I had chosen Piano Piano specifically because its location was halfway between my location and my guests'. I requested patio seating and it was a lovely evening. Unfortunately, there was some sort of public works machinery operating on Mt. Pleasant, just steps away from the restaurant, which was making a pumping noise and racket throughout our entire meal. It was hard to hear and really detracted from what was to have been a special occasion. I fully understand this was not the restaurant's fault, but it did spoil the experience for me. I also didn't particularly enjoy my main course, which the server told me was "not hot/spicy at all" but I found it so, and would have chosen something different. (it was fish in a. tomato-based broth with some sort of pepper in it....which I considered rather hot and the chef obviously did not.). All the other dishes we ordered were very good...pizza, caesar salad, and carrot cake.

We were warmly welcomed and the service was friendly and professional throughout our lunch. The food is always delicious at Piano Piano and was again this time too. Generous portions. Served hot. Ate every bite. We loved sitting in the ''Vault'' ... a new experience and really nice to have a cozy setting to catch up with friends.

Went for the lunch special and it was really worth it. Great food, good atmosphere and the lunch special is 3 courses for under 40 bucks a person which I would say is great value as well. Would recommend if you're in the mood for Italian food.
