Good meal. Nice ambiance. The restaurant is closing. We will miss this comfortable neighborhood spot
Scallops were excellent. Cocktails tasty.
Absolutely recommend to friends and family. Great service, food, and recommendations from the owner (Tony) given our table's preferences for food and wine. Thank you!
Paul is awesome!
The food was great and had wonderful options for our granddaughter who is both vegan and gluten free. Our waitress was terrific!
The burgers with the Romesco sauce, bacon and provolone were very delicious. The salad with basil balsamic were s great accompaniment. I look forward to the next time.
Food was problem, not server. Never going back. Bread stale, meat literally so rubbery it could not be eaten, sent it back. The server did his best, no blame there, although someone should show him proper was to pour beer.
Great food, prompt, attentive service. Enjoyed ourselves.
WE had a very nice server but he was spread too thin. We were not in a hurry so not a big problem but we waited 10-15 min. every time we asked for something.
Menu is also very limited. More choices please.
So the question is why? Why is it that a restaurant right across street from Peacere is completely pack and on a wait? I spent 30 plus years running restaurants, so here is my take.
1. Menu: The menu is at best mediocre, do not get me wrong the food is delicious but the choices are few and very ordinary. Here is a clue, take a look at your neighbors menu.
Service: I made reservations a week in advance and we were running late so my wife called to let them know and the person said not to worry. When we arrived I gave the gentleman my name and he said, " You reservation is not in but we can sit you anyway" WHAT?
The server was very friendly but not efficient, Our server forgot a couple of things, one of them she never came back with, and the other one we had to remind her about.
Admosphere: The big room we were sat at was nearly empty at 7:00 on a Friday. See how things add up! The restaurant business is a cruel business, you must do a minimum of 1000 things perfect every shift in order to survive. Focus on the moments that matter because everything communicates!
Four long time friends met for drinks at 3:00. We started just with cocktails (it's Happy Hour) and some olives. Then we went to the pizza (very nice) and some wine, then dessert and more Mojitos! Our server, Soren, was outstanding. Nice to sit in afternoon sun and enjoy the local action.
The food and service were excellent! I plan to go back soon!
Very good service from our waiter. Nice ambience outside and great food.
Catered to large groups
Food was excellent
Salmon was good. Never received the salad I ordered. No bread was brought out. Actually, only saw the waiter twice before we finished. Service was bad.
Food was good
The service has always been exceptional at Piacere. We went there on July 4th and there weren't many people there. Though our caesar salad did not arrive before our entrees. Our server was apologetic and allowed us to buy a dessert and get one free.
Dinner at Piacere was the end enjoyment to close off the evening, for after our show at Lucie Stern Palo Alto ( One Man Two Guvnors - we laughed our heads off) . Our waiter at Piacere, Moses, was especially the best, seeing to all our needs.
Food was delicious: Osso Bucco.....Piacere burger....to the Creme Caramel for dessert.
food was disappointing. Lettuce and tomatoes in salad were not fresh
The service was excellent. Three of us enjoyed a great conversation, we weren't rushed and the waiter was very attentive. The only issue we had was 2 of our dishes (the salmon) were very salty and we mentioned it to the waiter who offered to replace the meals but we politely declined because other than being way too salty the fish was prepared excellently and we didn't want to waste the food. I rather expected the manager to stop by and apologize the way the waiter did (it was early and not busy and the waiter said she advised the manager) but that never happened and also expected maybe a comped dessert but that did not happen either (we ordered dessert and it was on the bill.) Because the waiter was attentive and professional I paid the bill and left a large tip but I doubt I will go back any time soon because of the lack of attention by management.
Food was okay, nothing special. I had the pasta and sauce was watery and bland. Sorry, last visit was tastier!
Excellent food, great service, reasonable prices...the new chef rocks. What more could you ask for, except perhaps some more keto-frendly items. But that is not really Italian, is it? I look forward to the next time.
Piacere was wonderful. Quiet restaurant in downtown San Carlos. Nice outdoor seating area. Wonderful service. The roasted cauliflower was a meal in itself. The gazpacho soup was perfect - just like in Spain. Very nice presentation on all meals. Nice to have a house wine option which was reasonable.
