed. The breading was stale, the risotto was bland, the olives were incredibly salty, and the salad was nothing but romaine lettuce with a drizzle of dressing ... no hearts of palm! My husband and I rarely go out to eat we are very health conscious Foodies. This was not the place for us.
Food was great and service was amazing.
It’s always delicious at Piatti’s. The food is great, and we especially like the oil with herbs and the bread they give us before dinner. It’s our go-to place at the Shores.
Can’t wait to return
Had been to Piatti a couple years back while visiting family in San Diego. Once again, this restaurant did not disappoint. The food was excellent and our server, Justine, was helpful, attentive and good humored. Well worth the visit if you're in or near La Jolla.
Always love Piatti's!. Great service and great food. This can be a place you can go on for a nice date or just show up to for a great meal and wine while sitting at the bar.
I wish I had caught our waiter's name as he was beyond excellent. He was Italian with endless patience for 3 older gals with split checks, lingering at table that should have turned and he was very nice to boot. I have Celiac which is never fun for a restaurant to accommodate. They have a GF menu (YAY!) and GF pasta. My meal was fabulous. House-made Italian sausage with a spicy tomato sauce.
Always a favorite restaurant has become even better!
Everything we ordered was delicious! My cocktail was great too. Will definitely be going back.
Been going to Piatti’s for 15 years. Never had a meal that was less than superb, never had service that was less than stellar.
