An award-winning restaurant in the heart of Seattle, Washington, Phoenecia provides authentic Mediterranean fusion fare using a combination of old recipes and contemporary flavors that are sure to satisfy. Enjoy some of the signature entrées at Phoenecia which include artisan pizza, saffron chicken, spicy prawns, 39 spiced beef, sea scallops and more.
Vegetarians and vegans are certainly not left out at Phoenecia, where a variety of items are available to try. The roasted squash pizza, kale salad, grilled portabella, quinoa tabbouleh and margarita pizza are savory tastes that can make for a filling meal.
Virtually everything about Phoenecia is great. Phoenicia is pitch perfect for a small-ish sized, great food, nice variety of options (not too many to be overwhelming), terrific friendly service, and I'm reasonably sure it's a family owned and operated business which you just gotta love. Mid-range prices completely validated by the quality of the food. Unless you're looking for a big, booming place with hundreds of people - this is one of your best options for restaurants in Seattle. I will say the staff is almost intimidatingly attractive though, casual-chic at it's very best. I check myself before walking out the front door to make sure I'm not too much a mess. And, be assured, for as lovely looking as they are, they're even more gracious and fun.
We were given a Xmas gift certificate to Phoenecia and decided to celebrate our anniversary here. Arriving on a cold, wet, dark evening, we were immediately greeted and seated by Sonya. She was attentive and friendly all night, suggesting menu items she thought we would enjoy. The main specialities for the evening are written on a wall-size chalkboard, besides the main menu items available all the time - small plates, salads, pizzas and desserts. They only serve beer and wine and the choices are many. Unfortunately for us, the main protein offered that particular evening was lamb, which neither of us eat. We ordered half a dozen small plates including '39 Spice Beef', Trio of Spreads, flatiron steak, caprese salad, Charcuterie and Cheese Plates. My husband was eyeing the special of farfalle/lamb and asked if he could substitute chicken. The chef was very accommodating and created a dish for him using chicken in a cream/sherry/tarragon sauce. SO good! The attention to detail on each dish was an art - beautifully presented. The only dish we didn't care for was the Flatiron steak - too rare and chewy for our taste, yet still flavorful. Menu is on the pricey end and we quickly used the $100 G.C. Another highlight was on Tuesdays they give 10% of all proceeds to the charity of the month - give and give-back. Nice! Plus, they also have take-out and catering. Would we be back - probably if we were in the area, but it is a long way from south Bellevue during rush hour and pouring rain with construction going on. It does seem to cater to a younger population - 20 to 40's - which benefits the local area greatly.
We have eaten here many times because the food is outstanding. The service has always been slow but the food was worth the wait. On New Year's Eve they crammed the place with tables and too many customers at one time. People had to move away from their tables to allow other patrons to get to and from their tables. Food was being served over other customers heads and you were so close to each other that you felt as if it were an intimate dinner for 75! I'm sure they were breaking fire codes! The food however is outstanding! I would just never go back on a holiday.
Best pizza on Alki and innovative entrees, must try is the baklava for desert.
Phoenicia is a neighborhood spot. We have been dining here for 20 years and the food doesn't disappoint. The best pizza in Seattle. The dough is proofed for 3 days. Other offerings are outstanding as well. Good wines by the glass. The owner and her daughters are so warm and make you welcome every time you dine.
It was a cold, blustery night when a friend and I went to Phoenecia. I had been there a number of years ago and the menu has changed significantly. Our server was friendly and got us started by reviewing the specials. My friend and I both ordered the pork chop special. Given that the restaurant was almost empty a little after 5:30, it seemed to take quite a while for our entrees to arrive. When they did, I found the potatoes hot and nicely crisp and the green beans nicely done. The caramelized apples on the pork chop were nicely done, too. Both pork chops, however, were tough and dry, and that is what was so disappointing. The house got busy and our server did not get back to us, so we went ahead and ate the chops. When my friend mentioned the tough chops when the bill arrived, the server made a 20% adjustment in the total, which partly redeemed the situation. I would, however, have preferred a more carefully prepared pork chop. Given this experience and the changed menu, I will probably not be going back.
