Philippe Ratings and Reviews
A former colleague loved Phillipe. As I was looking for New Year's Eve dinner options, I came across Phillipe and decided to try it. My partner has particular allergy needs but also loves seafood. I on the other don't love seafood. The menu had options to please us both. The Peking Duck Spring Rolls were so good. I had the Filet with the Green Beans. It was delicious and so tender. My partner had the Crispy Duck and he enjoyed it. Will definitely dine there again.
The food was blah... The sauces seemed like they were prepacked or bottled. All the meats are covered in flour and deep fried. Or at least it seems like it. The same terrible techno was playing in a loop. The service was slow unattentive. This was the 2nd time we've come to this restaurant and the entire table left feeling underwhelemed and overcharged... Too bad... Won't be coming back again.
The waiter was extremely rude to us and lied about details of the items on the menu - I am not able to eat starches and without confirming or knowing he said there was no starch in the hot and sour soup but there was. He rushed us throughout the meal and then when ready to check took his time bringing it - just a complete oxymoron.
Went for my 30th birthday dinner and could not have been happier. We had the surprise pleasure of Chef Chow coming out and hand carving our Peking Duck which would have been incredible on its own but even better with the master himself slicing. Will absolutely be back again.
Restaurant was pretty dark, it was cold, music was loud
Service was so so. Nothing disastrous but on the other hand they didn’t have their hearts in it. Leaving rice on the table / not cleaning the table before desert, cleaning the table next to us with food flying on to the floor
Most importantly the food was not great.
From the street you can't tell that this is a fabulous restaurant. It seems that there are many people who know it, and it is a special place for them, and I can see why. Working slowly through the menu, and it is a problem because everything is so good there is not much incentive to explore further. The best way would be to start with a large group and see what they can do, and not be disappointed.
Four of us arrived exactly on time for a 6:30 reservation and were told to wait while some tables were cleared. Ten minutes later we were led upstairs to Siberia, a small, private room with a table set for 14. There was nightclub loud music with a heavy bass and a rushed, indifferent waiter who dropped okus once we said we weren't ordering alcohol and that tap water would suffice. As the guests for the party showed up, the noise escalated to the point we had to yell to each other to converse. We waited forever for over-salted food, including one dish that I needed to track down by getting up from the table and finding wait staff. We asked for spicy mustard, but were told that it wasn't available because " there was a new manager since last week and everything changed, even the plates." (We've always been troubled by the all-black bathroom--besides being tacky and dated, it cannot possibly be cleaned properly.) No need to repeat this experience.
We were seated in at a very intimate table. Only 6-7 tables in the room. 4 older adults came in acting loud and very obnoxious. There were rude to the server demanding food without a thank you. They were drinking heavily and then the vulgar language started being thrown around. So inappropriate there were children in this room. The manager even came up twice to check On the situation, yet did nothing!!
As you was leaving he asked how things went. I told him he should be ashamed of himself for allowing such behavior.
Shame on this restaurant😡😡😡😡
I will never go again!!!!!!!
