About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for creative cocktails
  • Great for happy hour
Phuc Yea offers a selection of shareable plates that capture the soulfulness and passion behind family-rooted recipes, the restaurant is inspired by Aniece Meinhold's Vietnamese heritage and Cesar Zapata's Third Coast culinary roots. Under one roof, guests are invited to marvel at Biscayne's blossoming Mimo District; embrace 90's hip-hop, street-cool music; and enjoy Cesar's version of Viet- Cajun cuisine - a lively mash up of fresh and colorful Vietnamese ingredients pumped up with spicy, bold Cajun flavors. This grown up version of Phuc Yea is largely seafood driven.

Brunch features a dim sum style menu that highlights classic American brunch preparations. It is at brunch, Chef Zapata will feature his Gulf and Southern influences more prominently while still integrating Vietnamese breakfast tradition.

Started off with the octopus and the spring rolls. Both were delicious. The octopus was probably the best that I’ve ever had. It was cooked perfectly. Then we had the millionaire rice, the short rib experience, and the fried chicken all were absolutely scrumptious that topped off by a wonderful little bread pudding. The only downside of the evening was they did not have any Vietnamese coffee. Service was excellent as always, and the staff took care of us like family. For those of you have who have never been here before, please come you do not know what you are missing until you have experienced it. Make your reservations in advance to experience this neighborhood gem!

The service was great but the food was just ok. Drinks are very pretty but not good.

Phuc Yea was such a fun and flavorful experience! The vibe is eclectic and energetic—perfect for a casual night out or happy hour. The food was bold and creative, with a great mix of Vietnamese and Cajun influences. We loved everything we tried, especially the bao and the noodles. What really stood out, though, was the service. David, the bartender, was AWESOME. He was handling the bar but still made sure to take great care of us at our high-top table. Super friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. A+ for customer service and personality! Great happy hour deals, delicious cocktails, and an overall fun atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Went here for a date night and had an amazing time. The cocktails were well done and the food was so unique and delicious. The fried octopus was incredible and some of the best we’ve ever had. Would highly recommend!

Great food and a very friendly and welcoming staff. They have great happy hour deals that are to be taken advantage of throughout the week. The short rib was great and excited to come back to try other dishes.

Not worth the hype. This was a totally forgettable dinner for a memorable event. It is very surprising that’s a Vietnamese restaurant doesn’t serve Pho everyday. It is more surprising that there are very few vegetarian options. The avocado hummus is served smeared through half a bowl and wjth lighting, you may not even notice it - that’s how little is served. The taste however is totally disappointing. Well had the tostones, the hummus and fried tofu - and left hungry.

Another tired and overrated Asian fusion whose time came and went and are relying on previous street creed to keep the lights on. Told to consider dishes as sharing size, in reality only consider this option if you plan on sharing with imaginary friends. Plates took forever and also came out with a huge lag time. So you’re left with that awkward feeling of do we start eating or let the food get cold, you know because courtesy. One waitress handing over 8 tables and in different sections, so any attention was non existent. But who cares about offering good service anyway when they automatically tack on 20%. In locals speak, there is no incentive to provide good service when the tip is guaranteed. I really really wanted to like this place but left feeling like I got mugged in a back alley. $400 for a party of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and we left like we still needed a taco bell run. Do yourself a favor, move on and look elsewhere. Miami has too many option to get taken by the smoke and mirrors.

Found the restaurant on Open Table. Wasn’t far from where we were staying. With a name like this how could we not go. Everything was amazing. We’re still telling everyone about the black cod and the crispy tofu ohh and the dumplings excellent. The service was excellent. Menu was explained. Its family style Recommendations for how much and what to order were spot on. You should go here.

Too bad this place is not managed better. Had to wait at the front desk for a long time until someone came out to greet us. Came for the happy hour and was informed it is only available in the bar area. Tried to sit us at the bar next to a loud group with two guys laughing and screaming. Bartender did nothing. Requested to be moved to a table and got an attitude. Squeezed us into a table between the bar and the main walkway. Plenty of empty tables beside us but she said we could not sit there for happy hour. Happy hour only had one food item available. Menu is limited and does not have any Thai dishes. Signature dish was dry and overcooked. Too bad it’s run so poorly because the interior design is so cool.
