First, they didn’t offer a restaurant week menu even though they were advertised on the nyc.go site as having one. Brief “I’m sorry,” but no more.
Not terrible, but not great.
The decor is kind of flashy, hip, “subterranean.” Nice, if that’s your thing.
And the food was… good. As good as a good Chinese restaurant, but no better. There are lots of places in New York that have food as good as or better for half the price. Maybe not the fancy decor, but you can find the same (or better) food lots of places.
Everything was perfect! Food is the best so the service! Excellent restaurant!
Everything was delicious, however we were disappointed that our entrees were not hot. They were warm like they had cooled down from sitting. But I have to say they were very good.
What an Incredible Experience! Marco was Our Waiter and literally exceeded expectations from beginning to end.
LOTS of food for your money! Did restaurant week and it’s superb
Thank you 😊 I enjoyed my birthday appreciate everything
Trash won’t be returning disappointed in restaurant !
This is a really good first date spot or somewhere to go if you're into a scene or with a group. The food was not great. Pretty average I wasn't impressed. I've been to other Mr. Chow locations and thought they were better then this one food wise, but the ambiance of this downtown location was the best. The value is certainly not there if you're looking for something chill. $10 for water and $15 for a cocktail doesn't really compute for me.
Restaurant week menu is one of best! Have enjoyed meals here before as well & you can’t go wrong. Always delicious
I really love the ambiance and the staff. Our favorite dish is the famous Chicken Satay. That sauce was PERFECT and I wish it sold in stores. Lychee martini was strong but flavorful. I will return soon.
The waiter was phenomenal
The Food and Drinks were great, however the restaurant is extremely hot, the tables are too close together and the music was way too loud. Don’t go on a date expecting to have a conversation, you’ll have to scream across the table.
We absolutely enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere.
Twe had the vegetable fried rice , vegetable low mein, Beijing hockey, sweet and sour chicken and spicy velvet chicken.
It was so delicious and fulling.
The tables were very tight I had a party of 8 and we were not very comfortable.
Also there was a fly just hanging around and flying around our table from time to tome and my nephew said for an expensive and upscale restaurant at least they should ensure there is no bugs flying around.
The atmosphere very energetic and lovely. The staff so friendly, the girls at the door are welcoming and sweet. The waiter and the butler were so amazingly sweet and friendly always coming to the table to see if we were ok.
Over all 4/5 stars would have been 5 if the seating and fly did not disappoint.
a big disappointment. Chinese in name only. Food is so Americanized that it is almost unrecognizable. Not an elegant atmosphere - more of a nightclub atmosphere. it is ok if you want that type of thing - but it is not an image that their website pictures portray. waiters were very pleasant and helpful. that was the only good part. we ate and ran as quickly as we could. never going back.
So this is the first time dining at the downtown location. I had a reservation for 9pm didn’t get seated till after 10. Once we were seated, it took forever for a waiter to ask us anything. The music was obnoxiously loud to the point where I couldn’t hold a conversation over the music. Once the waiter came, he took our order and never returned to check on us until I had to stop him to get us our check and to box up our food. Overall this location is overhyped.
Extremely loud with explicit music playing, couldn’t hear the rest of my party sitting 1 foot apart
Lovely! Philippe is my fav
Amazing food and service
We had an amazing time. The chicken Satays were amazing. We ordered the duck. I wish I would have called earlier for the duck since it takes a hour to prepare but it was sensational. The music was extremely loud but other than that. Cool vibes. Will come back
Food, service and the vibe was amazing! I’ve been to the uptown location several times but downtown is my new favorite!
It was good. Great service.
Overall experience was nice, just wished my waiter explained the menu better. It’s buffet style so order a lot
I brought my Mom there for the first time and she was so impressed! The food is always delicious. Looking forward to returning.
First time and everything was amazing. Service, food, drinks… great!
We had a wonderful time, Our waiter was excelente and very attentive and the vibe was on point great music.
A delicious meal and excellent service but not the place for an upscale classy celebration. First, the young man at the front door was more interested in his friends hanging out on the sidewalk than in greeting or guiding patrons into the restaurant. Then, there were three female hostesses dressed in slinky attire who inform you that while your table is ready you cannot be seated until your full party arrives which delayed and prolonged our stay for dinner; their communication and presentation were unrefined. The music is loud and was profane so I could not post our birthday dessert (with sparkling candles) video because there were repeated F-bombs at the entire beginning of a song playing and thus not appropriate for work friends or clients to view. The chicken satay and green prawns were delicious as mentioned in reviews I read and as I mentioned at the start, the service was wonderful - attentive, polite, knowledgeable about the food and portions needed for a group of seven people.
The hostess needs to be more friendly & watch what they say to people. I actually wanted to walk out after interacting with them.
Great food. Great first experience. Had the crispy duck and lobster fried rice.
Amazing decor, great music, food was good, waiter was attentive
they were out of almost everything which was shocking for a friday night. no tofu in the entire house. and we got a duck dumpling that was filled with bones and almost broke my daughters tooth. as nice as our server was the service was terrible. wanted so much to have a great evening but it turned out to be a huge disappointment
Always a great time. Very courteous and accommodating staff and service. Thank you.
Great service and amazing food!!
The restaurant is advertised as upscale, however, its a regular Chinese restaurant with blasting club music and scantily clothed (street clothes) clientele located in a dark basement of a building with unclean carpet that needs serious washing and vacuuming leading you down the stairs to the restaurant.
I would not recommend this as an upscale restaurant. Just a high priced Chinese restaurant with average type of food.
Overall food was great! The service was outstanding and overall just a really good time. Everything from the appetizers to the desert was excellent. Will be back for sure
I have never been to the downtown location, was always went to the one on 60th. the food as always was excellent, but the service was not the same as the 60th street one.
I had such a great time. The music was great, the vibe and energy was everything I needed. I’ll be back soon.
Food was good. Service was just ok. Music was too loud, almost impossible to have a conversation.
Such a fun experience with a dj for a Saturday night. Food was great, service was incredible.
2nd time here within a month and every went well. Food and ambience was excellent.
The best food in meatpacking. Joy is a great bartender. Because of her we are at the bar.
