My mother brought her service dog as she has done in the past. The manager that evening came over as our food was arriving and made a scene. We know the restaurants rules and abide by them but he kept speaking to us loudly.
I had the fixed price lunch which offered a good choice and good value. The crispy beef was excellent.
Divine food, lovely ambiance and service impeccable - don't miss Mr. Cheng's noodles, the Peking Duck, and Drunken Sea Bass! In our opinion, Philippe Chow has outdone his father and that is not easy task!
The crispy beef was crispy but you couldn't taste the meat. All you were eating was the crispy stuff on the outside which eventually got cold and wasn't that tasty. Also duck salad had the same issues. Salad part was very good and good dressing. Duck was completely overcooked which made it very dry and not tasty.
Service is too fast. We think they need our table for other guesses. We booked Philippe for a birthday party and the dinner took less than 1 hour.
When I booked, I told about this special occasion. No interest at all ...
This restuarant was better than I expected. No complaints. The ambiance, service and food were all superb. Thank you Philippe!!!
Never disappointed. Food and service always good. Pricey but worth it. Not your run of the mill Chinese food.
My experience is always consistent. Great food service and value - really value the great flexibility to choose the size of the lunch price fixed menu.
The restaurant was nice but the food was awful on top of the waiter who acted as if we bothered him by eating there. It was my birthday and I wanted to go somewhere nice to eat good but instead i got rude service nasty food and a bill that did not reflect my experience. Food looks nothing like the food online.
I went for my birthday and decided to take my grandma to celebrate her 69th birthday. She had a great time and loved everything. Talked about the service all the way home.
Philippe didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. I think this is a case of exclusivity and how people tend to play up things that aren’t as accessible to others. That was my takeaway anyway. I will say to their credit that the food was cooked perfectly and the staff was prompt and polite—I just expected more creativity in terms of the preparation of meals.
I will always go there a the food is excellent and the service
Best food ever ........................................
Too Noisy Not a good Place for Dinner more like a Hood Place
Food Was Good
No Wine and Dine that’s For Sure
Awesome ... nothing else to say
I had booked this weeks prior for a surprise birthday, even specified that it was for a surprise birthday. We were five in total, four of us were there early to put the centerpiece on the table, so when she shows up it’s a surprise. We had asked to sit at least 5 minutes early and 3 hosts kept telling us no the entire party has to be there. We were only missing one. Until one host was kind enough to help. However, she had no idea where to sit us. At first she was putting us down stairs. I’m on crutches and she made me walk through the restaurant twice and then she brought us upstairs. The service, our waiter, was pretty below standards. Wouldn’t come by for orders, snatched menus away without asking if we wanted anything, wouldn’t show us how to open the rice container. The food was delicious but incredibly over priced. Six dumplings for $19?! The food was definitely enjoyable but the price is just not worth it. Over all the company made this evening amazing but I wouldn’t come back nor would I recommend this place. The price and the service is so far below mediocre it’s not even justifiable. If it’s at least expensive with amazing service, without gettting menus ripped out of your hands, maybe I can overlook it but yeah no. That wasn’t it.
Great food, service and ambiance I will definitely be going back there. Had a great time.
Love this place!!!! Visit there every time I’m in the city!!!
Overall it was a decent spot. I think they keep the Caucasians downstairs and the African Americans upstairs ; that was very disappointing. The bartender and waiter were very attentive. The food was decent and the drinks were Ok! The Sangria was very tasty and the sweet and sour chicken was very good. I would go back but no rush
Everything was great. You get your money worth. Just wish it wasn’t so dark and loud.
Always a good time at Philippe. The only issue was the server was a little inattentive. We had a hard time getting his attention. He was more attentive to the other tables than to ours. Other than that food was great, drinks were great.
First time in New York and got this restaurant recommended, but we were disapointed. Waiting time for service and food was way to long. The noise level was uaceptable high, we weren’t able to have a normal conversation. The food was okay, but not really worth the pay.
Wide range of classic Chinese offerings well executed and fresh.
Philippe is always the best!!! Food is incredible and service is always outstanding! I love the music also!
My favorite dishes: chicken satay, Walnut shrimp, vegetable lo mai, vegetable fried rice, pecking duck and sea bass.
You can not go wrong with the food there everything is amazing!
Last night's meal was as great as always. When I get to NY, I can't wait to get here for a great authentic Chinese food!! Can't wait to get back.
As always, great food, well served and at a good price and value
Excellent service from staff. The food was good and the atmosphere was ok
Desafortunadamente el ruido era tan fuerte x arruino todakla homies
A little overpriced for the taste of food
Terrible service. Table are too small and waiters keep bringing plates on it. Food is ok but too pricy. I would not recommend it to friends.
My house mignon was a little over cooked and our baked Alaska was a little too well done for our liking, however the service was magnificent and I inted on going back again in the future.
Food is always consistent, service was great.
Celebrated a birthday. Great Asian food options. Environment and ambience was very cool. Wait staff was very efficient and knowledgeable.
Everything is always good. I especially love the lychee martinis my all time favorite. They put us upstairs in a quieter area which was nice. My date enjoyed it as well.
Exceptional waitstaff and beautiful, romantic ambiance! We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and recommend it for special occasions!
Hate this place
I actually frequent this restaurant and the food is always good. The service usually is as well however, that was not the case this time. The waiter came to our table to take our order and that was last time he checked in on us. All of the food was brought out by other staff members and after we finished eating a different waiter came to ask if everything was ok. Now I know you may be thinking maybe our original waiter left for the night and this new waiter was his replacement. Unfortunately that was not the case. He was still there waiting on the table next to us, very attentively I might add. If their glasses of wine moved a smidge he was there refilling them. Meanwhile we didn’t get a refill at all of our beverages that we clearly finished.
When he was taking our order any time we said thankyou he gave zero response, didn’t even acknowledge we said anything to him. I’m hoping this was an isolated incident and my next experience goes better than this one. Although the food was still delicious the service tainted my overall experience.
The food is really good and the service is exceptional!
Will always visit them when we’re in New York City. This is one of our favorites.
Did not live up to expectations AT ALL. Food was average at best. Local Chinese restaurant/PF Chang's has much better tastier food. You are paying for the name and service. Will not be coming back.
While I was very impressed with the food, the wine was dreadful and my sister's drink was weak. Service was a little slow, but not to the point that it was annoying. I was actually quite surprised by the size of the portions since it was Restaurant Week and I thought they would be much smaller. Overall, I had a lovely time and would definitely go again for lunch/dinner when in the neighborhood. I would even make a trip there if I were in the mood for Chinese cuisine.
