Piatti - Danville Ratings and Reviews
I normally love my meals at Piatti, but this last visit was disappointing. It started out great with a plate of yummy breakfast breads on the table to enjoy, a special birthday message on our menus in honor of my girlfriends special day and being very accommodating to a friend that had special dietary needs. Unfortunately there were a couple mistakes where the wrong food and drinks were delivered to our table and my French Toast was overcooked and lacked flavor. I am assuming this experience was just a fluke after having numerous great meals over the past 20 years.
The night started on a very positive note. The booth that I requested was reserved for me. Once we sat down we found a few issues. The food was very good but the service was lacking. While we had a very pleasant time overall we found the service to be somewhat slow and lacking the kind of attentiveness we have come to expect as regulars of Piatti. For us the service declines with each visit. We don’t find he wait staff to be as friendly and accommodating as they were years ago.
I’ve been going to this restaurant since 2003 and I was always leaving happy with their service and great food. But this time, I took my friend for her belated birthday lunch and my food was the worst ever. I ordered pumpkin ravioli. I took a bite and couldn’t swallow it. it looked and taste like just came out of freezer and warmed up in the microwave. It was cold and watery. Ravioli was swimming in it. I never ever had that kind of food anywhere. Their service was and is very good. Our server, Gerry’s service was exceptional...
We felt the sizes were smaller than in the past. I got the large paste plate and then wondered what the small must have been like! Salad was not much either. Disappointed. Waiter and greeter staff was great. Liked the birthday menu touch but missed the birthday dessert as in the past.
Our group was accommodated at a round table as requested in our reservation (some restaurants seem to ignore the special request portion of the reservation). Our server was great with just the right amount of attentiveness and fulfilled our request for separate checks graciously. As always, the food was delicious and the olive oil dipping sauce for the bread is a highlight!
I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere. It felt busy and intimate without feeling like you were listening in on your neighbor's conversations. I had the deviled eggs and shared the antipasti plate to start. Both were excellent. For my entree, I ordered the pork chop porterhouse. The entire dish emanated the scent of seared bacon. The meat was tender and very flavorful. I loved this dish. Tiramisu was ordered for dessert. It was a massive portion. I have a weakness for this dessert so I did not share but keep this in mind if you order it, the serving is generous. I look forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.
My husband and I had a great time. We started with a nice glass of Carneros champagne. We enjoyed the meatball appetizer followed by a delicious caesar salad. My husband was thrilled to order his "special" pizza with pepperoni, bacon and sausage. I opted for the dinner special, cod with a tasty risotto and we finished the meal with a apple crisp. We will definitely be back.
Hostess was rude. We waited almost 15 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation. After waiting, we watched them throw our table together - it was a two-top with an extra chair thrown at the end right next to the door. So much for our special occasion - it was my bfs birthday. The food was only ok, my raviolis were served in a broth that was supposed to be sauce. The bread was amazing. But I will not return here no matter how good that damn bread is. There are plenty of restaurants with good bread and good service!
We went on a Thursday night to celebrate my brother in laws birthday. We like good healthy food, that also has options for teens. We got both, all of our dinners were great. Wine selection was good and the prices are reasonable for a fancy place. The service was excellent. We will go back.
Piatti as as always is a great place to meet people. 3 of the 4 had Caesar Salad, 2 with chicken and one with delicious grilled shrimp. One ordered Brussel’s Sprouts salad which was outstanding. The Tiramisu dessert was better than most. Piatti’s has been a keeper for many years.
Warm and friendly, with Tuscan yellow walls, a rambling open floorplan, a fireplace, and delicious smells emanating from the open kitchen, this is my favorite place to take friends for lunch or dinner. Piattis features seasonal cuisine, ingredients from local farms, and ever-changing Italian regional specialties. In the warm weather, get a table outdoors by the fountain and you can dine for hours over appetizers, food and a great wine list. In short, it does not get better than Piattis for family, friends, special occasions, or a drink at the bar. Like every good restaurant in Italy, it does what restaurants were meant to do--bring food and people together.
Food was good as usual but the service was not great. Snarky comments from the waiter that we were taking too long to choose our meal (we had already ordered drinks). Also the drink wasn’t up to par. The waiter admitted he didn’t think it looked the right color after I asked if they could correct it but he had decided not to say anything. I am used to better service at Piatti.
We love the food here! It's our go-to restaurant for our family. There were only 3 of us tonight as the other two were abroad. We had been given a gift card so we thought we would have our Thanksgiving early and it was delicious! We will always return. The service as always was very good!
Always good. We dine with a couple friends who have rather peculiar food preferences and request substitutions and changes in preparation. Piatti always accommodates them with a smile. Have been coming here at least once a month for years and plan on more visits. Could use a couple more rosés on their wine list, particularly French ones.
They acknowledged my request for a particular table and that it was a birthday celebration through my open table reservation and I was really happy with that. The server on the other hand seemed to be rushing us from the start, but then when he clearly got the message (body language) that we didn’t want to be rushed, he was much better with our service and we chalked it up to he may have been new on the wait staff. All in all we had a good experience.
