Service was slow, and the place was practically empty. And it was very expensive. Lunch was $40 per person. No drinks. Ridiculous.
Very nice food and service for our business dinner. Really liked how flexible it was when we had a larger group attend.
For a Sunday night dinner at 6pm we found the noise level very loud, music was blaring from the bar area and not conducive for having a nice conversation. The couple sitting next to us also mentioned how loud the music was and left without having dessert. Disappointed this visit as usually this place is great.

The caesar salad was not exciting. The Parmesan cheese was not thin or crumbly. It was more like sliced cheese and tasted like Swiss cheese. The croutons were not house made and had no flavor. The appetizer with fava beans had good flavor but had a very runny mozzarella cheese on on top. It was difficult to separate the cheese and enjoy it so it was left on the side of the plate. The spinach ravioli was yummy and the raspberry dessert was absolutely delicious. This is a popular restaurant.
They were able to accommodate my request for a private room. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good and was served on a timely manner. Overall great experience and will definitely recommend this place for business meetings and group dining.
On an unusually cold day it was nice to be seated in the dining room near the fireplace. Our waiter was very sweet and he checked on us enough times. The food was good. I had the Bulgar Bowl and a bowl of tomato soup.
My husband had the lamb sandwich which was absolutely delicious and very flavorful. The lamb was cooked perfectly! It came with soup and salad. The tomato basil soup was delicious as was the side salad. I have the Florentine Benedict. They had no flavor even when I added salt and pepper. The English muffin tasted like an uncooked ball of dough. I don't think I have ever had a benedict with hollandaise sauce that had absolutely no flavor! The potatoes were very good. A disappoint me for our anniversary celebration especially with my husband dish having so much flavor.
The only bright spot to my meal was the wonderful service we had. our waitress was really wonderful and very attentive.

We went on a double date with my husband’s colleague and his spouse. The restaurant was very accomplished of the fact that we arrived staggered. Esp one person came in almost an hour and a half after the rest of us began.
Food was fine. There was only one veg starter and limited veg main course items. An italian place can do better on this. Food sat really heavy on my tummy the next day. Decent wine selection and cocktails.
Place got super loud towards the end, almost as if they were trying to make us leave with the music. And this was a weeknight.
Biggest issue - service. Our server approached us twice before we were ready to order, then completely disappeared on us. We had to repeatedly signal for someone to take our order when we were actually ready to order. She also forgot to send us the cheque. Very awkward and non intuitive of guests.
The last time we dined here was 10/2010. Decided on lunch and was surprised they don't do a regular lunch on a Saturday. The waiter was very accommodating and checked with the kitchen staff to see what pasta dishes they can come up with. We shared a Margherita pizza and a Rigatoni Pasta Forno. Both were very good, especially the rigatoni dish. It stays hot until we polished it. We had a great time here!
Had to move from a table near a wall shared with an exercise studio to one that was too big and had an unstable top. Why is it so hard for restaurants to get this right. It's the basics for a nice restaurant: stable tables that are the right size. The food is wonderful. I wish I could say the same for the infrastructure. A few hours of attention to this would make it a great restaurant.
It was Valentine’s, so my expectations for service weren’t high, but I expected more of the food. Ambience was lovely and staff was extremely sweet and friendly however, so I may give it another go on a normal evening.
It was Valentines Day. The restaurant added tables to accommodate more people on Valentine’s Day as such the seating was very crowded. The croutons on my caesar salad was soft. I complained and was told that it wasn’t his area. I had linguine clams lobster for a main course which should have been good but was pretty much tasteless. The service was poor. I had to waive down someone (not our waiter) to order a second glass of wine for my wife. The best part of the meal ( beside the company—my wife)was the dessert. I had a chocolate mousse which was very tasty. On the plus side I asked to have the starter without goat cheese which they readily accommodated. Also I asked if they could remove the onions from the main course which they also accommodated.
Noisy, bad service expensive
Tony, the owner, is a gem. We had a terrific business lunch facing the street, but indoors - awesome natural light.
The food was delicious and we were treated very well by the staff.
First time I've been here. Great food, very tasty and good portion size. The server was good not great, I'm guessing he is new to the restaurant business. He never come by to pour the wine. There was a mom at the bar and she lets her kids run wild around our table and it was getting very irritating. One of the waiters finally noticed they kept bumping into our table and asked them to settling down. Mom however ignored them as she enjoyed her cocktails. (not good) Overall, I would go back again and would recommend it to friends.
Went for a co-worker birthday party, table of 5, lunchtime. The restaurant was empty and the service was still horrible. No one came to the table for 15mins to take our drink order. The waitress just sat there completing her side work. She didn't check in during the meal. Food mediocre, salad flooded with dressing, other complained about how fishy the shrimp was. We had to flag down someone else for dessert menus. Had to get up to find the waitress to get our bill. Nothing special for the birthday person. I have been in the hospitality industry for a long time and waited many a tables, I never do review comments, this was a horrible dining experience.

