Phoenix City Grille Ratings and Reviews
Came to PCG, as it's called, for Valentines Day, literally last minute. No problem getting a reservation... what is wrong with you people! :-) Seriously though, the ambiance was awesome, our server was fantastic, and the food... WOW. I know why people came back time and time again..... for YEARS! We will be back many times going forward.
Phoenix City Grille always shines and never disappoints. Went here for Valentines and opted for the Surf and Turf special which was excellent- Tenderloin wth 3 mex. white shrimp that tasted like lobster. The dish was served with the creamiest mashed potatoes ever and haricot verts. Truly excellent. My date had the other special of Sea Bass which I believe gave the Tenderloin a run for its money- cooked perfectly, served with a fennel crab cake, grilled asparagus and topped with a dreamy bernaise sauce which absolutely brought the dish all together. Do not miss the brioche bread pudding when you dine here, it should be in the all star hall of fame....
My date and I went to the restaurant to have our favorite Pinot Noir, a limited selection wine called Blue Cape Cellars (2014 vintage). The overall quality of the food was wonderful, but our steak had a bit more fat in it than desirable. The manager immediately remedied the situation and re-did our order. The side dishes ae wonderful and overall the food has a lot of flavor. All the grilled dishes had a nice smoky flavor that was very tasty.
Our server was busy and was not very attentive - never refilled my water glass. We had Prosecco before dinner and wanted to enjoy the wine, but she anxiously took our order. Then she eagerly removed my guest's plate BEFORE I finished my meal. However, She was pleasant and maybe over-whelmed.
Phoenix City Grille is a great neighborhood restaurant with frequently changing specials and daily favorites including the PCG pasta and burgers. The fish is made to order and fresh. The wine list competent but small. It is a great place to enjoy the happy hour or come for lunch or dinner with friends.
Haven’t been back for many years. No reason or any previous issue with the restaurant....just “forgot “about it.
Glad we remembered that we always had good meals and went last Saturday night. Food was outstanding and our reservation was honored with no issue. Noise level was good for having conversation.
We will be back soon!
We had excellent meals, cedar planked salmon and a pasta entree. The server was very good, letting us know what was spicy or what ingredients were in a dish. Parking was tight nearby on a Saturday night at 6 pm, so some walking required when finding a spot farther away. Overall, good food and service and worth going back.
Six of us all very much liked the food. I will go back and try to decide if I want to try something else as the Chicken, Brussels and garlic potatoes were so good I will always want that again! They were busy and we could still have a conversation. Only drawback was the waiter was completely inattentive. I finally gave up on my glass of wine after 20 minutes.
We had our New Years Eve dinner there and Grayson was personable and efficient. Although I had to ask for the cocktails we ordered from the person who delivered our appetizer (!), that was really the only hiccup on an incredibly busy night. The bacon wrapped shrimp with some sort of cheese inside probably broke four or five commandments, and they were delicious. The Flank Steak with cucumber relish was cooked just right and the roasted Brussels Sprouts on mashed potatoes (?) were so, so good. Thanks PCG for another great evening and Happy New Year.