Thank you for the kind words! We are so happy you enjoyed your dining experience and look forward to serving you again soon!
We went to Piacera to celebrate my birthday. Both of us thought the food was so good and the service was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Thank you for choosing Piacere for your birthday celebration. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your dining experience!
We escaped the unbelievable heat, but we were very happy beyond the air-conditioning. What a surprise regarding the delicious food! We have gone to Piacere off and on for many years mainly influenced by the food. The new chef raises the bar tremendously. The burger that came with bacon, provolone and an incredible romesco sauce made mayo, mustard, ketchup obsolete. The gazpacho soup was perfect for the 100+ temperature...so flavorful and refreshing. All this and a great reasonably priced dry rose wine and montepulciano wine (not easily found). We will not wait for hot weather to return.
Thank you! It's so nice to get positive feedback on our recent menu changes. We look forward to serving you again soon!
Great service great food all round lovely meal
We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your meal with us. Thanks!
Had a really nice time here last night. Food was great. Server was really nice and let us hang and talk.
Thanks for the review! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your dining experience!
Ambiance was very good. It is lively but one can easily still carry on a conversation. Apparently, they were short staffed the evening we visited. We were seated by a hostess but it took 10-15 minutes before our waiter greeted us. The pan seared salmon was very good. The tagliatelle was very tasty once it cooled but it was served so hot it could be eaten for nearly 20 minutes. Our waiter was very good but it was clear he had far too many tables to provide the expected level of service. In general, the service aspect seemed disjointed. For example, at the conclusion of our meal, our waiter asked us if we would like dessert. Rather than having the dessert menu with him, he went away, undoubtedly got busy, and came back with the menus 15 minutes later.
We will go back but they really need to focus on their service.
The ambiance was fantastic, and the staff were super friendly. There was an amazing young band playing jazz that created a great vibe. Will come back for sure!
Thanks, John! We really appreciate the nice note and look forward to seeing you again!
Food was disappointing. The ribeye steaks were way under cooked. Ordered medium-well and came out all red inside. The pizza crust was soft.
Service horrible as always and food is just mediocre
Mother’s Day brunch. Food was great but the service could not keep up with demand. We waited for plates, utensils, coffee. The waiters apologized every time and she was doing her best but at the cost of 45$ per person, there is an expectation of better service.
Have been a regular for Sunday brunch but not happy with the recent menu changes. Will probably go elsewhere.
Thank you for taking the time to send us a note. We are sorry to hear that you are not a fan of the recent menu changes. They will be changing seasonally, so keep an eye out for something that might appeal to you in the future.
There was a 3 course menu for Mother's Day Brunch. Most of the items on the menu were lunch options, and only limited breakfast/brunch options. It was severely overpriced as well and both my wife and I were upset with the quality and the value
Great food and excellent service! I highly recommend it!
Hi William, We're so glad you enjoyed your dining experience with us! The new management team has made a big push to improve on service and food quality, and we're so happy to hear our efforts are starting to show. Cheers!
Was able to book a Mother’s Day brunch last minute, and Piacere did not disappoint! Great food, nice staff, good experience.
Hi Jenny, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a note! We are very happy that we were able to provide you with a pleasant dining experience amidst the Mother's Day rush. Cheers!
Great first time visit. We went for our anniversary.
Hi Kevin, Thanks so much for choosing to celebrate your anniversary at Piacere! We are very happy to hear that we were able to provide you with a pleasant dining experience, and look forward to serving you again in the future. Cheers!
We were looking for a neighborhood restaurant with decent food and on that score this place fits the bill. It was a chilly evening and the restaurant had all doors open and patio seating. I insisted on indoor seating for this reason, but was cold throughout the entire meal - our waitress finally closed one of the doors. Roasted cauliflower good appetizer for those avoiding carbs. I decided to try the osso buco- veal was decent but to replace the polenta the kitchen doubled the Brussels sprouts- too much and too heavy. Some of the other dishes looked good. Mostly pasta which I cannot eat. Waitress had little patience for dietary restrictions. I think kitchen followed suit. I won’t rush back.