Our friends enjoyed the calamari so much so we ordered another plate. Personally I preferred the mussel appetizer on the skillet. I enjoyed my clam linguini although my friend’s husband said it was a little bland. That was true, the sauce was not the creamy sauce but more a soupy broth but the clams were fresh and plentiful. My husband’s salmon and good with the lentils. We asked for butter with our friend and our server brought it promptly. The noise from the paint nite event in the back of the restaurant was distracting at times because we could hear the instructor talking on the mic. The white roses from the flower arrangement at our round table for 6 had wilted but the white centerpiece still presented a nice setup. Parking in San Carlos is always an issue but we all managed to find street parking eventually.
The wine tasting was a disappointment: they used a big name winery to attract one's attention, then used another well known winery for the wines (bait and switch?!). Served microscopic portions of the wine.
Service was inattentive; food was lukewarm. We have eaten at this restaurant several times before but have never been this disappointed.
The restaurant really needs to update the menu. There is nothing on the menu that makes this place interesting anymore. There is such huge competition in San Carlos , they need to step up. We had salmon- it was ok, nothing special, and chicken- sliced, pre-cooked half breast, very dry. Looks like the restaurant is cutting cost. Not sure we'll go back, unless on heavily discounted coupon.
We had a late lunch at Piacere so it wasn’t very busy and I cannot comment on the noise level. We were seated in a little cozy room with a burning fireplace.
I don’t often go to Italian restaurant as I’m a vegan but the lunch menu was perfect with the ‘build-your-own’ bowls or salads. The choice was fabulous, our waiter was super friendly and despite being late we were not rushed to eat and leave.
I’ll definitely be back again!
Excellent Caesar salad, good pizza, OK fried calamari. Service was very pleasant, but they brought everything at once. Though we had not specified otherwise, most restaurants would have brought the salad and calamari appetizers first.
Great brunch on Sundays and holidays!! I would go back with friends in a heartbeat.

When I booked New Years Eve dinner reservation, it did not indicate that there was a fixed price menu for the evening, which we were unpleasantly surprised to find out when we were seated! I had seen other restaurants listing that there was fixed price menu for new years eve and i had skipped them - i would have skipped this option too if i had known! They did offer a limited kids menu. The appetizer was okay, the salad was a little skimpy, the filet mignon was delicious, and mousse was good but not spectacular! The service was decent and food was presented quickly. Overall it was an okay meal but the experience was soured by the inflated prices! Definitely will not be returning!
Went for their Pre fix New Years dinner. Good menu. Food was excellent as always. Service was much too brisk. It was almost an "eat and get out" situation. Soup and salad courses came out before we had finished the previous course. Restaurant was not crowded so there was no reason for the rush. Other than that it was a good experience.
We have been to this restaurant a number of times,thoroughly enjoyed it.We met fabulous head chef, have always enjoyed our meal. We enjoyed it so much we then bought 5 gift certificates; the report was always positive. We wanted a family gathering of 16 people for Christmas Eve so we asked if reservations would be available. The answer was "No Problem" We proceeded with reservations. When our party arrived, all on time, we were directed to two separate tables. We were all disappointed as this was NOT a table of 16 but two separate tables of 8. Our waiter a male (I wish I remembered his name was great.) Immediately he apologized to us right away saying service might be slow since "2 large parties of 8 came in at the same time and he was the only server" . We then told him we were all one party and that we were supposed to sit at one table. He again apologized and served us within a timely matter with dignity and respect. We also accommodated him with a more that 20% tip since the situation was not his fault. Overall the food was okay but was not as good as other nights we had been there. We were charged with an appetizer that was "included" with the prefix menu and it was not very good at all. This could slightly by explained by the fact that it was crowded for Christmas Eve but on the other hand since this was a place of service that should have been able to adjust to large crowds and special events, perhaps they should have made some adjustments. Our menus at the table were all different. Some said we had a "prefixed menu" and others did not. Regardless we all were still charged with the appetizer. ( We were quoted on the phone that there would not be a prefixed menu.) Prices were higher than normal but obviously not the accommodations. It is obvious to say but I will not be buying any more gift certificates for friends and family. Such a disappointing evening for a special time for out family. At this point, I am not likely to return.
We went Christmas Eve. Very busy. Good variety of entrees were offered on a price fixed menu.
We had Christmas eve dinner here with our 3 adult and teenaged children. The service was somewhat rushed. My daughter’s soup was removed before she was able to finish it. They had a set menu with good options, including vegetarian. However, the serving size of the vegetarian option was smaller than the other options. Two of us had the lamb shank which was excellent. Two of us had the short ribs over mashed celery root. The short ribs were a bit dry. Ambiance was a little tense and uncomfortable. The host (maybe the owner) was abrupt with some of the customers who were checking in and was snapping at some of the staff. I think under normal circumstances, the service would probably be better. They just had difficulty handling such a busy night.
We have eaten at Piacere a few times. I enjoy the ambiance here. The menu is always featuring my new seasonal dishes which are fun to try. I most appreciate that their menu indicates their gluten free and vegetarian dishes. They have also prepared my gf dishes separately which is reassuring. Sometimes service is a bit on the slow side (depending on the server), but it is always friendly and accommodating.
This continues to be a favorite. Food selection is excellent and well-prepared. Service is top-notch too.
Piacerre truthfully is hit or miss. I’ve been five times. 3 good two bad. Decent price point. Menu is prolly too big and broad to say they are great at any one things. This was my first lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. Just need to improve service.
Friendly, efficient, quality foods. Wine by the glass options were adequate, did not explore the full wine list. The starters of burrata was good, the octopus was great. For main courses, the serving sizes were moderate, just about right. Very well presented and cooked. Thoroughly enjoyed it, will go again. And it works for a gluten-free diner. The gluten-free options were marked on the standard menu.
Restaurant was quite empty at almost 8PM. Service was impeccable. Food was very good too.
Needed place for business dinner for 8. We got table be bar area but they have a few nice options for more private areas that looked great. Food was delicious. Linguine and clams was done right! Service was very professional and timely.
