Piatti - Denver Ratings and Reviews
I have eaten here twice before & my food was great, all 3 times, ( spinach ravioli), and the arugula salad was yummy, too. But my husband ordered the salmon and specifically asked that it be medium - medium rare. It came out well done. The waiter had told him it would be medium unless he asked otherwise. This was his first dinner @ Piatti’s, so he was not as pleased as the other 3 of us.
Spinach saute was tasteless and we sent it back. I was asked what temperature I wanted for the pork loin--I responded "medium" and it came to me very well done, leathery. Mussels were good, but not great. Waiter was inexperienced and totally butchered the pronunciation of the wine, which is forgivable but still, in an Italian restaurant the waitstaff should be better informed and prepared.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Denver area. The food is consistently very good and the service is highly satisfactory. An old standby on the menu, spinach ravioli with their lemon cream sauce, has drawn me back several times for that dish alone. You can't go wrong with this one.
Food was great. Didn’t appreciate being seated on the porch, where the lighting is very bad, after specifically requesting a table near the fireplace when I made the reservations. lighting in there is very bad. Waiter was excellent. Noise level was tolerable but a bit on the high side.
I love sea food cioppino and ordered it. The broth came quite spicy-hot, but I liked it. However, it would seem to me that one scallop, two shrimp, two clams, three mussels and three very small squares of fish were a bit skimpy for this dish and price of $21. I don't think it would break the budget, if one could have a finger of each fish and three of each scallop, clam, mussel, shrimp. Oh, yes there were two crab legs (the very ends) and with the cocktail fork-tine you could scrape out tiny slivers of meat. In fact, you could eat all the fish with a cocktail fork. I did like the broth. NOTE: the waiter tried to make up for my complaint with a dessert my wife andI shared. Very smart.
Have eaten at Piatti's many times. Wonderful food. Sometimes waitstaff is iffy (kinda grouchy, not easy to find) but our waiter this time was spot on - checked in the right amount, honored requests, made great wine and food suggestions, food came out quickly, etc. Salmon was perfectly prepared and delicious. Salad fresh and flavorful with right amount of dressing. Yummy panna cotta with cappuccino. All good!