We've been to Phoenecia many times for both casual dinners with our children (12 and 14) and with work colleagues, including the chairman of my company's board of directors, and I've enjoyed every time thoroughly. All of the dishes are beautifully-presented, with sophisticated combinations of flavors, yet manage to avoid being intimidating to young palates, or pretentious in any way. Similarly, there is always music playing which is interesting, but not intrusive. The space itself is full of warm textures of brick and wood, tastefully accented with strings of white holiday lights, and topped-off with a broad view of Puget Sound. The staff is warm and knowledgable, whether one is being served by the proprietor, her adult children, or personnel outside the family. Phoenecia is one of our favorite restaurants to introduce to visitors and recent arrivals to the Seattle area.
It's a local gem indeed. Owners and staff have always been friendly and helpful. It's a small-ish menu but everything is very tasty. One of the better dining locations in WS.
Celebrated a birthday. Loved the small plates and especially the lamb shank. Loved the fig salad. Weekday night parking was available on street. Wine selection by the glass was very nice. Service was excellent.
Dinner was very good. Service was admirable, BUT music was way too loud. It was difficult to hear my dinner companion who was sitting just a foot or so in front of me. I would either not go back or would ask the help to turn down the music if I go again.
Phoenecia is a small restaurant right on Alki but the food is fabulous (both the fig pizza and the lamb shank are out of this world!) and the service is excellent. Appetizers are a lot of fun, too. If you're ever on Alki around dinnertime you HAVE to check it out! We even held my son's rehearsal dinner there (reserved the whole restaurant) and everyone raved about it!
Small plates are unique & delicious. Entrees tasty
We stuck to the Tapas menu, where the scallops and the chicken really stood out. Then a Nutella Cheesecake left everyone happy on the way out. Will definitely go back.
Attention of staff and willingness to bend over backwards to accommidate
We have eaten at The Phoenicia many times. It is always excellent and the special pizzas are always a treat. We have never had a less than perfect experience here.
We have dined at Phoenician many times and the food, wine and service continue to be excellent. On this particular night, we walked to the restaurant with our dog. They were busier than normal for a Sunday night and we had to wait for a table. When we were seated, we were given a complementary pizza and our dog received a lamb shank to enjoy outside.
Wine list had some unusual finds and we were given tastes to help us decide.
The sauces that surrounded the beef, shrimp and vegetable dishes were so flavorful, we wanted to lick the plates, but instead were given complementary pita bread to soak them up.
Upon our departure, our dog was given 2 additional lamb shanks to take home!
The mom and daughter team never disappoint with their food, interesting selection of wines, special "extras" and always, warm smiles!
The place is a gem and the food terrific! It takes three days to prepare the pizza dough and they know how to make something so special. The small plates are wonderful and the salads are fresh. The eggplant is better than Mom's. Great staff and very welcoming. You will not be disappointed.
This was one of the first Gems of West Seattle I found when moving here three years ago. I still love it and always find they deliver.
This is simply a wonderful, family run, neighborhood place where everything is prepared with the utmost care. We focussed on pizza and all five kinds that we tried (from truffle oil to pancetta and fig!) were delicious. The salads were ample and creatively delectable as well. We loved the view and our server was gracious. We would be there every month if we lived in West Seattle!
What a treasure we have right here on the beach! I am so pleased the family is doing so well. They are honoring the legacy! Now that the world is aware of the treasure we have to think ahead and make a reservation. Not a bad thing.
Absolutely love this Alki icon! The menu is special and tight; small plates are extreme well done. Atmosphere is intimate, friendly, inclusive; owner to waitstaff strive to make you feel at home. Try the scallops - they are divine!
Food was mixed. Scallops were tasty but two TWO scallops for $18? Pasta was good but boring. The specials were the best part. Wine was pretty poor. If the prices matched the actual quality of the food would get more stars. Not coming back.
My husband and I live within walking distance and that's good because we eat a lot when we go to Phoenicia. Wonderful family owned restaurant. The wait staff is amazing. The food is incredible. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. We take friends here frequently. It is also a great date night place.
This was my first visit to the restaurant; my wife had been there before. Staff was attentive and the food was good. I love to use the gems of my neighborhood and was glad it finally gave it a try.
Food was wonderful and the service was great. A little more expensive than anticipated, but overall, we enjoyed our experience here.
