So I went to Philippe on a Saturday for bday celebration. The place was smaller than I expected. The servers and food was pretty good. I just expected more. Not bad but not great! 3 ppl 5 drinks total was about 350.00. Tao was a better experience
Awkward waiter; sad, wanna-be-hip crowd with baseball caps playing loud videos on their phones; food fairly tasteless- no spice even the dishes billed as spicy. Overall MEH!
Excellent food, noisy space, snooty staff, insanely expensive for no obvious reason. Very poor value for money. Will go elsewhere next time.
Food was great! But waiters kept rushing and trying to take food away. It can sometimes feel like they want you to leave. Otherwise yummy and good!
Beat beef and beans you’ll ever have
TERRIBLE!!!!! DO NOT COME HERE! My fiancé had his groomsman dinner here with 7 friends and was served BROKEN GLASS in his food. The manager would not even come out because he was “busy”. The waiter was nice but the management is f’ing terrible and disgusting. This is a serious matter ! If my fiancé swallowed the glass, it could be a serious complication. I could sue them for this. I will not let this slide until management contacts us.
It was a great overall experience we set at the bar until our table was ready we had good drinks they were made perfectly after we were set at our tablet server was friendly and fast the food we amazing then we had a bottle of wine and desert it was a great time
Food was delicious
Philippe is one of my favorite places to dine for exceptionally good selection of appetizers, great food and excellent cocktails. I’ve enjoyed many different dishes on the menu and this time I had the perfectly prepared succulent filet mignon and I highly recommend it. I don’t eat red meat very often but this is the place to enjoy it the most.
Had an amazing experience at Phillipe the food is superb can’t wait to go back
I love this restaurant. The food is always delish!
I always love Phillipe = such FABULOUS Chinese food. Peking Duck the best
Delicious food with an excellent wine list! I will definitely return.
Amazing and delicious
Great as always ...consistently delicious food and great vibe
As usual, Philippe never disappoints. It was my Bestie’s first time and the ideal place to celebrate her birthday at lunch-time. We had the pre-fixe which was perfect! That and a cocktail - along with our gracious server, made for a wonderful afternoon.
Food was excellent took my boyfriend for his birthday he is a Vegan he ate the vegetable lo mein & loved it
Love this place it was my first time here to celebrate my boyfriend birthday and we will celebrate more event her .
It was cool for the most part, the was ok but when I setup the reservation I made sure to specify it was my girl birthday and I thought that they would honor that but they didn’t.
Always love the food and drinks here. The crispy beef was so delicious. The baked alaska dessert was fun...there were half a dozen people taking video of the presentation. And the service is always so nice and professional.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. He's been wanting to go for years. Made a reservation -- waited 20 minutes to be seated. One hostess was very curt and did not greet us at all. Once we were finally seated and the food started to arrive all of our food keep being delivered to other tables. Our entree sat on the server table behind us for a few minutes as we waited to be served --- not sure why that happened. Our waiter was okay -- from my many dining experiences I would say his interaction with the two of us was at a bare minimum. Didn't bother to explain some of the dishes on the menu. Took our orders but didn't check in periodically.
I expected better service at Philippe. The food was superb; the service left much to be desired.
Excellent food & service.
My friend was visiting from out of town and we wanted to catch up.
This was not the place for that at all. We were seated squeezed between two tables it almost felt we were together and could hear their conversations.
When I asked if we could have a little more room the hostess checked with the manager and he said No. it was very uncomfortable for both us and for the people at the tables beside us.
The service was good but felt a little rushed.
The food is delicious. It was too loud to have a conversation. It felt like they were trying to get in as many people as possible as their business module but this has a negative impact on their service and ambience.
It’s too bad this wasn’t the case before.
I hope they rectify it.
Food was very good and the service too but very pricey for Chinese that quite frankly can get elsewhere for a fraction of the price. The ambiance, service and cocktails are better than any standard Chinese restaurant, however. You are paying for good quality and they want to please. I would go again for all those reasons but expect a very hefty bill.
We have been going to Philippe for years because we moved 4 years ago. Tonight we came back for a dinner. Nothing changed. Everything is delicious and absolutely marvelous as always. We had chicken satay, lettuce chicken wrap, vegetable fried rice, dumplings and black prawns. Everything came out as perfect, if not better, as 4 yers ago. Bartender Vanya is a sweetheart and very attentive. Thank you so much!
Food was delicious, great vibe, salt & pepper prawns are fire!
The service and food was great, but they seemed to have overbooked. We waited over 30 minutes to be seated (with a reservation) and were told at one point (by the hostess) that they had no idea how long it would take to seat us. I’ve heard great things but think they should keep better track of reservations so they aren’t overbooking so significantly.
We had a reservation at 9:00pm they sat us at 10:00 it was terrible. Then they sit us on the upstairs room and the clientele made Applebee’s look like a five star restaurant. Very loud food was just ok. The server was very nice but I would definitely not recommend to waste your Saturday night or any night here. Wayyyy overrated!!!
Philippe is well known amongst famous singers and rappers. The reviews say it’s basically an upper echelon version of Chinese food. I will say it looks nice inside and I enjoyed the music. when they seated us the tables were all very close to each other. We ordered drinks (margarita, mojito) neither were good but were strong. Ordered the famous “chicken satay” which was delicious because of the sauce. For entrees I ordered the Beijing chicken which was nothing special, Chinese food in the food court is better. I guess yelp reviewers are liars, they said it was delicious. My friend ordered the surf and turf because it was her birthday and wanted to do it big. For the $90 price tag I pictured a whole lobster and a nice size steak. When it came it was just the tail and pre sliced strips of steak with a sauce that was not appetizing. We decided to order the cotton candy baked Alaska because the picture on the website looks cool. They warn you to get your phones out, they light it up and it’s a cool video. After we capture the moment we dig in and let’s just say it was made only for cool pics/videos. The whole thing just tasted burnt. if you decide to eat here I would recommend just ordering appetizers to share. Don’t think the entrees are worth the price.
We arrived almost an hour late due to heavy traffic and rain, exhausted, our waiter was PHENOMENAL and saw to it that we had cocktails and food in quick succession as we had to catch a show and even brought us a flaming dessert as my two friends and I were celebrating our 50th birthdays! We are so grateful. See you again soon!
Deafening noise from thumping music prevents conversation in the bar area while you are forced to wait for your table. While the table service is professional, the food is so-so for the most part; forgettable dumplings are rescued by excellent Peking duck.
I would not typically write a review like this, but after getting nowhere with the restaurant staff or manager, I feel compelled to share our experience for others to beware.
We had a reservation for 2 at 7:00pm on 11/8/18. I simply would never eat here again. My guest and I arrived early for our reservation and were taken upstairs where we quickly noticed that every patron was black or brown. It was so obvious that we had to say something.
Upon approaching the manager, he had no time or interest in speaking to us and referred us back to the host. We asked to be seated in main dining room and were told that there were no seats available in the main dining room and we’d have to wait 45 minutes to be seated there. We passed several open tables walking back to the host and I reminded her that we had a reservation.
She would not reconsider so I asked for the manager once again. He again couldn’t be bothered to speak with us, but allowed the host to seat the two of us in the main dining room.
This is my second time having an experience like this at Phillipe. I chalked to the first one up to coincidence, but I now realize that was incorrect. They don’t treat minority patrons well and the manager doesn’t respect us enough to even speak when requested.
The food and drinks are actually quite good, but if you are a person of color please know that you will not be made to feel welcome or equal to other patrons in the restaurant and the manager doesn’t care at minimum or orchestrates this treatment.
Food is decent but not the best I’ve ever had.
Wannabe Mr Chow with italianesque waiters acting snooty. Lunch prix fix is decent price but the food is oh so bad and sticky sweet goop. Also the dumpling dough was so thick and starchy it was like eating raw pasta. Ambiance was dead. 3 tables at lunch, I think this place has seen better times. They need to up their game or they will disappear
Too much noice, bad services, it felt like a club, not a restaurant. DO NOT GET THE RIBS THEY ARE DO BAD.
Had to celebrate my bday at Philippe.
Haven’t visited here in a while . We were seated in the red room upstairs which was nice because it was more private .
The food was good . Service was fast
But the waiters kept messing and mixing our food orders up . The waiters were nice despite the mix ups . I enjoyed my self
Invisible is how one feels when one arrives at a restaurant chicly dressed and coiffed and the cheeky snobby young woman maitre'd ignores you for several minutes. Even though my date and I were precisely on time for dinner. Finally we are told there will be a wait of 10 -15 minutes, even though it is 7 pm and the restaurant is half full. We are told to sit on a banquette that is crowded with scruffy messengers waiting for their takeout packages. Finally we get a table upstairs -- the music is deafening -- only to have a party of 8 try to squeeze into the table for 6 next door, until even they realized it wasn't going to work and left.
It also took at least ten minutes to order a drink.
it was just too noisy...for the chinese restaurant. hoped they had a quite section or quiet room for decent conversation. food was good.