I recommend getting a reservation in order to get the perfect two top tucked in the corner looking out over the beach. The sky colors and the people watching set the mood for the best date night we've had in months. We laughed about people racing their pedicabs and watched people salsa dance on the beach.
The food was excellent -- both beef dishes and the fig salad stood out. We stuck to small plates, shared a great bottle of Malbec and topped it off with a banana and ice cream dessert.
The space was just the right noise level, the service was flawless and we will definitely be back.
Food was delicious! The waitress recommended the fig pizza and it was super unique and tasty. We had the scallop appetizers which were also yummy. The tiramisu and bananas foster were both great desserts. We had several other pizza that were all different and very good. We had a nice view of the sound to go with our dining experience. We will definitely be back!
This is our favorite place in West Seattle/Alki. It has always been nothing less than Perfect! We love the family owners and always look forward to their smiling faces, not to mention mamas baklava! It is such a gem.
Good food, nice servers, we liked it!
We will go back for sure
We enjoyed our impromptu anniversary dinner here immensely! The saffron chicken, diver scallops, kale salad, and warm olives were to die. Rich, vibrant flavors! They even created a kids cheese pizza that was delish for our 3year old. The crust was so fluffy! I highly recommend for a nicer night out and to avoid some of the more touristy spots on alki!
Overall a good experience. The food is really great. Only disappointment was that one of the dishes we ordered was not brought out. Didn't realize until after we'd left but there is a good chance we were billed for that item. So just keep track of what you order.
We eat here almost weekly. Our favorite is to split a salad and a pizza along with a great bottle of wine. The family are amazing hosts and always great you with warmth. They even remember our favorite wine and come to us with the bottle ready to be opened! Wonderful menu of delicious, freshly made food. Come enjoy the view of Alki and the water beyond!
Great service and food! They were able to seat is before our reservation time. Would definitely recommend having reservations during the summer due to how busy it is.
We have been coming to Phoenicia for many years and it remains such a treat. We love the warmth of the family owned restaurant, the delicious food, the beautiful west facing views of Alki, definitely a favorite of our family.
Lamb shank heaven! This little neighborhood bistro, started by Hussein many years ago and now run so wonderfully well by his family is real gem. Great food, excellent wine list and small plates to specials (especially the lamb shanks), has been one of our go-to restaurants for a long time now; most recently for Father's Day - my annual can't miss place for that date. Go try it, from the fabulous individual pizzas to the cheese plates and dessert. You will not walk away unhappy.
I will say that I really enjoyed everything we ordered. Service was good, and the outdoor patio seating/view of the sunset was great save the occasional Alki motorhead revving the engine. However, sharing an app, salad and entree should not cost two people over $100 with tip. With the location, menu and decor this place could really fill a great and much needed niche as the local casual eating spot. However at the premium price, it will have to be reserved for special occasions only, and I'm not entirely sure the experience quite lived up to "special occasion" status.
As usual the food at Phoenicia was delightful and our server was attentive and did a fine job. The roasted squash pizza has become something I crave on a regular basis. The space is small and intimate. If I have any suggestions it would be some kind of screen to roll down in front of the windows. The glare reflecting in from a neighboring building was very bright.
The food was good but a bit expensive for what you actually got. The presentation of the food was ok but very small portions. We had to ask for small plates to share food but they where always available to refill our wine. I would go again but only for lite snacks. My bill came out to over a $100 and I left hungry. Great ambiance and nice small place to take a date on.
I have found Phoenicia by chance (Thank you, Yelp!). It immediately became one of my favorites. Every time I have an excuse to go there, I do. Last time I had a very romantic dinner with a friend there. It was a little noisier than usual, but it was Friday, so it is understandable. The view is amazing, the food is excellent to accompany a good glass of wine. We were able to have a conversation without screaming at each other, enjoy the wine and a couple of awesome dishes to share. The evening turned out perfect.
Looking for romantic spot, I immediately thought of Phoenicia. It is low in volume, with excellent, light cuisine, and good c election of wines. The views are outstanding, and we had a great time and were able to converse easily. The hostess even hushed a group that got a bit high - toned without us asking. Excellent job, Phoenicia, I know we will be back.
